Let's just say my future may not be looking too bright. vaping this morning (PDT zone) and set off detectors in my office, which triggered the entire building.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm: First issue in 7 months of doing it in the office (+1 day).

I think the only thing that may save my :censored: is that up to this point there have been no actual rules on restricting vaping to outdoors only. I am going to assume there will be some put out very shortly. Although the firemen were really cool about it, not sure upsetting the schedule of a 2-Star, 2 Full Birds, and a boatload of GS's is going to be looked on with a favorable light.

Although I guess there is a good thing to having a skill-set that is hard to replace in the middle of nowhere.

You wouldn't believe how adrenaline charged I am right now......

How do they know it was you? Deny deny deny

Because the system tells them which actual detector in which actual room was triggered. At that point I figured owning up was the better option. Both of my bosses were standing on either side, to defend my actions, as they actually approve of my vaping. (get more work done, since I don't have to constantly leave a secured facility to smoke anymore)

Otherwise, I was right there with you.....

Man, not sure if it's a smoke detector or glass break detector directly over my head...was assuming glass break since I'm next to a window....but I'm taking this as a reminder to hold vape in longer or waft waft waft when I forget!

Sorry you're having to deal with this pmcode, good luck!!

Just as with how the smoke detectors can go off from cooking -be it boiling water or burning food- they can be set off by vaping. I personally have never had an issue, but my clouds never linger long enough to do anything. If they do I use a fan or waft them away. Perhaps while at work just blow across your desk or under it. The quicker the vapor settles the less obvious things get.

Hope things work in your favor regardless.

Since you have your bosses permission and they were right with you... I don't think much can happen?
If there is no policy prohibiting vaping then you did nothing wrong.
At worst they will maybe now make a policy against it?

That is what I am thinking, and it sucks that I may be considered the "cause" of a ban. Funny thing is, my office mate that was here at the time when the alarm sounded, said she looked over and didn't really see much of a cloud over my cube, nor did she say she could even smell anything. A few times in the last month she has smelled my vape, but it never set anything off until today.

keep us posted, some of us could easily find ourselves in the same boat less we heed the lesson : no big clouds in federal buildings

yup. i was vaping in the mensroom at work yesterday and suddenly started wondering if my vape might set off the alarms if i vape in there too long. this was never much concern for me until i moved up from regular eGo batteries to vv twists.
