Correct. You get what you pay for, we agree on something!!!

MVP == Cheap Chinese throwaway boxy device with no stateside warranty or post warranty service options. Eventually will be worth $0. I think its priced appropriately, as is the Provari.

I have to ask this .... do you, or have you ever owned an MVP? Because to make a statement like this, without any direct experience with the product is presumptuous, not to mention ignorant.

Now I do not own an MVP, nor have I ever, so I am certainly not defending what it is, or is not in terms of quality however, that is my point. How can I, or anyone else speak to that which we have no direct, first hand knowledge of.

So if you have owned an MVP, and found that it was a cheap Chinese throwaway, then ok, its a valid opinion, and statement to make ... but if you have not ever owned an MVP (and anything someone you know "told you" doesn't count), aside from making any opinion you have voiced instantly less credible, your opinions now reflect shallow elitism, which Provari owners are becoming increasingly associated with ... and for this reason.

It is possible to affirm what you like, and believe in, without denying the worth, and value of those things that are unlike it ... this is a note for myself as well.

How did I get thrown in there? I offered the guy Condolences ?
You were the last post before mine, and it was related to the string of posts. Nothing against you or your post. :)
I wonder if anyone will kick me out of the Provari Club if they find out I also use a V4L Titan when I want something small and hands free and that I toss a Zeus in my pocket at times as well?
I'm vaping on a Hammer clone right now. Think we'll both be kicked out?

If I like your ProVari, can I keep your ProVari?

You know damn well that won't happen. I have a Caravela clone I use sometimes. The ProVarinati are not jealous...besides...how could we kick you anywhere? What kind of an idiot kicks a porcupine?

EDIT: Changed "that's not true" to "that won't happen"

He was accurate in what he said. But it's what he didn't say that speaks volumes. It is also a throwaway boxy device the is on par with a ProVari in performance and is available at a fraction of the price.

There is no resell market for any "disposable" device. What's the point. I know that going in

How many smokers owned a Bic Lighter compared to a Zippo?

In fact Bic and Zippo are good analogies to use.

1. A Zippo is a US made lighter that has a lifetime warranty and is well built. A Bic is a foreign produced lighter that is non-refillable and designed to be thrown away
2. I can own a Bic for a fraction of the cost of a zippo
3. A Bic is more convenient because I don't need to buy fluid and flints and carry them around. If my Bic fails I buy a new Bic.
4. A Bic and zippo both produce fire.

This is practically the same with an MVP an ProVari.

No doubt that a Zippo was better built and better supported than any Bic. But that didn't stop a .... ton of people from buying bic lighters....Even people who owned Zippos.....

What's wrong with shallow elitism? I like being both shallow and an elitist!

Oh, you are a hedgehog....my bad. You guys and porcupines don't have some sort of blood rivalry or something do you? I didn't mean to insult you or your kind...

Please understand, all of you herbivores look the same to me.

He was accurate in what he said. But it's what he didn't say that speaks volumes. It is also a throwaway boxy device the is on par with a ProVari in performance and is available at a fraction of the price.

Here's the thing for me about throwaway vs. durability. When I leave the house with my Provari, I don't have to worry about it failing on me and being stuck without a vape until I can get a new one or get to my backup. I don't have to own another one as a backup for when the first fails. I don't have to go through the frustration of having my device fail on me 2 months or 4 months or 6 months down the line and having to get a new one which also has an unknown lifespan. The monetary cost is less for the throwaways, but the peace of mind of having something reliable was worth the up-front cost for me. It's the same reason my mechanic boyfriend buys Snap-on tools. He could buy tools at Harbor Freight, but he would never know when one was going to fail in the middle of a job and there's no warranty.

We make decent money, but we still buy a lot of stuff at our local thrift store not because of the cost but because of the build quality you get for the cost. I buy some disposable plasticware, but I also have a lot of vintage Tupperware that's built to last. I've bought lots of the more expensive plasticware at the grocery store, but that stuff doesn't last and gets thrown away eventually. My desk is not a particle-board job from Staples or IKEA, it's a solid wood desk I got for a reasonable price at the thrift store (comparable to a new MDF one) and it's built like a tank and will outlast me. I have dozens of examples like this (including that with 4 small dogs in the house and un-housebroken fosters coming and going, I use cloth diapers to clean up accidents rather than going through rolls of paper towels) but it boils down to not liking to have things fail on me, and wanting things that are built to last, and not wanting to feel like I'm throwing money away. Hell, even my motorhome is a 1976 classic GMC Motorhome. New motorhomes start to fall apart as soon as you buy them unless you spend a LOT of money. I *will* absolutely trade cost for convenience sometimes, but not with something I rely on.

If there was something comparable to the Provari's durability for a lesser price point, you can bet I would have bought that instead - but there's not, with the possible exception of a REO, and I'm not a fan of box mods.

Of course, sometimes that can be a disadvantage, even to a lion...

Damn, now I am talking to myself! Oh well, what else would you expect from an elitist?

I own one and it is a cheap Chinese throwaway box. I basically wasn't using mine at all until I got myself a dripper; it makes a fine desktop host for that. In fact, I'm now thiking about getting a couple more for the same purpose -- precisely because they are cheap. The other suitable choice (for me) would be a couple of XPV minis, at 3-4x the cost. I can afford whatever I want, but don't like to spend money needlessly.

I, personally have never approached a single vape related purchase with the intent of having a device that would last me for years ... never.
I do (or at least have started to) but primarily because I worry about future availability. I'm more concerned with toppers than power supplies; I'll always be able to cobble up some sort of power supply, but I want some toppers that will last forever (provided I have enough Kantal and cotton). If the "authorities" leave us alone, my worry will be irrelevant and there will keep being better and better stuff available, so getting something that will last for years is irrelevant, but... I do not want to go back to smoking traditional cigarettes and I'm pretty sure I would if I couldn't vape.

Mysterious email I received when my ProVari shipment disappeared off it's tracking radar, no message, just this:

penguin-chick.jpg

Needless to say, the Marines were called out, the ProVari Penguin Cartel was set back in it's attempts to intercept further ProVari shipments, and my ProVari arrived unscathed.

Be aware: The PVPC is among us!!!!!
