With mechanical mods, I build to a somewhat lower 'cold' resistance than I would build with Kanthal, because of the resistance 'climb'. For example, I may build to around .4 ohms with Kanthal, but with SS, I'll build to about .3 ohms, because when I power the coil, the resistance will climb to .4 or above. This makes for a smooth vape on a mech mod.

I never thought of that @Rule62. You would get around 40 watts at 0.3 ohms and around 30 at 0.4, so you've shortened the heat up time. Brilliant :thumb:

weird, i get a pretty constant vape and flavour from SS, been using it pretty much a month straight, the few times i tried the kanthal i could taste the difference... plus the slightly slower ramp up. that's why i like it. i do build like rule62, build for say .15, by the time it's heated it's .24 or better... but i've had to stop those builds for now, my batteries really don't like it. so i build to .24 and expect roughly .33 or so. i chain vape, and while i don't go for clouds, i was trying to figure out the tricks just for fun... yep i'm lousy at it hehehehe, i can blow rings, but no jellyfish *sigh*. the SS heats easier and it's easier to keep the heat going for the vapor. there's nothing wrong with kanthal, i just know what i like and it's SS for me... for now at least.
