It all began nearly 20 yrs ago, this torrid on-again/off-again affair I've been carrying on with cigarettes. Last year I tried an e-cig for the first time at a mall kiosk. I wanted to buy it, I really did. It was packaged in a pretty box and was just beckoning to my impulsive side. However, it didn't smoke like a real cig and for $150 the savvy shopper in me knew I'd better give it at least 24 hrs.

Well, I gave it roughly a whole year :)

I had quit smoking last summer, with the help of the patch, for about a month and a half. It was a struggle. I drew my curtains so I wouldn't see the lanai where I would sit and smoke. I must've put on 5 lbs attempting to sate the hand-to-mouth habit. Then life pulled a "You're in for it now, honey." trick. You know the kind ... the most unexpected tragedy occurs and of course hits close to home (family) and the stress piles on and before you know it, you're actively ripping open a pack of already ridiculously over-priced ultra light and uber tiny cigarettes (Marlboro UL 72's).

Last month I was out of town visiting a friend and we popped into a head/smoke shop where she lives and they were selling a kit for $75. I took a look at it (Luci) and it did look nice, but when I turned the box over it had a sticker that read $149.99. I was going to buy this item if not for that sticker. I thought to myself, if this is as good as it should be why would they mark it down 50%??

I decided to do some research when I got home. That was delayed until last week when I spent a lot of time researching PVs. I am so down with the verbiage and I have read DonDaBoomVape's series twice and referred to it [already] countless times.

He has me sold on the 801, btw, though I didn't order it with my first purchase. I hope I made good choices. I did do my best to take in to consideration why, where & how I will be using them (yes, them) and what do I *think* will be most important to me (ie: throat hit, vapor, draw/pull, etc).

What I opted for, in the end, are the 901 & the RN4081. I was really leaning toward the 501 BUT it didn't matter which supplier's stash I gawked no one had an attractive PCC for it whereas the RN4081 has a box very akin (though probably a bit larger) to the old Calibri case I used to have for cigarettes-on-the-go-in-style. If you haven't already guessed it, the 4081 is going to be my on-the-go/in-my-purse PV.

I also ordered a VSVapor sampler pack. I hope it's at least alright. I suppose it's a good thing I don't have anything to compare it to, yet.

I'll try to remember to respond with feedback on my purchases. I purchased from US suppliers *scratch [back]* so hopefully it won't take too long for my items to get here.

Wish me some juicy vapin' :)

& .... ditto! ^

A special thanks to DonDaBoomVape (boy that's an f'ing mouthful). I can't imagine how long it took to write that series of information that daunted me each time I loaded a page in my browser and watched the scrollbar get smaller and smaller as the page continued to load more data. However, it is well written, informative, fun, witty, quirky and most of all EXTREMELY helpful. I think I'd still be googling right now if not for this man's contribution.

(edit: I tried to post a link to Don's threads but apparently I don't have enough posts to add URLs. It can be found in the ECF Library.)

If you are actively educating yourself about e-cigs/PVs you definitely want to refer to this series of posts.

And yes, I am posting this because I need 5 (4, now) posts to post anywhere else.

Please ask me questions so I can respond to them.

Please?

PLEASE???

Aloha :p

Hooray for you! Welcome to the ECF. The thing that helped me the most in my transition to vaping was to NOT think of it as quitting, but instead as a way to try out a new, less harmful way to continue my nicotine habit.

This helped in a couple of ways: #1. I wasn't expecting it to taste or act like a cigarette - it won't. #2. I didn't put the pressure on myself to "quit" so it all was very stress-free.

It's o.k. if you still smoke a couple of cigarettes while you're switching to vaping, just celebrate any amount that you don't smoke. Usually, the cigarettes will end up tasting nasty to you and you'll just wake up one day and not want one (assuming the PV and nicotine level is working for you) so you should just give it time.

For me, it worked on day 2. For you it might work the same way, or it might take longer - the key is "no pressure". After all, the thing that always made me go back to smoking before was just the simple stress of not being able to smoke.

Good Luck!

Thank you david & Rosa. The more I think about it the more excited I am. I still have a few packs of cigarettes just in case I need one here or there during the transition.

Is there any way to light a fire under the suppliers/postal system's ... and get my wares here sooner?

I ordered 2 kits, liquid and some accessories from 4 total sites:

AquaVapor
MidwestVapor
VaporKings
VaporStation

haha I did in fact order the sampler from VS and indeed selected Cafe Sumatra. Thank you, I wasn't sure about it.

I'm considering ordering a double or two, to start, from Tasty Vapors. Any suggestions on flavors?

I prefer exotic and/or tart fruits (oh boy, I typo'd "farts" after the "tart"...just thought I'd share :)). Okay moving on I also like the baked goods, just not cookies or cakes. A combination of those would be great! Anyone here tried a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie juice and know where I can find one?

Um..
Um ...
I think I'm .. um .. getting .. hungry ..

The hands down favorite from T.V. is probably the Atomic Cinnacide. If you like cinnamon, you'll LOVE it! It's just like vaping Big Red gum...before the flavor runs out of it!

The Banana Fosters is also VERY good and I don't even like banana 'flavored' ANYTHING. Tastes exactly like Banana Bread IMHO.

When you order your liquids, I would suggest sticking to a higher nicotine content to start if you're looking to quit smoking analogs..less cravings. You can always dilute them with PG or VG if you want to reduce them later. Stick with at least 24mg.

Good luck and welcome to the Forum!!

Does the ability to edit our own posts become available after reaching the min. post count?

domino38 thank you for the TV tips. I don't know if I will like that much cinnamon, though I don't mind a stick of big red once in a while. Maybe I'll get my cinnamon juice on a smaller scale :)

I was actually considering the doublers with low or no nic for the evenings when I'm relaxing and that's when I tend to smoke the most, too. From what I'm reading, maybe I don't want high levels of nic for evening vapes. I'm already have Vampire Syndrome

Yes you will be able to edit soon :)
Doublers (which are sold by MOST juice suppliers now, just not all called doublers) make a good move for later evening vaping though you may find you want to lower step by step in the evenings, just to stop you hitting the high nic craving vape right before bed because your body 'needs 'one.

Btw - one of the nice tart fruits (boy howdy thats a tough one not to typo on purpose) Ive had is Jimmy Puffit from cignot's BASIC range - like a key lime flavor and theres also a 'we cant identify it exactly but its a bit like melon' called Forbidden. Both are all VG and also comes in 0 nic. reviews are around the forums if youre interested :)

UPDATE:

Yesterday I received the final installment of all the orders I placed on Saturday.

The breakdown:
VaporStation: Stasis 901 + sampler pack
AquaVapor: Classic starter kit RN4081
MidwestVapor & VaporKings: some accessories/parts

Shipping was great with each vendor. MWV & VK shipped out on Mon. and VS & AV shipped out Tuesday. Everything arrived Wed. & Thurs.

Until last night, I was planning on going out of town this weekend so it was of some importance to hopefully have my kit/s by the weekend. Alas, that has been postponed, but moving on ...

"The Stasis" 901...

You know I really thought I was going to like the 901 better. Initially I wanted a pen style but thought it might be wise to start out with something less. I expected it to have a smoother pull, more vapor and flavor. As it stands, I'm not even sure my manual battery is ok to use because I screwed it on, pushed the button a couple of times for just a moment and a pause to prime them, though I read for manual batts that's not necessary. The thing is, I think [maybe?] that the battery didn't turn off. Immediately following the priming I took two pulls but the battery continued to get so hot in my hand that it freaked me out and I immediately unscrewed it. This all happened very quickly; maybe a minute. I let the atomizer cool and then engaged the auto batt and it seemed to work okay. From what I had read, I was somewhat prepared for something like this to happen somewhere along the way but with an auto batt, not a manual. I'm a little confused. Did I do something wrong?

Maybe I didn't add enough juice? Unsure of which battery I wanted to use, I opted to only put a few drops in an effort to avoid drowning my battery the first day I got it. Looks dry! But I also wasn't able to get anything down in there far enough to drip a drop or two directly on the atty (as I've read to do).

When I do hit it with the auto batt the casing still gets extremely warm (hot, even) just after a few puffs with pauses in between. Is this normal with this model?

Just so you know I don't smoke cigarettes one right after the other, nor do I take big drags or even drag back to back. I've been vaping in much the same manner.

I really like the look & feel of holding the 901. Hopefully, with your help and some more finger trippin' I can figure out how to make this device successful for me.

FYI: Customer Service is prompt & friendly. I had a question and called twice in about a two hour time period but there was no answer. I going to call again later on, but within a few moments I received a callback (gotta love CID) and my question was answered. Another batt/charging question was all it was.

"The Classic" RN4081...

This one I wasn't so sure about. Honestly, I was hoping it would hit just enough and the batteries would last long enough that I could use this unit/device when I'm out and about. Based on the many reviews that I read, I was not (still am not) necessarily counting on this one to last me. So far though, I prefer it to the 901. It's a sexy little cig. I ordered mine in black. The batteries were practically fully charged when I received the kit yesterday. Though, the LED indicator did not behave as I expected after reading the operating instructions so I called in, just to be sure, and whaddya know .. the batteries were almost fully charged. I didn't have to wait 8 hrs!

Good one-on-one service, so far. I wish that AquaVapor had included at least a couple of business cards because I'm fairly certain that when I'm vaping on this in the company of friends and even strangers they're going to ask where in the world I purchased this alluring faux cig.

I'm going to do some research to see how I can improve performance with my devices. For now though, the 4081 has somewhat exceeded my expectations while the 901 is disappointing. All in all, I'm glad I ordered both sets because I have something to compare them to.

I ordered some little things from the other two suppliers and both were very timely with shipping.

VS Juice...

I haven't had time to sample them all. I like the ones I've tried: Cafe Sumatra, Honey & Peach. I only dripped a couple of drops after vaping on the carts a bit just to sample the flavors. I tried the honey first, then the CS and used the peach on a different cart.

My [4081] kit from AquaVapor came with RY4 which I tried with my 901 (yeah, I'm all sorts of azz-backwards). I don't know what I tasted though. Again it got really hot and by the second or third puff the vapor was hot & harsh.

About the nic...

I ordered low nic cartridges for the 4081. The 901 came with empty carts. My VS sampler pack is all 10mg and the lg bottle of Just Peachy is at 5mg. The RY4 is 0mg. I don't smoke constant. I'm one of those people who smokes maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of her actual cigarette. Taking all of this into consideration ...

Would someone with some experience here please help me figure out which nic levels are right for me? I was up until 5 this morning, wide-eyed and had to force myself to go to bed :/

Too much fun with new toy? Nah that novelty had worn off hours and hours ago. Why was I not tired at all??

edit: P.S. The 901 is beautiful. Not sure that I mentioned that. Mine is Stainless Steel with blacklight LED (it's purple). Very attractive and would even take it out with me once I order a case from VapeBoxz.
