Ok, so for the past three months I have been happily vaping away on my little Joye 510 without a care in the world. I researched alot of things at first, but once I got my first e-cig I was content. Now I come on to the forums and see this mod called the "Darwin" and my draw dropped. A little more research and I am definately feeling like mods are the way to go (Mistressnomad's quiz confirmed this lol).

I am mostly interested in good throat hit. I direct drip on a bridgeless atty. Battery life is a plus, but not if I have to sacrifice throat hit. A mod that looks cool is nice, but that is the least of my concern. I am willing to spend up to $150 on a new kit.

Can someone more knowledgable than myself please point me in the right direction?

NotCigs is introducing a new one that should be available on or about December 20th. It's called the Infinity or just "∞".
It's a relatively small adjustable voltage mod with a thumb wheel for adjusting the voltage. You can adjust it to the throat hit you want. The best part is that it's only supposed to be about $100.00 for a full kit with batteries and charger. I have a Buzz (their first variable voltage mod) and it's the best performing mod I have.
There is a pic in this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/notcigs/133854-infinity-coming-soon-notcigs.html showing the infinity next to a Buzz (which isn't that huge) for a size comparison. The pic is on page 56, post 558.

There area a lot of great mods out there and quite a few of them fit within your price range.
One of the biggest problems is that since they are usually handmade by craftsmen, availability is.... well, difficult.

While it is a little bit out of your posted budget, I swear by the GGTS with AVS.
Works at 3.7, 6 or 7.4 volts depending on the batteries you use.
The AVS is a 6ml tank for juice- no carts, cartos or dripping.
VaporKings is the exclusive US seller, if you want to check the GGTS pricing.

But there are lots of other devices out there as well, and even more coming.
Finding one you want shouldn't be too hard.
Finding one you can actually BUY when you want it may be more difficult. ;)

If you are looking for something a little simpler than the new batch of VV mods, and as result of their simplicity something more reliable and longer lasting than a VV, check out supertmanufacturing.com and the line of Precise mods. The are all mechanical, which means no wires, soldering, or electronics to break, and they come with a lifetime warranty. The work flawlessly, look beautiful, and are super tough. they aren't cheap, but for what you get they are certainly not over-priced.

Most of the mods out there fit the bill for you. Now what "looks cool" is really up to you. Battery mods like the GG look sharp, and bottom fed mods like the Phidias and the REOs also look great to me....but that's just me. Some people don't like the "box" shape and prefer the tube look. I happen to prefer the REOs, they work for me....I have two minis. They fit my small hands well and I don't ever vape more than 3 ml per day anyway...The batteries last longer than the juice, but I always put in a fresh battery everytime I change/refill my juice. The REO Grand and Wood REO use larger batteries and hold 6 ml of juice. Good luck on your search!

Have to weigh in with the ProVape1 as well as their new VV model coming soon. Stainless Steel, well made, great button switch. I also like my BB by Altsmoke. Lighter than the Provape in SS, probably similar in aluminum.

I like the proportions of a 14500 battery mod. They are small enough to carry easily and fit my hand well. The Puresmoker Icon also fits in this category although the bottom switch takes some getting used too.

They still don't have locking buttons, and even the high-end models don't have adjustable airflow, bit of a letdown for me, that's why i use GG mods instead. I also like the fact i upgraded my buttons to magnets so there's no spring to wear down either, i also got fuse protection in my GGTS if there's a bad short.

All mechanical is definitely the way to go regardless of features though, i don't want to rely on more than a battery for my vaping, so much more to go wrong.

I agree with this. I have a Buzz and could not imagine ever needing anything else. It is a very durable work horse of a mod.
