To each his own. If vaping is not for you, don't do it. I've been vaping for going on six months now and have no issues at all. Personally I think you'd have to vape for months to equal the toxins you are ingesting when you have your little one or two week cigarette smoking stint, but if it concerns you and you don't have the will power to vape moderately then it's simply not for you. I'd suggest selling your vaping gear in the classifieds but I see you're not a registered member.

If you have found a juice you really like, you can buy a bottle of the same one in 0mg and mix equal parts with the 12mg and wind up with two 6mg bottles. I've done that with a couple of mine (bought 12mg) to bring them from 0mg to 6mg. Just make sure you shake the bottles well after mixing and give them a hot water bath for an hour or so to make sure they're thoroughly blended. :)

I am a little bit confused about the hot water bath. Let them sit in a bowl under the tap with warm water running for 1 hr ?

Fair Enough.

I am using a Halo Triton. It is a brilliant machine and the flavors are wonderful. I am very happy with my purchase.

From what I have on this forum for months the Halo system has done alot in getting people off the cigs.

If you're only vaping occasionally I suppose it's good enough, but for chainvapers I worry about the plastic that alot of the common tanks are made of; that's why I recommend the miniprotank2 as a standard baseline starter tank. It's a pyrex tank.

If you are an occasional sort of vaper, it means you might leave liquid in a tank for a while with plastic leeching slowly into the liquid; you might actually taste the plastic; whereas a chainvaper might not even notice it but end up vaping alot of plastic over time.

I used plastic tanks for maybe two months, then I got some glass tanks, and after a few weeks, when I took an occasional puff off some 24mg cuban cigar that I would keep in a plastic v-nano 1milliler tank, I found increasing taste of plastic; maybe if I'd kept vaping plastic I'd have just been so used it I wouldn't notice, but because I was using glass as my main vape, an occassional puff once a day type of thing on the plastic tank was so stark with the taste of the plastic.

The Kanger Mini Protank 2 looks nice but would it fit onto a Halo Battery ? Also does it take interchangeable coils like the Halo Triton ? I just purchased a few of them.

The Stainless Steel AeroTank looks interesting. Would that work and what type of battery would it attach to ?

I think I will stay with the Halo for this upcoming trip if I decide to take it with me. Chance are I'd be using it enough during the trip not to worry too much. If it works out for me maybe I can look into something different when I return.

Not sure why the OP came on here to tell us they're done with vaping. Did you want us to try to talk you out of it? Did you want advice on how to relieve your symptoms from vaping or share in anothers experiences? If so, hold on to your vape gear and vape when the mood hits for a cigarette, Each and every cigarette you smoke takes time off your life and could possibly cause cancer down the road. E-cigs are a much better alternative.

If that's not what you wanted then, thanks for stopping by and I wish for you the best.

I don't think the halo uses the now standard 510 thread or eGo thread;

Oh ; the miniprotanks use the eGo thread; mechanically solid hold on the battery without congesting the airflow and electrical; it's the reason I recommend it and not the 'protank' itself which like most other tanks, come with the 510 thread;

The battery won't last forever anyway; might as well use if while you have it, but if you're going to buy another battery, the standard nowadays are the eGo type with the 510 thread as well as the eGo thread.

point being; how you smoked gives no idea of how you'll vape. everybody's different.

I won't say it gives no indication, but IMO it is a starting point only and can sometimes be way off. People starting to vape should buy different nic levels and experiment with them. I suspect that some people who do this would stay with more than one nic level which would be a good thing too. The more tools and options you have the better.

OP, I am not going to give an opinion on whether you should or shouldn't vape. That's up to you.

My perspective: I was a pack a day (at least) smoker from age 13 to almost 30, and quit cold turkey 14 years ago next month.

I started vaping for a few reasons, chief among them because I've struggled with my weight for my entire life (being 5'2", female, and hitting middle age doesn't help) and once again was at a weight I wasn't comfortable with. I was laid off last May, was unemployed for several months, but now work from home. I am someone who eats when they're bored and has a hard time distinguishing real hunger from boredom hunger so the weight started to creep back up with so much ready access to food and so much free time. I also LOVED smoking, but I will never pick up another cigarette again.

I started to vape as a replacement for snacking and loved it from the second I tried it because it had everything I liked about smoking and nothing I didn't. I started at 0mg but moved to 6mg and vape that pretty much exclusively now; it's a very mild appetite suppressant (I eat meals, but don't snack, and can tell when I'm actually hungry) and it seems to help me focus (ADHD).

I can't vape 12mg. It's too much for me and makes me dizzy and sick. I can chain-vape 6mg all day without any ill effects, but 12 makes me feel really ill.

Unlike when I was smoking, I can go for quite a while without vaping and don't have any "nic fits." I'm not sure how addictive nicotine is on its own. For me it's really the action of vaping and the taste that I crave, not the nicotine.

I tend to agree with everyone else that your nic level is too high for a non-smoker. I'd drop it down to 6 (or less) if you want to keep vaping and see how that goes.

As for risks, all of the research I've done myself shows that it's negligible at best (the Drexler study is a good one to read) but that's your call to make too.

For me, vaping has been really great, and I don't have any of the side effects from smoking (no coughing or wheezing, my lungs feel just as they did before I started - clean as a whistle).

And that's my 5 cents!

OMG Coelli,

That is almost my story exactly, 'cept Im a guy, smoked 2 1/2 PaD from 25 to 49, quit 5 years ago, put on that "magic 25lbs" as my metabolism slowed down but NEVER picked up another cig. My sister can smoke around me and I just think they stink. The thing I really missed most about smoking WAS the nic, so when I discovered ecigs I was in heaven cause now I can get the nic w/o all the tar, etc...since starting vaping I feel more "alive", (I know that sounds weird, but I just feel more energized) and to this day I believe I would cough up a lung if I took a drag offa my sister's smoke. So I have zero interest in ever smoking the analogs ever again, but I really enjoy how the vaping a bit of nic makes me feel. Was I a little dizzy the first few days, sure, but I just slowed down a bit and now I don't overdo it, nor do I feel the addicted need to. YMMV

eta: and yes, now at night, watching tv, if I want something sweet I can "vape" some banana cream pie, or whatever and voila, no night snacking!!!!

Yeah, exactly. I only eat when I'm actually hungry now. :) I lost several pounds pretty quickly and then it slowed down but it's still on a downward trend - about 12 pounds in the last couple of months. Biggest side effect of vaping for me: I need new pants!

Thanks for those tips! I have an 18mg that I think is aging into something I'd really like, but I'm scared to death of it at this point, after it made me so sick. Now I know there's a little more to do than just mix in a 0nic version of it -- I really appreciate it! :thumb:

I appreciate this tip, too. The stuff I vape regularly doesn't stay in the tank long enough to absorb anything, I vape it up so fast! I'm getting a Pyrex tank this week, as soon as the USPS deigns to bring it, and if I like it, I plan on getting at least 2 more of the same design (ARO pyrex). I'll remember to use it for stuff that might sit a while, as well as for all the plastic-tank-crackers I'm interested in.

I noticed this, too; now, instead of running outside at every commercial and stuffing my face with junk food while actually watching, I can just sit there and vape -- I'm snacking a LOT less, and I told my husband that I think I'll be the first person to ever LOSE weight from quitting smoking. :p But maybe not, if others are experiencing a similar phenomenon.

I've never understood why people go onto forums to say they are quitting on whatever it is the forum is about. They then attack said subject and then act offended when they don't get everybody agreeing with them and cheering them on.

If you only smoked while drinking and during trips, then why did you feel the need to vape nonstop for 3 weeks?

It didn't seem like vaping was a viable option for you to begin with. Maybe a Blu or Njoy would've been a perfect option. And still is.
