If someone has already posted this I apologize. I only did about 5 minutes of searching and didn't see where anyone had mentioned it.

If you are like me you have realized that the DID is awesome. I like the look of the ZAU and the performance is OK. I wouldn't consider it on par with the different DIDs though. One thing I've seen people talk about is that the contact points inside the ZAU are just begging to lose voltage.

Someone around here put a brass post in their ZAU. Well, I happened to have some spare DID parts laying about...

Step 1: Take the ZAU apart. Geeze... 3 points of contacts inside the ZAU itself... let's just do away with that altogether, why not?! :D

Step 2: Grab a DID brass post, 2 big brass nuts and 1 little brass nut.

Step 3: Screw the DID post up through the ZAU. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BEND THE POST. A good multi-tool is your friend. Use a thin hand towel to protect metal parts from getting all scratched up from the pliers. There is no need to drill anything out but if you have the tools to do so go ahead. I wanted the bottom insulator piece to be as tight around the DID post as possible. Best way I could do that was to avoid boring out the opening any wider than I absolutely had to.

Step 4: DID post should fit right down the center nice and snug.

Step 5: Use the small DID nut to tighten the top side of the post. MAKE THIS VERY TIGHT. ***NOTE*** I am using this on my Paps. When I screw the ZAU down on the Paps top cap everything stays in place. When I take the atomizer back off of the Paps top cap it rotates the DID pin which of course will muck up the way you have the coil set up on top. Just keep that in mind. I plan on leaving it on my Paps rather permanently so NBD for me.

Step 6: Get ready! Apply the big nuts...

Step 7 (OPTIONAL :D): I have a Zenesis2 that isn't getting much use at the moment so swapped the Zen2 Oring and Zen2 top cap and put them on the ZAU... Just cause I think the new Zen cap looks nicer than the old one.

Step 8: Make a nice wick, wrap a nice coil

Step 9: Fill the tank and get dressed up.

NOW VAPE !

There are times when I'm vaping the ZAU I think to myself, "Hmmm... that seemed like a weak hit. What was up with that?"....That doesn't seem to be happening anymore. :D

Update. After vaping with this for a while and being very satisfied I decided I will keep this in my regular rotation. As such I wanted to properly address the post. I wanted it to sit in the 510 connection similar to the DID and not have to worry about the post spinning if I removed it from the Paps.

... Step 10:
Push the Zen insulator tube up. Get yourself a spare DID top base insulator. Use the DID insulator and DID nut to properly secure the post at the top. Done! Now the post sits in the 510 connection level and can be taken on and off of any 510 device with no post twisting. This also allows the Zed to sit flush on more devices.

I'm glad to see...others enjoying a simple but effective Zau upgrade method that works. I actually took the dremal and reduced the black insulator to level it with the coil plate, then i inserted a 2mm-3mm nylon shoulder insulator in the black insulator for a nice snug fit on the post and no leaks... then i added the shoulder nut and nuts.

reaally nice! the voltage drop didn't bother me as much as the huge length of the post above the deck.
I'm gonna have to try this recue op today. got so many DID spares....
thanks for sharing.

edit:
Done it! trimmed the bottom insulator a bit. For the top insulator I used an AC9 spare.
DID's brass center post and mixed screws. It does definitely hit a lot better but most of all I'm not limited by the length of the post. here, 1 cm peice of nextel!
Thanks for the idea.

Well here is my attempt at it!! I dont have any DID parts but i DO have some parts from a AC9 brass upgrade kit i had laying around i didnt use.. So after a little work i got my ZAU fitted with a brass center post. Hits WAY better then stock! and the annoying super tall positive post is not GONE! That is the main thing that really bugged me about the Zens.. I was going to try and sell my ZAP and ZAU but after doing this to my ZAU i plan on doing it to my ZAP to!! While i was at it, I removed the bottom ring on the ZAU and sanded down the sharp knurling it has..

I am not sure if i want to use it with the spring ( like on the AC9, RSST ) or just the nuts.. All i have left to do is trim the positive post down a little on top, Its a little tall.

I'd prefer a blend of the second and third picture... Remove the center nut in the 3rd pic and replace it with the spring and washer... that gives you a nice tight base nut with the spring resting on it, and a washer lock on top, using the top nut to adjust the spring tension...

Win Win Win for me...

Just an FYI.

if you want to take your ZAU/PAPS combo to the next level...
replace the base. with either a pre-made or self fabricated 510 to M20x1 thread adaptor.
ZAU/ZAP/ZAG are all identical aside from the base, which just threads on to the 510 threads

for full hybrid achievement. :2cool:
