Winds are blowing like a Hurricane today.(tropical storm, maybe) 40-60MPH

Went out and pulled the Bad Battery from the replacement riding mower. By the time I purchased another and got home, the sky's were black and wind was just to much to deal with.
Will try again tomorrow

We just got back from our new Dr. He seems great. very willing to work around our needs and even acts like he's human.
I lost my human doctor. He was great. He reminded me of that Eddie Murphy schtick, "an old country doctor, with old country ways"
He warned me in advance, that if obamacare became law, he would retire, because he couldn't help people, with the government in the middle of it all. He sold his practice to one of those heathcare chains. I went twice, was taken off my pain meds, and felt like just another number to them.
I miss "Doc"... I "knew" him, and he "knew" me.

Yes, I could be wrong, but I think everything was finished last week. Will be another very soon, supposedly. I think all the social site winners and possibly the last batch of thread draw winners are still waiting for their winners' PMs. That was an awful lot of typing for nothing really. I don't know a thing. Just guessing, and I'm not very good at that.

Not really hon...you're right! This contest is finished. Social media winners have been drawn as well as the 100 winners here. :(

It wouldn't have mattered if he was still your primary care physician, doctors can't prescribe (narcotic) pain medication monthly any longer. Or at least not in Florida but I assume it's national, you have to pay $300 every two months to a "pain management" center...what a racket.

After having a father and a brother that got hooked on narcotic pain medications I wish NC would've had that law years ago. And I realize that statement will probably inflame the folks here that use them and need them but my father and brother made life hell for us because of them. Sorry in advance.

The thing is some people need to take them, it's not me I was referring to but my mother. She has tried everything including surgeries, the only thing that gives her any quality of life is ongoing pain medication. She takes them as prescribed and deals with the breakthrough pain the best she can.

There are people who abuse pain medication, but there are those who don't. Really what she must go through to manage her pain is ridiculous.

It's up to the primary care physician to watch for signs of abuse and it's up to the family to report it to the physician if they know. I'm sorry to hear of your struggles with addiction in your family, I hope all is well now.

Not here. Sadly some of us need the strong stuff. I take only what I need, but without it I'd be in severe pain most of the time. My only option was a crap shoot anyway I could have let the Dr do anoher surgery on my shoulder and possibly lose all use of he arm as well as be in more pain than I already am. It sucks but that's life

It's sad when the Dr doesn't do their part and monitor the patients that are using them on a regular basis. I know we keep close track of ours and if we can skip a dose that's a good thing. I don't take them like I do my seizure meds those I take religiously whether I feel like I need them or not. I only take my pain meds when I need to.

My brother needed it to deal with his pain from day to day. But, his addiction to those pain pills cost him his life. His Dr nor my dads(old time country doctor) never once said lets try some other form of pain management. Like I said, I know some HAVE to have it to deal with everyday life and they shouldn't have to deal with the fact that the abusers are messing things up for the non abusers.
Btw-we reported it to both of their Drs and were asked by said Drs where our medical degrees were.

I knew it was the physicians fault, I wasn't blaming you at all. I was speaking generally.

I'm very sorry about your brother. It wouldn't have helped emotionally but I would have filed suit against the doctor. He should not be allowed to practice.

Older small town doctors can be dangerous as well. I have witnessed this myself. They usually are kind but often work beyond their years and don't keep up with advancements in medicine and procedures.

Pain killers killed my father by accidental overdose, but I still think they should be easily available to those who need them. So glad I don't!! My dad was (and I am too) addiction prone. Others shouldn't have to pay for his mistake, but that's just my opinion. I'm sorry about your brother and father. Very. I hope they're doing better. I know I am. I haven't touched anything intoxicating in over a year and a half now. It seems I may have outgrown it. The man upstairs just took it away. I'm so, so glad to be free from all that!

EDIT: I just read your next post. I'm sorry.
