I have quit vaping

I never thought I would say this, but after about 7 weeks of unbearable coughing while vaping, I have started smoking again.

Four different doctors and a ton of medication did nothing to help, so I really had no choice. Two days of not vaping and I'm coughing much less.

It feels really weird to be smoking again. And I sure don't like it.

Hmm... well obviously there's not enough info in the original post for any real deduction as to the real cause. I agree with jonny. Other considerations are the hairs in your lungs are finally coming back to life and purging the crap they've been laden with from years of smoking? Natural aging making you more susceptible to the natural drying process of vaping? Have you tried getting a home humidifier to add some moisture into the air you breathe around the home? Are you drinking 10 oz glasses of water or clear liquids a day? Did you mention to the doctors that you vape? Often if you give them something to blame, they're less likely to look for other possibilities which could be the cause. I can't imagine every coughing from using my eGo-T. The vapor is so light, and so cool, and so not intense... I'm pretty sure I could use it 24/7 and never cough. I have a liquid (same mg and PG/VG blend as the others I use without problem), that gives me some coughing issues to the point where I "see stars" and get a little light-headed. Its a cola flavor (obviously I'll be throwing it away). Did you try many different juices? Did you even cough using a straight non-tobacco menthol?

I ask these exhaustive questions because it is unfathomable to me that someone can be a super-member and year+ vaper, and have posted near 400 times... but return to cigarettes. Even after 7 weeks I know I'll never return to cigarettes. If vaping ever becomes a problem, I'll either try every device/juice/trick to continue, or I'll quit vaping but NOT return to cigarettes. Very very strange. If you ever find resolution or cause, please update us. Good luck.

It's really not so strange to return to smoking if that's the only way I can get a hit of nic (which I need). I was totally in love with vaping and I sure as hell didn't want to start smoking again.
Yes, the doctors knew I was vaping. They had no opinion on that. I was treated mostly with antibiotics and anti-virals because they thought it was an infection making me cough. But it seems far more likely that it was vaping considering my cough is finally getting much better.
I own three different e-cigs and have about 20 flavors of juice. I tried many different pg/vg variations.

It sounds like vaping just isn't for you. Your body was telling you something was wrong, and if quitting seems to be helping than it sounds like that is the way you should go. Vaping isn't for everyone, statistically speaking it can't be. Hopefully you can find something else to help you along with reducing or eliminating cigarettes. Good luck!

Unless you are a medical professional with years of experience, I wouldn't try to deduce anything. You wouldn't want a baker to try and figure out what is wrong with your car right? There are innumerable reasons why someone could not vape. Allergies, intolerance to additives in flavoring, all kinds of things. It isn't for us to decide, I am in health care and would never venture a layman's diagnosis. He said his own doctors had no comment, and if quitting is helping alleviate his symptoms then that is what he should do. If he takes up smoking again there are other alternatives. I understand you are newer, and may not understand that even after a year stories creep up on here of people returning to smoking even after 2 years of vaping all the time. Everyone is an individual and their struggle is theirs. This isn't a magic bullet, it's a great way to at least reduce the harm from cigarettes.

I know many people have a sensitivity to PG and fewer to VG (I'm one of them), so, yeah, I imagine that there must exist some unlucky people who are sensitive to both. I do find it odd that it would show up a year later, but perhaps the OP had some lung damage that was masking the sensitivities and when it healed they were evident. Weird.

I, as well, would not presume to guess what might be the issue .. I just hope I don't have it after I've been a PV user as long ..

Truer words were never spoken. It just flatout stinks (ha) to go back to smoking after you've become a full-time, happy vaper. What's funny is that I'm vaping and smoking now - which for me (me only, don't freak) may be the worst of both worlds. But I can't stop either now.

Please let us know when your cough goes away completely.
What tests did your doctor run?
I'd put my money on snus over analogs any day; regardless if it's not advertized as a safer alternative.
Best of luck to you.

Well after vaping for 8 months I don't think it is the cause of your cough but maybe it is aggravating what ever the true reason for the cough is . If you had said you starting coughing during the first month then maybe just maybe I would think that is the reason but not 8 months later . Maybe after what ever is making you cough clears up you can start vaping again .

You could be right. The truth of the matter is that nobody knows. If I ever get my snus I will use that exclusively, then try vaping again about a month later and see what happens.

Thank you. You are right about analogs. I hate them. I just hope I get my snus ASAP. Customs have stated they will release it to me after appropriate scientific testing. God save me.

As far as the tests on me, the doctors did blood tests and an x-ray and asked a lot of questions and listened to my chest.
