I need recommendations on regulated mods

I'm very sad here. I thought I was finally all set with batteries with all 3 Eleaf Isticks but after posting my trouble with the 50W and reading through some of the posts, I realize I need to get something better. I want quality that doesn't cost more than $120 I guess-that's pushing it too. I don't care for mech mods, just personal preferance. I build my own coils and sub ohm all the way down to .2 sometimes (usually .5) but rarely vape over 25W so something over 50 is not even necessary for me, 30 is fine as long as device supports low sub ohm's. Just not sure what to get, hearing Provari is good but not seeing them on the vape shops I browse. I'm just done upgrading, I've found the level I want to be at and am ready to stay there-at least with batteries, I'm still playing around with rba's and rta's lol. So, what suggestions do you all have for me? Thanks!

Provaris don't go anywhere near 0.2 ohms. In your price range, I'd say the IPV4 is a good bet.

Yeah, Provari's have a max of 15W I believe as well. IPV4 looks good, or there is going to be some great stuff coming out soon like the Kanger Subox 50W, Sigelei 75W, and the eVic VT 60W. All will be well under $100 and all have great power. The eVic and Sigelei both have Temp Control as well if that's something that interests you.

My only recommendation, from experience, for regulated mods is,,, whatever you buy, do not drop it.

I have a Sigelei 100+ and love it. with my Sub Tank mini I run it all day at 22-26W. Hve dual VTC4s in it. With my drippers I can build to .2 and have had no issues.

The P3 Provari can fire a 0.5 coil with the firmware upgrade. Mine will fire my Patriot's 0.6 ohm dual coil with ease, but I prefer using my Kayfun Lite Plus at 1.5 ohm.

You'll be hard pressed to find a more dependable and reliable regulated mod than a Provari. I've dropped Provari 2.5 on the parking lot's asphault getting out of my car more times than I care to remember, and it always continued to work without a scratch. A regulated mod built to be as durable as a mech. Excellent customer support. Long track history. Superb craftsmanship.



Having said that, a Provari is not for everyone. If it fits your needs and expectations, they're tough to beat.

Provari, while being great at what it does, is limited to 15w for the classic and I think 20w for the p3 more importantly a new one is not in the budget you provided. My 2 cents is ignore your budget. By that I mean figure out what specs you really want as a minimum then find a quality mod that meets those needs. If need be then save up to afford it. You're looking for a mod that can stay in use for the long haul, don't get inpatient and settle. Someone earlier mentioned the IPv4. It's too soon to say for sure on this mod being so new but I will say the quality seems debatable to me. I do own one, fyi. I only use mine at home so minimal risk for me but from how it feels I suspect this one will not hold up well to abuse at all.

I second the ipv4. I also had the 50watt. And besides the fact that the fire button stuck a couple of times(worst dry hit ever), I felt like I wasn't getting enough head room. My .3 ohm coils just wasn't cutting it, in the vape department. That being said, I love my ipv4. The versatility between my subtank and my rda builds are just about endless. the performance is wonderful. And I haven't even started building nickel coils yet. 100w plus temp control, at that price, should be hard to pass up.

Provari is a waste of money, old tech nothing new or innovative with a huge price tag, the best thing about provari's is they will last and can take a beating, but anything will last if its looked after.

I'd love to recommend the SX Mini M class but it's a little over your price range, some mods soon to be released which look like winners to me are:

HCigar VT40 (DNA40 V5 with resistance lock)
IPV D2
Joyetech eVic-VT
IPV4
Sigelei 75W temp control

All these devices have temp control which i firmly believe will be a feature on most if not all upcoming regulated mods, but of course you can still use kanthal in normal power mode if you prefer. All of these devices will be around or below your price point, are from reputable manufacturer's, have pretty much every feature of $200+ mods (and a hell of a lot more then the Provari P3)

Considering what he started with, if we're talking about a non-replaceable battery device, the MVP3 Pro hands down. That line has a proven track record for being reliable work horses and the new one goes to 60W.

If we're talking about something with replaceable batteries, we have to keep in mind the guy is going to need a charger, 18650s and a mod. So without busting the budget all the reliable offerings are in the 30W range IMHO. To keep costs down maybe a Sigelei 30W box mod or Dovpo E-LVT mini, a couple of good 18650s and a good charger....

....or just bust the budget.

If money wasn't a consideration, I'd be recommending either a Vaporshark rDNA40 or an SX Mini. They both have their pros and cons. The SX Mini has a far superior chip running it that can be upgraded, stellar build quality and great ergonomics, but I don't know what would happen if I ever broke it. Meanwhile Vaporshark has a fine chip too in the DNA40 and some very impressive aftermarket support for their products in terms of upgrade and repair services to keep your device working if anything should ever happen.

I have both, and love them for different reasons, but my rDNA40s, because of Vaporsharks aftermarket support are the ones I use as my workhorses when they might be subject to abuse. The repairs aren't cheap, but certainly cheaper than an outright replacement.

Have fun. Your going to get a thousand different suggestions. When I first read your post, I thought Provari also. They last a lifetime. IMO there's been a rush to market with the current crop of box mods and none have any longevity. I guess we're supposed to toss devices and get all new ones every 3-6 months. They all seem to have faults or a very narrow range of use (no step down or poorly done). Manufacturers aren't very clear about power handling. You almost need 2; one for 30w and up, and another for lower wattages. But quality shouldn't be at the top of the priority list either.

Hard to see how the durability of anything can be recommended if it ain't even been released yet.

I of course do not know and have heard about 50 issues however I have dropped my gear both my twentys and my fifty -all three of them were cheaper than two cartons of smokes I have used them for about three months the fifty a little less because I bought it later. are you having actual problems or fearful that you will have a problem or just want a new toy I am exploring new toys which I suspect would have to be ordered as it is unlikely the B&M stores here will carry the very latest the racing car yellow appeals to my eye and I am intrigued by the provari 3 and the concept of the Reo ( I like my dripper) seems like an all day drip to me - good luck with it all

I use a mech with a RDA (0.6 ohm dual coil).

I also use a Provari topped with a Kayfun (1.5 ohm single coil).

Both provide an excellent and equally gratifying vape. You just have to know how to tweak them to provide what you desire.

You can purchase a Provari for about $80 at Provape in their "Specials" section. It's hard to beat a Kayfun/Provari combo. Why Provari?

Look for DC-DC power as compared to PWM. The Provari is expensive, but the Innokins are similar at lower cost. Mods as a whole are getting better, but look for DC-DC.
