When I was smoking, I used to go to the nearby Smoke Depot to buy my cigs. Since I was always going to quit tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, which never came about for years, I saw my clerk, Mo, so often that we really got to be quite good friends. I really miss seeing Mo. I even go back in to say hi every once in a while.

Just curious. Anyone else get on friendly terms with their cig salesperson? Anyone else ever go back to their former cig salesperson to say hi and explain why they do not come in the store any more? Anyone every try to talk their salesman into carrying e-cigs and e-liquids? Just curious. :)

All of the folks at the local liquor stores nearby know I've quit smoking, because even though I don't buy cigarettes, I still drink alcohol enough that they don't forget who I am.
:)

I've even let a few of them who smoke try them out.

A couple of the liquor stores now sell electronic cigarettes, whereas they didn't when I started.
But all of them sell those ones that have marketing folks, if you know what I mean.

The only holdout, in fact, is one guy who is waiting to find out how the FDA case comes out.

Sea, if they were that good 'friends' then why are they not looking to find you and have a chat? Sorry to burst the bubble but they were probably just doing their job. I'd be surprised if they went home and even gave you a second thought. I would be even more surprised if they were writing about you on forums :) This post actually sounds a lot more harsh than I meant it to, sorry!

Hi Liberty Flights,
Well actually we did have quite a few laughs and conversations together. We exchanged books to read and such. I taught Mo and his wife how to grow wheatgrass and how to press the juice. He got real ill with IBS, so I coached him how to start on aloe vera to soothe and on going 70 percent raw food for a while to actually heal and regenerate. That worked real well. We weren't real close friends, but we shared a lot of thoughts and laughs. I don't look him up either except when I drive right past his store, depending on what social mood I'm in, LOL. He has a whole circle of friends elsewhere and I have mine, so I don't think I'll see too much of him, but I still miss him.

I had a tobacconist in Chicago who I was friendly with. He used to get me real Cohiba Robusto cigars fresh out of the diplomatic pouch from Cuba.

We used to sit in his office and make deals for Cigars while smoking Cohibas... he's kinda a rough sort of Chicago guy. Was expert at what kind of soft drink went with what cigar.... he was amazing that way.

"NO!! You want a sweet green tea with that Soyo!"

He was a hard guy to like because he was pretty rough. But he was very educational and fun.

Yup. There's a tobacco shop in Minneapolis where you can smoke inside (they even have ashtrays in the bathrooms). And I was on great terms with all the guys there. I used to sit around and smoke and chat with them for hours when I had nowhere else to be.

They even gave me a cigar for my 21st birthday. Great guys.

I haven't been back since I got my e-cig... and to be honest, yes, it's crossed my mind that I kinda wish I could go patron them. Just because they're so freakin' awesome.

Maybe I should suggest they start selling e-cig stuff... I don't know. I'd feel kind of weird about it. Almost like I'm on "the other team" now.

everyday I would walk into my nearby 7-11 and the same guy would be there 5 days out of the week. I walked through the door and he would immediately reach for a pack of camel lights.

Now I buy all of my supplies from a e cig walk in store located in denton texas just north of ft worth and ive become good friends with the owner.

I hope e cig stores pop up more over the country cause I love being able to try out new things before I buy them... including new liquids.

At one point i used to stuff my cigs with tobacco from a tobacco shop. so The other day out of curiosity i stopped by to see the lady that ran the shop who used to help me out, and who i got to know really well . i was a good customer always buying in bulk. any ways i come to find that she also carries e-liquid that vapes great and she is talking on cutting me good deals since she wants to start carrying more but not enough sales. She remembers me always buying in bulk and i told her i would most def buy juice like mad so i do believe in the customer shop keeper relationship . though my family always normally shops at the same stores for years so getting to know the career walmart clerk or grocery bagger of 15 years isn't to uncommon where im from LOL

I don't miss the guys I've been buying from around where I live now, but I do miss the guys who ran the convenience store by my old place. I never had to say what brand, just "give me pack of cigarettes, please." I still stop there anytime I'm in the neighborhood.

That makes you feel good that they remember, doesn't it? I worked my way through college as a bartender, and I always got very good tips for remembering my customers names and their drinks.

So living close to me, you'll have to appreciate this story. When I first moved to San Diego, I lived on Oceanfront Walk in Mission Beach. I rollerbladed down to the corner liquor store every day. The same clerk waited on me day after day. After about 3 months, he still had an attitude problem and asked me what brand. I started blading farther up 3 blocks on Grand Ave. just to buy from another store where I got excellent customer service.

Grew up mostly in PB, now living in Vista.
We are following similar migration paths.

Well here's the kicker. I was born in San Diego, but never lived in San Diego until about 10 years ago. The reason was I was adopted from San Diego to my Aunt who lived in Lakewood, then onto Santa Barbara most of my life before coming back to my birthplace.

I lived everywhere in San Diego and never did like it. Nearly had a nervous breakdown in Point Loma, LOL, with all the planes flying over. One day I took a joyride on the Coaster to Carlsbad. I loved it so much I started making the trip every weekend. That's how I ended up in No. Co. The only thing I miss is the rollerblading and the Sunday brunches all over town.
