Hello all, my name is Scott. I love the forum and thought I would sign up. Lurking does get old after a while. ;) I've been a cigar and pipe smoker for over 15 years and I've started to think about vaping. I am not an inhaler and to me it seems like vaping is a PITA. (no offense to anyone) Between having to steep new juices and worrying about batteries and what not, it doesn't look to be that convenient to me. I have never smoked cigarettes and I'm not sure that vaping is really for me. I base this on the fact it seems that most people come to vaping trying to quit the coffin nails. Are there other benefits to vaping? I am here to learn, not to poke a stick at anyone. Thank you for indulging me.

I will say that I am intrigued by the culture of it all. Opinions?

Actually in some ways you will have an easier time making the switch than a cig smoker. With Vaping you suck the vapor into your mouth and hold it, inhale or not, then blow it out through your nose and/or mouth. The nic is absorbed by the mouth and nose not the lungs.

As for inconvenience. Well it all depends on what setup you want to roll with. If you have 2 long life batteries one is charging while the other is being used so no worries there. With the juices, some need steeping and some don't. All steeping really amounts to is letting it sit for a week or so. Honestly most juices I have come across are fine right out of a fresh bottle, they just got BETTER with age.

Vaping really can be as simple as filling up your Carto/clearo/tank, screwing on a battery and vaping. :)

Edit:In fact if you do some hunting around there are vaping devices that are made to mimic pipes and cigars.

Welcome to ECF

For me it was the health thing - turning 60 this year
Now it is for all the tinkering, collecting and PITA stuff - LOL
I actually like the idea of playing Mad scientist and making my own special Vape. No longer using tobacco or tobacco flavored e-liquids, I am finding I love being able to taste an Apple Pie or Peach cobbler on the spur of the moment without having to stop and eat.

I may eventually put it all down, but for now its a hobby and like any good hobby it is a way of relaxing and enjoying the moment.

Oh and 99% of the time I just grab a clearo, top it off, pick a power supply(battery/APV) and go. Quick and simple.

HI Scott!

I was a cigar smoker too (I inhaled though).

Yes batteries, juice and the other items can seem like a PITA. But here is a counter point.

1. Don't need a box/book of matches.
2. Don't need a lighter. (I loved Zippo's but those were worse to fill than any of my clearomizers)
3. Don't need an ashtray.
4. No extra trash from wrappings/bands.
5. No cutting or punching
6. No lingering smell on your clothes/hands/facial hair/mouth.
7. No burnt holes in shirts/pants.
8. No burns on you.
9. No stained fingers/teeth.
10. No spitting out loose tobacco that always seems to come out of the cigar no matter how you trim it.
11. Your juice smell won't fill a room with a 'stench' that others hate. :)
12. No 'leather' tongue after having a good vape session.

Many places make a juice that tastes just like a Cuban cigar. :)

I currently have 3 batteries. I put my main battery on the charger when I get home from work (Same time I do my cell phone) and I put the smaller battery that I use in the evening on the charger before I head to bed. I top off any of my juices at that time as well.

I find vaping to be less work in fact. :D

Apart from those that smoked "tailor mades" as we/I call the normal cigarettes (and by normal I mean pre-made cigarettes in a packet such as your Marlboro/Benson and Hedges etc) there is always a certain amount of ritual when it comes to smoking.
Be it a pipe, a cigar or making a roll-up there is always some pre0cursor to actually lighting the thing and smoking it
With a pipe it`s packing, tamping and re-lighting it when it puffs out plus the cleaning and storage of your PS (personal smoke ;) )
Cigars need trimming before lighting and if you are a serious cigar fan no doubt you have a selection carefully "steeping" in a humidor!

With me and the roll-ups it was the ritual of actually rolling before I could smoke, crafting a perfect tube with just the right amount of backy and the right firmness.

So, to me anyway, vaping is no different :D just a different set of rituals to go through. It can be as easy or as complex as you want to make it :)

With a lot more advantages for your health and (eventually) your wallet :D

You're right. My humidor is a like a big steeping box. I never would have thought of it in that way. Nice perspective.

And if I understand correctly, your humidor can make a nice storage thingie for your vaping stuff. Search here for 'storage' and see some nice pics.

Welcome and hello, Scott !!! :)
