Let´s start off by saying that (before anyone asks and judges) I do not own a mechanical mod (yet) since I don´t feel that safe about them yet, and one of the main reasons are venting. What I´m asking is: how do I know my venting holes are big enough? 10 small or 5 big does´nt tell anyone very much, does anyone have any information on how big they would have to be to make sure IF a battery would vent, that enough gas will get out of the tube?
Kind regards.

I don't worry too much about venting. The fact it has it is usually good enough for me. I focus more on my battery limits and knowing the safety there first.
I´ve read so much about safety, and I still do and probably will do even when i get one, but what if it ventilates, and your vent holes were not big enough, is not that basically a pipe bomb in your hand? Of course I should not worry too much, but sine I am a careful guy, I would like to know just when they vent holes could be insufficient.

The thing is, if you buy good batteries and build safety the chances of a cell venting are really really low. Your mobile phone is probably as likely to vent as a safely build mech mod.

Just ensure there is venting. I don't think anyone here will come up with a recommended amount of air holes for this.
I think you are very much right on what you are saying, I will probably buy one soon and maybe post a picture if I am unsure, thank you for the help. But concerning batteries, I have only used Efest 18650 20A continous and I have two pairs of LGHE418650 batteries, since I don´t fully trust Efest other than in my regulated Kbox, would a LGHE4 be suitable battery for a mech mod?

I own both the cells you have stated and I would only use the LG's in a mech mod.

Sony vtc4/5's, Samsung 25r's and LG's are the only batteries I really "trust".

Buy one and enjoy it. Know your ohms law and the rating of the cells and you are safe as far as reasonably practicable.
Well I´m glad that i got LG as a battery I can trust and I´m using Ohms law in Electronics class enough, and thank you very much for the help, happy vaping!

But wouldn't holes at the top result in if venting that the heat and gases would blow you in the face? If you would use not noticing that it vents?

Probably better than having the top of the mod blow off and shoot through your face. Batteries vent from the top.

As baditude & others have warned us, the battery tends to vent at the positive end. As it expands, it can seal the path through a tube to holes near the bottom.

Your first warning is that the mod will get way hot.

Probably better than having the top of the mod blow off and shoot through your face. Batteries vent from the top.

Thank you for being very helpful, I am a newbie I admit, and you probably knew from the beginning, but thank you for your time, I´ll look up Baditudes post now and read it through, and thanks to you, I feel safe enough to buy my first mech, when it´s done I´ll post a pic somewhere of it! Thanks once again and Happy Vaping people!

As Roxy mentioned. The Location of the Vent Hole(s) is Very Important also.

Since 18xxx Batteries are Designed to Vent from the Positive End, if the Battery Swells, or if the Battery Wrap Melts, it could prevent Venting Gases from reaching a Vent Hole(s) at the Switch End of a Mech Mod.

BTW - I think it is Cool when someone Asks Question about things like Safety Issues. So don't feel like these are Newbie Questions that shouldn't be Asked.

Quality batteries from Sony, Samsung and LG tend not to go into full blown thermal runaway except possibly with a hard short on a "hybrid top" mech. So top vent holes should be sufficient to allow gasses to escape and not cause catestrophic injury. The moment you feel that heat or hear hissing/see gasses, let go and get away.

Yeah, I´ve learned that hybrids are a no no for beginners, but if it actually would vent, and I´m in my room e.g. since lithium reacts with water throwing it in a bucket of it isn´t a good idea, should I might try to cover it or just get outta there and hope my room isn´t on fire later on? ;)
