I started vaping because I really enjoy the act of smoking. I never have been a habitual analog smoker, even though there have been stints of time in my life where I would smoke for a few months, start to notice the negative effects (waking up in the morning coughing, coughing up nasty gunk, shortness of breath), then quit for a while. Over the last 8 years I've been an "occasional" smoker (no cigs during many months, maybe 10-15 cigarettes on others). I might buy a pack of cigarettes if I would go out drinking with friends, or hanging with friends that smoke, just so I wasn't bumming cigarettes all night, then give them to someone at the end of the night when our hang session was over. I decided to start vaping a few weeks ago, and have to say, I love it. It's cheaper, easier, and I'm not a slave to sitting there puffing on a cig for 10 minutes until it's gone (or hotboxing it because it's cold outside and there's no smoking inside). Are there any other members on the board that just picked up vaping because they like to smoke, even though they aren't necessarily "addicted" to nicotine or the act of smoking?

PS. I'll be glad to share my experiences over time, if I notice any negative effects from using ecigs if people are interested in hearing from a "non-smoker" that isn't switching from analogs.

I moved to vapeing as a replacement not a quit. Ive already moved from 24mg juice to 6. I can totally see myself continue to vape at 0 because i enjoy it so much!

Me too! I enjoy it so much, and always order the least amount of nicotine available (usually 4,6, or 8) in my flavors so far. I could totally see myself doing it without nicotine though. I'm going to get into DIY liquids, as that seems to be the cheapest sustainable way to continue my new hobby. Gotta say though, I love the flavors I've gotten so far from -

Lurk mode is my default. I post only when I feel like it or just for the hmmff of it. It doesn't matter what the subject is. I tend to make my reply on threads that are on top of the list, much like everyone else.

So the point of this thread is to tell everyone that you don't add nicotine in your juice. It's just the act of smoking and the clouds of vapor you're after. I hear you, bro.

I took up vaping as a means to a safer way to get my nicotine and at the same time satisfy the hand-to-mouth addiction. I've dropped from 36mg to 18mg. When all of my 18mg is gone, I'll drop again to 12mg. All the juice I've bought since Black Friday has been 12mg. I have a long way to go before I get to them but I've already tried some out and haven't had any nic fits yet.

I also plan on dropping my nic levels as I go. I quit smoking numerous times and always missed the hand to mouth action which led to munching which led to weight gain.

This suits my smoking style perfectly. I wasted close to half my cigarettes, since I only went outside to puff puff puff and come back in, throwing half (or more) of the cigarette away.

This is much better for me. I can totally see myself getting to 0's and 6's as my main go-tos eventually, though I expect for parties & such, I'd want the higher levels.

I can't vape with zero nic. That's the end of it. I can't also vape with 38-12 nic in my juice. It's too harsh for me. At about 5-8 it's at the point where I can sense the TH. That's significantly better than smoking clouds of vapor without it. So to me the TH is part of the whole act of smoking. No use dragging clouds of vapor in my mouth without TH feel in it. I might as well go back to analogs.

I think most people here loved smoking and switched to vaping as a replacement.

I did lower my nic (people go both ways). Re zero nic - I have one zero nic carto around and if I'm vaping too much at home I substitute some 0 nic vaping b but can't do 0 nic all the time. I still need some TH. I got myself down to 4mg.

Vaping is so much more pleasurable than smoking. And there is a plethora of flavors to choose from. I smoked menthol analogs probably because I didn't like the taste. I've tried vaping menthol and found I actually prefer the tobacco flavors. I thought vaping would be more socially acceptable because it doesn't stink like analogs but so far, that has not proven to be true. People see the vapor and equate it with smoke which I think is ridiculous. When I ask them if they can smell it they say it ( Halo Bella Valente ) smells sweet and "vanilla like" but the sight of the vapor just seems to turn those that don't smoke off. I explain it is an e cigarette and it emits harmless vapor that quickly dissipates but they don't buy it. I started vaping 24 ml and found it gave me headaches so bumped it down to 18ml. I have no intention of dropping that down any time soon. I love the fact that it actually almost feels like I'm smoking an analog yet without the ill effects. I feel better, the house doesn't stink and it's cost effective. I have been keeping close track of my vaping expenditures and based on my calculations vaping should cost me 25-30% of what I spent on analogs. What is there not to like about it?

The general ignorance regarding vaping amongst the populace is somewhat disconcerting in that I find I must treat it as I would an analog as far as restrictions go. I went to dinner with a smoker and ex-smoker the other night. Afterwards I felt like vaping at the table at a non-smoking establishment, they were both opposed to it so I refrained. Also, a funny thing happened at the casino, where smoking is allowed. ( Which BTW, after 26 days of vaping smelled like a huge ashtray when I walked in the door) I was sitting at a machine and someone came up and asked me for a light. ( Did they not see the electric blue light at the end of my pv?) I advised them I could not accommodate them as I was smoking an e cigarette. They just walked away with a puzzled look on their face.

I didn't start vaping to quit smoking, I love vaping and eagerly anticipate the delivery of the next flavor and the pleasure it will bring.

Just sharing my story too,

I would say i am also pretty much on the same boat with the OP. I vape tons more than i would with analogs. I was the usual social smoker as well as a chain smoker, once i start i could keep smoking. I pretty much just smoked analogs when im out with my friends especially when drinking is involved, never really would go out and smoke one by myself. I did eventually sometimes get hooked and become scared of that because of health reasons and would do cold turkey for like a month or so but then i eventually let my guard down and give in. The scariest part was this right before this past summer i really gave in and started smoking analogs by myself and especially at work where i can easily step outside and have a cig, which i started to do every hour. I then quit for the whole summer except for 1 cig on my bday where i was piss drunk. Then again in the on and off circle i got the cravings back and was pretty much at my breaking point since i was always surrounded by friends who do smoke analogs. Then my brother came down to visit in october who was a heavy smoker showed me his riva and provari and told me he quit smoking analogs. At first i laughed in my head and doubted him and i have previously tried those cheap puresmoke e cigs that were complete crap and said to myself ive tried the ecigs and it wont work. But then i tried the riva and provari and was like wow, vapor production is crazy and it feels almost like im smoking an analog! and i can chain smoke it without feeling like im dying! Nothing like the one i tried previously. To add to that the whole time my brother was visiting i never saw him smoke a analog which he would usually do at least twice an hour. He then gave me his riva and i invested in some supplies that he pointed me to. Thus my analog cycle was broken and i have never looked back. i dont even have the urges for analogs anymore when im out with friends, I just take out my e cig and vape away feeling completely satisfied. Now im in the process of converting my friends into e cigs! I have no intentions on quitting vaping just quitting analogs.

I to never really intended quitting maybe eventually even if I was an odd smoker - not by habit more for the nicotine and never at normal intervals like most smokers which I thought of even as weird... got mine last Tuesday with 30ml of 0 nic - smoked the same but was enjoying the the taste with no nic,,,,

Got my fist taste of nic Sunday at a local meet and I have to say - I pretty much quit....mind you it's only 2 days but haven't had an analog since I got the fluid and to date haven't had a hankering....

So I'm happy with the results - but still looking for the best setup / fluid.... so far Wurthers 24mg and eGo-T waiting for silicone caps however....

Mind I still feel odd with others around, as most people look at as drug paraphernalia - till you go into the explanation...today I got from a guy - "you aren't crossing the border with that thing are you ?"
