I've noticed my V3 clearomizer is fogging up and smearing - also the metal on top has come loose meaning I can no longer use it...

I've read about this and the fruity flavours + plastic receptacles, I'm guessing my Decadent Vapours - Cherry cola, Rainbow Fruit and/or Totally Wicked -Pineapple and/or some other juice (any ideas which one?) has caused this reaction.

Thankfully I have switched over to Ego-C + cartridges from Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid recently, the problem is I've read about the same problem/reaction from juices in these devices as well.

What's going to happen to my atty and/or cartridge? is it safe to vape on until it withers away? how do I avoid this?

Many thanks :)

That list of volatile flavors is in my blog article: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...6-something-safe-cinnamon-citrus-flavors.html

It has a video of a tank melting from a volatile juice, and recommended devices to vape these flavors.

I'm sorry to say that your clearomizer is ruined, and don't vape any more of the juice from that device. The plastic likely has leached potentially harmful chemicals into the juice.

Cola has cinnamon in it, and cinnamon is a known tank-destroyer flavor. Pinapple could also be a culprit being a citrus flavor. However, not all cinnamon or citrus flavors crack or melt polycarbonate or acrylic plastic.

Pyrex glass, polypropylene plastic (frosted appearance), and metal devices are safe to use with all flavors. It is important to point out that these flavors are not harmful to vape in of themselves, only when they come into contact with the two plastics and begin leaching chemicals into the juice.

You have a lot of this figured out already Smithy. I don't have an opinion on which juice it is, but I do on safety.

When plastic degrades it may leach unknown chemicals into your juice. I would not vape this. It could be nasty. The eGo-C atties are metal and are immune to this degradation. The plastic tanks are a question mark for me. I've never heard of them reacting to juice, so don't know, but it is possible.

I like cinnamon juice, which is known to degrade plastic. I use it in a Vivi Nova with a metal sleeve and drip tip. There are also glass tanks you can use with cartomizers.

HTH and stay safe!

any thoughts on a degradation immune kit that'll fit a 510 ego ?

My thoughts exactly Ryedan, I may have 'quit accidentally' but I've been trying to kick the habit that leads to lung cancer for years. If I can I would like to continue this enjoyable past time as well as do it safely :)

is the same applicable to these cartridges : VapeEscape Ego-T cartridges ?

If so what is a good alternative kit those cartridges and potentially this base + cone

Ego-C cone and Base

My rig uses the same catridges your ego-t does.

I just ordered myself a Kanger Pro tank which is pyrex glass and replaces the entire ego cone/atty tank. It just screws on. There are also Vivi Nova's but you need to be sure to get the replacement metal tube/tank/sleeve for it (with no plastic window mind).

Honestly the ego tank system kinda stinks all around. They attys are expensive at near $5 each (compared to the protank heads at $2). The ego tank system just doesn't hold much juice. The ego atomizers also clog and burn up fast.

So I am switching over to other alternatives. For my plastic safe juices I am using CE5 clearomizers and for my more caustic juices I will be using a protank as soon as my vapemail comes in. :)

The plastic in those cartridges appear to be frosted, so likely they are made from polypropylene and safe against degrading juice flavors.

I have other options listed in the blog article I linked to earlier.
