Yes it's a cool mod, he should be proud and show it off, but I also see that saying "I raised the bar, Rob." Is kind of in bad taste. Now if they know each other and it's one bud giving the other a zinger that's different.

wish i could mod one of my Reos although not in steam punk style. i have been practicing trompe-l'œil painting because that just fools the eye so it is kinder for hurting hands to hold.
Just a suggestion but someday consider doing a Reo for us to drool over

Christian, I hear you man and would have formed the same opinion if it wasn't someone like Doug. He's good peeps man. He knows that us REOnauts would appreciate the effort and craft that went into it.
I will always run only REOs but I have to admit that that is a pretty slick mod made by friend of REOvil.

I don't see anything wrong with him posting it, I mean we are all like a big family here. Making your own mod is something we would all be proud of doing and want to show off. If he was commercializing it then that'd be another different story but it's for personal use.
The only thing is the title is misleading as it looks like he's saying he made something that surpassed the quality of the REO so it can be misinterpreted. I must say though, you did raise the bar regarding home made mods as that looks epic.

Dougie is a great guy and I took his thread title in jest and believe Rob did too considering he liked it himself. Just a proud mod maker showing of his steampunk homage to the best device out there Thanks for sharing with us Dougie !

i suspect that what is missing here is some sense of a Reo developing - from a wooden box mod, nice as they are, to a metal one in a few guises to a rebuild kit for metal ones that encompasses subΩ users easily - to vv and so on.i just put all of them out on my desk - you can see a progression. If you think one box mod changes anything - other than pleasing its maker and us vicariously (wish i could make that), then i have no idea what thread you read and there was certainly nothing like this nonsense over a few others making DNA20 regulated Reos.

The title was not intended to belittle or offend Rob, this community or the bottomfeeder that all others aspire to be. I worded it like I did in jest. I have nothing but respect for Rob and his endevours. I even offered to collaborate with him on development of a VW Reo, so for anyone to think that my post in Reoville was without anything but respect for this forum is assinine. I only assumed y'all would appreciate my handywork. I'm happy most of the people here have accepted it as such. 
Very impressive work! One of the things that has struck me over the last several years here is that it is evident that innovation is still alive and well.
Love it, Dougie! I love mod themes...especially sci/fi mod themes. And you didn't go overboard on the gears...so that's a thumbs up.
I guess my sarcasm meter was broken. It just came off like somebody coming into my restaurant and telling me how to cook a steak.
If Russ is down, I'm down. I'm on other forums where that sort of behavior is frowned upon. Guess I was wrong here.
Having gone to the Vape Meet and meeting up with Dougiestyle, I can tell you that is one really neat mod. The bar that was raised was one of having a display added to the bottom feeder. Is it really an insult to Rob or the Reo? Not at all. No one except Rob can claim the usability of the bottom feeder that is the Reo! Dougie did a wonderful job on this mod and it is wonderful to hold and look at. This is yet another example of taking a concept and applying some Yankee Ingenuity and adding value to a wonderful style of device.
Hmmm, how about a leather wrapped Reo. Cowboy theme. Wonder if anyone has done that yet.
