Hi all,
I met a fabulous guy (ebbrey) in the town I live in. And I tried his provari.
Wonderful.

No I have a provari, but no atomizer or cartomizer.. I have a lot of juice, but not able to smoke it.
Waiting for my shipment with a Boge atomizer and cartomizer..
Any suggestions of what I should buy as a starter kit, to experiment with?

Hi. Good choice for a first ecig "mod"!! To be clear, at this point you don't need a starter kit. Starter kits include batteries charger and atomizer/cartridges/tanks/ whatever. You have the provari, I assume with batteries and a charger. You have juice. You have cartomizers on the way. All you need to do is wait for the cartomizers and you are set. If you don't know how you should youtube filling cartomizers for instructions. Basically just drip juice into the cartomizer until the filler won't accept any more. When you fill them don't vape full drags right away. To make sure the filler is fully saturated you should probably take smallish puffs and brief presses of the button to make sure you taste the juice and not burning filler. I don't know what ohm cartos you ordered but start off at 3.5 volts and work your way up from there until you are happy with the vape/flavor/throat hit.

btw if cartomizers are to be what you will use I suggest getting a tank/carto setup so you don't have to keep dripping into the cartomizer. MANY or all or most of the ecig sites sell them. Here's one that I like
http://www.smoktek.com/SmokTank-XL--6ml-Dual-Coil-Cartomizer-Tank--Smoke_p_223.html
Good price and quick shipping. I don't do much shopping around so you may want to but I think they're good. For replacement cartos I prefer the single coil replacement cartos which most sites, from my observation, don't offer. The site I linked you to does. For provari always make sure to get 510 connection cartomizers. Anything else you'll need an adaptor to attach.

There is one other thing you may want if using cartomizers - that's a drip tip or 2 they fit onto the end of the cartomizer and just make them more comfortable to use. Then if you want to try dripping onto an atomizer you can use them for that as well :)

I second the suggestion of a cartomizer tank, that's what I use on my Provari and I don't have to do anything to it all day, just vape happily :)

Thank you all for your nice replies.
I have a drip-tip now and atomizers and cartomizers.
I have a problem though:
All my flavours are so strong. I have tried different vg/pg mixes, but they all tend to become so strong.
Some times I can smoke it one day and it is ok. But the next day it is killing me. It is so strong and nasty to the throat..
I've tried lowering the volts, but it doesen't help much.. Can it be that I'm in some way damaging the atomizers?

Congrats on choosing the Provari, it was my first purchase and I've not regretted it one bit.

As to the issue of the overpowering vape, is it flavourful or burnt tasting?

The cartomizers do need to be topped up often and once they run too dry and
you continue using it the harsh/burnt taste may never leave the carto.
Keep them topped up! A cartomizer is both a cartridge and an atomizer built into a single unit.

The atomizer on the other hand may be cleaned out by flushing it with some plain
PG and blowing out the excess.

When you say "cartomizers" if you are referring to the cartridge that sits atop the atomiser
it is actually a "cartridge" you have there, not a cartomizer. If the cartridge filler gets "burnt" from being used when it isn't soaked enough with juice you'll need to replace the filler material or just grab a new cart.

Jargin....Carto=cartomizer(cart+atomizer all in one)
Cart= A plastic piece with filler material that sits atop an atomizer.
Atomizer= can be used with a drip tip to drip drops of juice right onto the coil.

Sorry if you knew all this already, hope you find a solution to the issues you're having.:toast:

You may also want to try thinning down a small portion of your juice with plain PG to weaken the flavour some.

When I check the ohm on the provari (ao), which I belive should tell the ohm on the cartomizer it indicates 3.0.
I have tried settings from 3-4 volt on the provari. And the nic level is high (35mg) and the 'Strawberry Menthol' flavour in this example is pg/vg 50-50 based. I have also tried other flavours that has the same harse effect..

Can this harse throat effect occur on both my atomizer and my cartomizer if I smoke it dry, or do any other error? I'm new at this so maybe I am not waiting long enough before I take a drag? Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Here is one way to fill a cartomizer. After you fill it the first time, you'll need to top it off after vaping for awhile.

A PBusardo Tutorial : Filling Boge 510 Cartomizers - YouTube

With atomizers, you need to drip somewhere from 3-5 drops, vape that until your flavor starts getting off (which isn't long at all) and drip some more.

If you have burnt your carto or your atomizer, they are trash because once they get burnt, they will always taste burnt.

Hang in there! There's a learning curve to all of this, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be VERY happy you did!

...the nic level is high (35mg)...

Can this harse throat effect occur on both my atomizer and my cartomizer if I smoke it dry, or do any other error?

The "throat hit" effect is more intense with this 35mg level of nic. A lower level such as 18mg would be milder.

If an atomizer or cartomizer is smoked dry, it has a terrible taste and a quick, sharp irritation to the back of the throat, such as you might get from inhaling the smoke of burning plastic. Atomizers may sometimes be successfully cleaned and reused but burnt cartomizers are always permanently ruined.

It may be that you, as a new vaper, have some throat irritation from the PG and VG in the liquid. I had this myself when I first started vaping. It's best to drink water or perhaps tea while vaping to keep the throat moist.

I belive I might have smoked both the atty and carty dry. When I filled my atomizers I have always just dripped 12-18 drops inside it, never used the 'condom method' as posted above. And my atomizers I have always just added 3 drops and smoked away..
I will try the 'condom method' to fill my cartomizer and then I'll hopefully get another result..
Thanks for your answers this far :)

The best way to fill a cartomizer is with a syringe; this way you can know exactly how much liquid is being added. I am able to get 1.2mL into a standard length carto and this completely saturates the filler. It's necessary to blow through the carto's central hole to clear the excess liquid, losing about 0.1mL in the process, but it's worth it to prevent any dry spots which can cause the burnt taste. The carto can also be used immediately, there is no need to wait for the liquid to spread through the filler.

Sounds like you're not putting enough juice in your carto or in the atomizer. In a standard carto, I use anywhere between 25-30 drops, trying not to get any through the center hole. This method takes a little longer, but is less messy IMHO, and no need for a syringe. If the juice doesn't want to wick into the filler, blow it gently till it does. With the atomizers, make sure you've blown out the primer. It can leave a harsh taste as well.
