thanks everyone.
thought i was doin something wrong over here.
and as much as i would like a cigarette - i tossed em out after i charged my batteries & started vaping.
i'll suck it up & see if i lose my marbles or not.. lol.

is there a juice that is smooth enough to inhale?
the 555 & Wowboy are tough on the throat.

Hmmmm, rough on the throat may mean you need to cut down on your PG ratio.

could be too things. the nic content is too high. i smoked 20 a day for 10 years but found anything above 18mg killed my throat.

or the mixture of the liquid could be high pg. you should see on the bottle "pg/vg) if pg is higher , then its going to be quite throaty. you may be more of a vg guy ( lots of vapor)

or finally it could be the device your using , if its set at too high of a voltage it may well be giving you a really harsh and hot vape.

Is your juice high in PG? I have a bit of an aversion to PG myself. I can't handle 100% or even 50/50 PG-VG. I do use some low nicotine 80/20 for the evenings. That 20% PG is all I need for a throat hit with low nic juice and I inhale 100% VG just fine. YMMV.

Smoking is not just a nicotine addiction. There is the habit, the chemical addiction(s), and the social aspects. What worked for me was to keep as many things the same as possible. At work, I still go outside for a faux break at the normal times, talk to the same people, etc. keeping everything the same, as far as I could, to help the transition.

When I did have a serious craving, I just focused on the reasons I finally decided to quit for good.

Yeah, the desire to smoke is complex, involving much more than just nicotine. The good news though is that the other, non-nicotine habitual aspects of it can be broken just as easily as any other simple habit, and can be completely overcome in about 21 days or so. If you have a habit of, say, of always placing your keys on a particular key ring when you get home, but begin putting them in another place, it takes about 3 weeks before you stop reflexively reaching for the former key ring location.

Nicotine is a whole other deal, but if you're getting that, it's pretty simple. If the craving seems really intense even though you have enough nicotine, this is likely just Pavlovian association at work. Good luck.

There are quite a few vendors that will mix the juice to your liking. I'm fairly new to vaping myself so the only vendors I've tried are Johnson Creek and EC Blend. JC has a 100% VG line of juices that they call the 'Red Oak' line and EC Blend will mix it to your specifications. Check the forum suppliers, there are several that will offer specified ratios and 100% VG.

edit: Also, I'm sure you've heard this a bunch already but drink plenty of water. It really does help.

When I first got my eGo Twist and 18mg juice I also found it to be very harsh on my throat. Even with the Twist dialed down to 3.2 I was still finding it harsh. I thought it was that the 18mg nic was to high. So I ordered some juice at 15mg nic and higher VG as well as some all VG juice from another vendor.

Well by the time that juice order came - I had actually adjusted to the original juice. So I then found with the 15mg nic - I would occasionally find myself thinking about having a smoke. So I would just vape the 18mg juice - it now no longer bothers my throat :)

So hang in there - it really is a journey and like so many have said - it is all about the ones you have not smoked.

i started 2 days ago.
everything was fine until about 2 hours ago.
i know i'm getting enough nicotine because i have that nic buzz goin on.
but suddenly... i want a cigarette.
what the hell am i doin wrong?

There are several chemicals in cigarettes that are stronger in addiction than nicotine and your body is craving them. The best thing to do is work through it and if you need to, drink catnip tea with a little bit of honey. Catnip tea will help block the craving and should help calm it down for the time being.

Don't tell yourself you're trying to quit. If you want a cig, then smoke one. I was only going to vape in car and house and smoke at work but it got to where I didn't want those cigs at work cause they were nasty. Eventually I started to vape at work and then never went back to the cigs. It will happen....just give it some time.

Im around smokers all day at work and it doesn't bother me a bit cause I know mine tastes better and is better for me. You will prob get some strange looks at first but who cares!

You're not doing anything wrong. When I started, I was just cutting down. Plenty of people gave me the advice to count the ones I didn't smoke rather than the ones you do. Give it a little while longer and vape away in the meantime...if you do still need one in a couple more hours, there's no shame in having one. After two days, you're doing fantastically well! Keep it up if you can! I believe in you!x

Word, the lady's right, everyone is different, some can make the change instantly, some need to move into it, it took me 3 weeks but I got there, if a shaven headed rock ape like me can do so can you bro.

Check this link. VaporSearchUSA I don't know where you are in Illinois, but hopefully there is a vendor close to you. Go there! Usually they'll let you try out juices. Keep trying until you find one you can inhale comfortably. As others said, it's probably either pg or nic bothering your throat. I would vote for nic, but don't know what mg you're using.

Again, as said above, it is not a disaster if you try a ciggy. It'll probably taste like crap anyway. But, if you can hold off....

When vaping, take very light drags... inhale slowly, little at a time. You sound like you HAVE the dedication.

You're going to do it!!!!

Wow! I'm learning a lot here! Catnip tea?! What is this magical tea which I've never heard of?! I thought catnip was only good for turning cats insane! I'm going to have to get some of this!

It's true about not telling yourself that you're quitting. I know I keep referring back to my own experience but it's all I've got! Sooooo... when I first got back into the e-cig at the start of November, I wasn't doing it to quit, just to cut down. Within two weeks I'd cut down from 20 rollies, to 10, to 2, to 1 a day but this wasn't really a conscious choice. It just felt right.

I think the brilliant thing about ecigs is that we can go at our own pace. At the FDA meeting I saw a chap from GSK speaking and he said smokers and quitting smokers are all individuals, and as much as I am suspicious of him for being from a BP, he's right! As a result of doing it at my own pace, today is my 28day vapiversary and the longest I've been without a cigarette since I started smoking 11.5 years ago!

One thing I do which must say a lot about my psychology, is to turn it into a game. I'm competing with myself and seeing how long I can go without a cigarette. I have an app on my Android smartphone from Aha!Smokefree (it's a free one) with a widget on my homescreen that tells me how long I've been analogue free. I totally recommend this although when people ask you how long you've been without a cig and you can reply in days, hours and minutes, you do look a bit like Rainman!

If you can cut back from smoking full time to ecigs for two days just like that, you're doing so amazingly well! Keep going! You've got a lot of support here!x

For me, the cravings were more psychological. I was getting the nicotine I needed, but if I know I "can't" have something, wanting it will drive me mad. So I just put a pack of cigs and a lighter right next to where I was working and for me, knowing I could have one if I wanted one meant I didn't need to actually have one./QUOTE]

That's EXACTLY what I do. I still have 5-6 a day BUT i just bought some new juice with upped nicotine levels and I'm betting that helps.

To the OP.... hang in there!! That's what this place is about. Not only can you get great info, but it's like a support group, too.

Ugh... excuse the horrible attempt at a "quote" above. Loooong day here at the office... LOL!!
