I've never used anything but Vivi novas and still have my originals which i keep rebuilding. I had them since Jan. and they are still going strong. I think that all systems come with their own set of problems from what I've been reading on the forums and also on this thread. I don't know How many times I've read about the Protank leaking but it's got to be in the hundreds by now. Like i said though I've never used anything else but Vivi novas so cannot form an opinion on that subject.However. That said. I do respect both of your opinions on the subject and therefore I've ordered myself a Protank mainly because they look nice and have a better fit to the vamo and Tesla. I just hope it doesn't leak else i'll be gunning for you both

And me. Protanks are great. There's a little card that comes with the Protank the gives you suggestions for voltages at certain coil resistances. Use it, the volts are less than you think, but they equate to 6 - 6.5 watts.
Normal story: Someone gets a Protank and tries to run it at 8 watts. This works fine for a little while and the user is impressed by the huge clouds of vapour and big flavour, but then it starts to burn the juice. User comes on ECF and complains about burning. Other users reply and say all the user has to do is take some of the flavour wicks out because it's not wicking fast enough. User does that, but all that happens is that the coil floods and gurgles. Someone (often me, it seems) points out that Kanger recommend 6.5 watts which is then jumped on by people saying they vape a Protank at 11 watts.
Here's the real story: The first few vapes on a protank are a little cold. Don't be put off by this. You can run it at 8 watts for a few puffs if you like, but do NOT forget to turn it back down. You'll know when it's up to temperature, the base will feel warm. If you're running it at 6.5 watts and it's a really cold day or you are vaping a thick juice you may indeed need it to wick a little faster. The way to do this is to turn the little rubber cap that fits over the head upside down. Removing flavour wicks should be the last resort, not the first port of call.
A few other tips:
*If you think the vapour is good at first, wait until the glass is warm and the coil is run in, which takes about 1ml or so.
*If you do burn the coil you might as well change it out. It's always going to taste like doggy doo-doo.
*If you don't take flavour wicks out you can usually vape them down to the last drop.
*If you do take a flavour wick out, then it's more likely to flood the lower the level in the tank (it's to do with the larger amount of air which can expand and let liquid into the coil more easily)
*It's bottom coil/wick; it's going to get over saturated (flooded) overnight or from time to time. Turn it upside down and blow through the base. Give it a flick to expel any extra drops in the tube and you're good to go.
*If you can't get it working right, send it to fabricator4 C/- Mackay Queensland
I'm also a fan of the Vapeonly Mega which preceded the Protank, but they really are fiddly. I had to open up the airflow and they really do have a tendency to flood easily. Great Vapour though...
I always found that the CE5s, Vivis etc, while they didn't exactly leak as such, they always let a drop of juice through to the 510 connector. I was always taking the device off and cleaning it. The Protanks don't do this. It just seems to be a bit of condensation at the end of the day, even if it has flooded. I think this is due to the design of the head.
