... I like my $20 Protank better than my $150 Cobra.

It's not that I don't have the Cobra "working right", or anything like that. My initial attempts at wicking/coiling resulted in getting it wrong in several different ways, and once you get it right you can tell. You know. There are also some aspects to the Genny that are a bit better: warmer, stronger vape, a little more robust. But I LOVE the smooth, airy draw of the Protank, and the ease of the draw far-&-away trumps everything else. I know some have taped over some of the little slots because it's too airy, but it's not too airy for me. It's perfect. Someone around here once compared a tight draw to "sucking a thick milkshake through a straw", and the Cobra is something like that. Not bad, but not nearly as nice as the Protank.

Dare I drill the air hole out in the Cobra? Or drill a second hole? And how would I choose the right size hole? Plus, the build of the Cobra is of much higher quality, so I don't want to sell it or give it away because I know it will last longer than I will. I like the Cobra, and I like rebuilding the atomizer coil and wick. But I would like an easier, airier draw. Maybe I should have gotten (or still get) a ZAP instead, as I hear they're quite airy...

Anyone else have a Cobra that they were able to make airier by drilling?

I don't own a cobra but for real you need to drill out a bigger hole if you love the protanks airyness...
My aga and rsst was drilled out today and that's all it took.

I have a couple Cobras, a couple ZAPs, and several other RBAs with draws in between the two. I'm kind of a purist, I guess. I like each for what it is. I have other RBAs that I've drilled out; but for whatever reason, I don't find the tight draw of the Cobra objectionable. I know that there are folks that drill them out. If you decide to, I'd suggest about 1.2mm for starters. You can always go bigger, if that's not enough. Be aware that the Cobra top cap is titanium; and will be somewhat harder to drill than stainless.

I also like the draw of the cobra. Even with the tight draw, you get plenty of flavor, TH, and vapor. I have drilled out allot of my devices to 1/16, I do like the airy draw on some devices while I have a few with tighter ones. I don't think I can ever drill out my cobra, I think it would just ruin it and make it just another atty.

I agree with your comments about the Cobra in terms of flavor, TH and vapor, but I guess it's a subjective thing and everyone is different. The tight draw makes it work, and thus my whole body "gets tense" (just a little) to take a vape. I want the Cobra to be perfect, which for me means a completely relaxed, easy and insouciant draw, so if I'm say, reading or working on something, I can just take a casual vape without interrupting my train of thought because I'm vaping. With the tight draw, its: Stop whatever I'm doing, vape, and then return to whatever business is at hand.

It's all very subtle, and of course in the grand scheme of things trivial, but it makes a difference. I may as well try drilling the hole, because if I somehow make the Cobra worse, I'll probably just get a ZAP anyway, so in terms of money it's a wash...
