I stand corrected.

I should be careful, I have rubbed some very intelligent members the wrong way today with my self-important bullying...or something like that. I did not make any art for this one...

Mother of God! It's over 90 degrees outside and we are having a massive hail storm! I often say I live in the land of sand and ice.

Take cover!

Back from watering hole. Interesting scene there. I better get to bed now.

stardusts is another name for top coil ce4's right?

That's my understanding, yes. They are good when they work right, but a problem if they don't. I do have problem with the disposable nature of them, but that's just a personal thing. I completely understand that many do not wish to have to fiddle with CE5s, heads, wick and wire etc ad nauseum. I have tried a couple and that's how I know they respond well to the same top cap trick as the CE5s, Vivis etc. They just wick so much better if you notch the cap so it doesn't press on the wicks so much.

so far i am liking the Protank....i think i needed the head to break in or i got used to it? LOL I am for sure going to get a puritank when it is back in stock.

The Protank and the Vapeonly have been a revelation to me. They vape as well or better than my Phoenix dripping atty and are way more practical for work and travelling. You'll have to elaborate on your leaking problems however - is it an original Protank (Kangertech name etched on the bottom cap) and is it the top cap that is leaking? There was apparently a known problem with the early ones which we touched on earlier in this thread - the bit about silicone sealant types and Eddard posted his fix: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/eddardinwinter/4459-protank-preservation.html

I thought all the current Kangertech ones should be OK.

I have two different cartomizer tanks that go bonkers...mostly flooding and i can't figure out if the tank seals are too tight or there is an air leak somewhere...so i quit fiddling with them and put them in my "can this be salvaged" bin :)

Cartos really shouldn't flood. Possible causes: holes punched to large, really tight draw, or *really* thin liquid. (or a combination of these factors)

so sorry for your loss :(
frolick and rip squeaks until we see you again sweet boy :)

Thanks, Hamish was our special boy. He loved people and if you sat on the lounge he would come and throw himself on you to get cuddles. He had a basket of toys (all with squeakers ripped out) but had his favourites. It was funny to see him pulling toys out to find the one that he wanted or the one we told him to find. If he couldn't find it he would turn the basket over so that they all spilled out on the floor. He got some kind of liver problem, possibly a cancer. We never found out because he was gone before the vet had a chance to investigate.

center post. i changed out the head...we'll see if i just got a dud on the first try

Oh, OK. Our posts crossed over. A bottom coil that decides to leak can be a pain. I once had a CE3 that leaked it's entire contents onto my desk immediately after filling for the first time. The usual cause is simple and easy to fix - the wicks are too compacted and there's a gap through which the liquid leaks. All you have to do is fluff the wicks up a bit so that there's no gap, and as long as they haven't left a wick out or something it should be fine.

I just did this to mine coincidentally. I had it on my new K-100 empire clone and I think I cooked it a little so decided to give it a wash. Afterwards I notice that the wick did not quite fully fill the hole so I pressed on it a few times (on the end of the wick) to fluff it back up a little. No leaks so far.

I think I need a kick for my mechanicals. Variable unknown voltages are doing my head in, plus I've come to the realisation that these Protanks and Vapeonly Megas don't need any more than 5 watts. Maybe 5.5 watts if you want to fog the room up a little. A lot of the problems I've had with liquids starting to taste bad seem to have been because I've been using 7 or 8 watts. I'm now a fan of the more gentle approach.

I discovered right off the back that Protanks like lower power, regardless of what the resistance is. I also learned not to let them get below 1/2 full (I can't remember who told me that). They can have quirky leaking issues, similar to a CE4 actually, but I spent some quality time with Miss Pro and I've learned how to respond to her moods.

Most juices I vape at 6-6.5 watts on my protank. I do have a couple of flavors (all DIY) that like 7 Watts. Any higher and the juice seems to burn. one big BUT though...I wrap my own coils so I am probably running at a different "ohmage" than the stock heads at 2.8-3.2 for my coils.

I have never had a leak from my protank even down to the last 1/10th of a tank. That might be my thicker juice though (50/50).

My Vivi nova however continues to be a pain in my backside for those odd drops of juice on my battery post. :p
