NT really SS is handy.. it can be TC or not, so if your mod fubar's it wont destroy the coil if it switches to watts suddenly. the flavour is good, the ramp up slightly faster, and it has pretty colours for the fancier coil building. it's really a matter of what you like and what you want to do with it. i'm playing with fancier coils, finally found the household drill... twisting wire by hand is painful... now i can consider more interesting builds. i'm not a could chaser, but my builds make me capable lol... i'm just fascinated by all the aspects of vaping.

Thanks I guess it's just going to be experimenting but what I'm getting not too many people like the titanium
Before I started using ss titanium was my favorite. Ni200 can be a pain to work with. It's soft so you have to be really careful when handling the coils and the resistance is so low that gauges below 28 are pretty difficult to use if doing dual coils.

For TC, NI200 works best. SS can be very finicky depending on mod and tank (or RTA/RDA) that you use. I'm not a fan of TI whatsoever.

NI200
Advantages: 26-28 gauge works best (for 3 to 4mm coils), you can make sub-ohm in the 0.2 ohm range that works absolutely great and doesn't need high wattage as they work great at 35-45W. It's the best metal for TC as most mods that does TC will work perfectly with it. Works great on single coils setups.
Disadvantages: do NOT dry burn (oxides are created and it's bad for you), you have to use the drip technique to balance the coils to ensure no hot spots. Soft metal, some people have trouble shaping them right.

SS
Advantage: harder metal, easier for some to work with. Can be used in watt mode also. Works better in dual coils setups.
Disadvantages: TC is moderate with it, some mods and tanks can have trouble with it staying in TC mode or working TC correctly. Higher resistance, requires larger gauge or shorter wire to get low sub-ohms.
good info thank you

I switched to 316L SS about 6 months ago. I previously used Kanthal. I only use mechanical mods. I don't even own a regulated mod, and have no intention of owning one.
The thing about SS is that as power is applied to the coil, the resistance increases. That's why it, and some of the other wire materials work on TC mods, and Kanthal doesn't. It's because the resistance with Kanthal remains relatively constant. With mechanical mods, I build to a somewhat lower 'cold' resistance than I would build with Kanthal, because of the resistance 'climb'. For example, I may build to around .4 ohms with Kanthal, but with SS, I'll build to about .3 ohms, because when I power the coil, the resistance will climb to .4 or above. This makes for a smooth vape on a mech mod.

In what way was it inconsistent?

Well Ken, like I think I've mentioned before, I don't do TC..that said stainless seemed to wander from hit to hit.. especially chain vaping.. least it was for me, and I went back to Kanthel or Nichrome..my two favorite non-TC wires.. different strokes and all that, lolol

Yeah, didn't wonder about tc. Differences in flavor from hit to hit, or what? I'm the sort of guy who never noticed much (if any) difference in flavor from different types of wire, so I'm not that sensitive I guess :)

*Talking about differences in temp from hit to hit.. stainless always seemed to get hotter chain vaping even though power stayed the same..
