I do like a black CF wrap, but I really like the look of the SS alone. Glad I got it over the chrome or black chrome.

Noice and good to know, just ordered a couple of these puppies. I am confused about the whole battery thing tho. Do you use 1 or... Think I was told to order Efest Battery IMR18650.

One's best (at a time; having 2 batteries and alternating them so you don't run out is always a good idea).

You can stack batteries in the Vamo if you want to, but you should always have matched pairs, check them carefully, alternate the order of the batteries each time you insert them, and did I mention watching them carefully?

While not terribly dangerous, I avoid stacking and just use a single 18650. Efest are good batteries and will work just fine.

Is the chrome also a fingerprint magnet? It's the one thing that drives me nuts about my gun-metal.

I've tried everything. Rain-X, no go. Museum wax, nope. Window wax, nope. Car wax...reduced the slipperiness a lot, actually, but still gets fingerprint marks.

Not sure if it's my lighting or what but I haven't really noticed much fingerprints. I do look at it and admire it from time to time. I think it looks great especially with the polished DCA. Funny, I didn't think I would be interested in any mods before. I was all for the ones that looked like cigarettes. and call me weird, because I know how most people don't like Blu, but I still like them and use them when I go out. For some reason I like the flavors and have also stuck their cartridges on the ego and vamo which works well too.

Actually, with stainless tubes I'm not too worried. As I mentioned above, I'm going to experiment on the Bolts with spray on rubber coating. The black chrome is just too pretty to mess with, but stainless is different. Instead of coating, I may find a way to chuck the tubes up in a lathe and either cut a series of small grooves, or perhaps try to knurl them. I really, really like the idea of fine pitch knurls, but some grades of stainless can be tricky. Or maybe rough them up with sand blasting. And I know a guy with a new CNC laser etching machine.......the possibilities are endless!

OK, the title of this post is a bit deceptive. This is a great mod, packed full of features. For a low price VV/VW unit, this thing is fantastic! Good build quality, ease of use, full of features, and it is a vaping machine! Forty one or two bucks delivered to my door. What a deal.

So what's the problem? I HATE THE FINISH!!! I got the black chrome, and it is beautiful. But I hate holding it. Too shiny and smooth. With the weight of an 18650 battery, it constantly slips down in my hand.

For six dollars and sixty cents more, I could, and should, have bought the stainless version. In 4 short weeks, I've spent many, many hundreds of dollars, and I'm having a blast! In spite of that, I skimped out on $6.60 when I KNEW I really wanted the stainless. If I understand correctly, it is not just a stainless finish, but an actual stainless tube with some grip to it. I hope so, because I ordered a stainless version last night.

If my plan to get my sister off cigs and onto vaping works, this black chrome Vamo will be a great birthday present!

And it's not just the Vamo finish I don't like. Package arrived with my two Bolt battery mods, $19.95 each. (Of course, I don't need two Bolts, but 20 bucks each? I'll take two, please!). These have more of a grainy painted finish, but are still very slick. With these, I plan on using some of the spray on rubberized tool handle stuff. Should be fun!

So, if you suspect you are like me, spend the few extra bucks for the stainless!

I concur.

I made my decision carefully. I was in love with the finish of the black chrome, but upon seeing that there's an SS finish available, I went with that. I used to have a Tungsten ring that was finished in black, and although the Tungsten held up very well, the finish did not. So, slippery-ness aside, I am glad I went the stainless steel route.

The grip on the SS isn't hugely anti slip, but it is an improvement over the chrome/black chrome finishes.

I too thought about using a rubberized dip/spray on some modes. Please, keep us updating on the progress of those!

I know someone who got that (black carbon), because he felt much the same way as the OP does; about his Vamo. He loves it - said it works very well and doesn't look bad. Good suggestion, and great find on that clear carbon! That pretty cool.

I'm almost at the point of stepping up to my first mod (using 650 spinners right now and love them, but I'm getting more and more caught up in the hobby aspect of vaping lol) and the 2 I'm looking at are the new Lavatube and the Vamo, so I've been doing a lot of research the past week or so. To me, nothing out there looks anywhere near as good as the LT, but I like the additional functions on the Vamo. Personally I think the Vamo looks like someone went out to their garage and grabbed some spare parts, but it has everything you could want in a mod...

Ha! That description isn't very far off. In all honesty, in person it looks pretty nice. I like it, because it's rugged, it's plain (not too worried about scratching it) and it's -relatively- cheap. In my humble opinion, it's a very good option for someone's first APV. I too am looking at the Lavatube (or, at least another companies version of it). It's hard to know what links are acceptable here, so Google: MVari Variable Voltage Mod. The outside looks more rugged and textured (the black version that hopefully came up in your search). I'm interested in the 18350 version.

I have 2 different ego-c twists and the voltages are a little off, no big deal really, but the Vamo is spot on. I say buy a Vamo for less than a carton of cigarettes. Whatever you buy, I bet it won't be your last mod anyway. who knows, in the end you may end up with both. happened to me.

I feel ya, believe me I do... For me it's not so much the price, just tat that LT looks so damn good to me... I don't doubt that the Vamo is a solid unit, but it just looks bad to me... I don't necessarily mean looks cheap, but just not aesthetically pleasing to look at...

I got the SS one and I absolutely love it. It is my first real mod and I ordered it with a mini vivi nova. I am in love!
