I killed my itaste VV3 on the very first day--anyone know if it is fixable?bel

Unbelievably, when I went to charge my just-arrived-yesterday itaste VV 3 last night, it slipped out of my hand and fell--into half a glass of water that was on the kitchen counter. Dead as a doornail. Is there any possibility that it can be brought back to life like cell phones that get wet?? Thankfully, I learned the first rule of vaping--backups, backups, backups, so I am not without, but it just kills me that I broke the darned thing the very first day! :oops::oops:

Because it isn't their fault that I broke it?? I don't think they would replace it since I was the screwup.

Gasp! A person with some honesty and integrity?? Am I in an alternate reality? Just kidding. Good for you for not trying to get over on the vendor for your mistake.

Sorry to hear about your VV3. Luckily they are not too expensive. I feel your pain, I just lost my phone to water the other day :(

The difference with a cell phone is the removable battery. If you drop a cell phone in water, you have a chance to save it by immediately removing the battery and drying it all out ASAP. Since you basically just dropped a battery itself into water - chances are slim that it will work again. But you can always try - place the thing in a sealed container of rice and DO NOT try to see if it works for at least 24 hours. If you still get nothing after that - it's most likely dead.

But hey, if you're in a moral dilemma here you could always talk to the manufacture and explain what happened. Who knows, maybe they'll be in high spirits due to the holidays and send you out another. Though to be honest, I don't see that actually happening :(

If you paid for it with a credit card, a lot of card services have a "insurance" feature that will replace the item or refund your money if a newly purchased item conks out due to defect or accident.

I admire your honesty. I would also call the vendor and tell them what happened. They may admire your honesty with a replacement, too.

Off topic, but if you take apart your phone and look on the inside you should see some ribbon wires. All you have to do it take some rubbing alcohol on a Q-Tip and put the rubbing alcohol on the wires (not a lot, just enough to put a film of the alcohol on the wire). Leave your phone open to dry, after its dry reassemble it and it should just boot up like normal.

My dad owns a cell phone repair shop, and people pay him $60-100 to fix water damage, not knowing how easy it really is to fix.

I am trying the rice...will let you all know if it works at all. I ordered a new express kit so I will still have a backup when it arrives. I still cannot believe I killed it. I wonder what the odds are that out of all the places it could have gone when it slid out of my hand that it went into the cup of water that I had just poured so I could take an Aleve. In a way it is kind of funny...

I would take the honesty route. Since you didn't mention the vendor here, it's possible that the vendor would either help you out by totally replacing it (even if it was your fault) or possibly giving you a discount on the same device.

Here's how I handled a situation with Logitech when I had a remote that failed and had just fallen out of warranty. I called them (Gasp - talked to a live human being). Gave them the serial number to the failed remote. We had a conversation how I knew that it was out of warranty, I knew I broke it and stated as such, asked the person on the phone to verify the remote was actually DOA - and it was. Logitech replaced that $150 dollar remote (at the time of purchase) that was just over 1 year old for $20 bucks. To me that's amazing. I walked into Best Buy the next day and saw the same remote had still been selling for $100 dollars. Logitech saved me $80 bucks.

Some vendors here know our struggles, they understand that we are trying to quit analogs. They may sell a new vv to you at cost and shipping.

The worst thing the vendor could say is "No we can't replace it". The best thing is you were honest and had that conversation.

Edit - I noticed that some folks said "try and dry it out" or "put it in (substance here) and see if it dries out". I would NEVER trust a power device that has a sealed battery that I removed all the moisture and would not short out that device and possibly start a fire. To me that is just not worth the risk.
