So i ordered some Sony VTC4 and VTC5s. I usually use AW IMR 18650s and the charger i have been (Tenergy TN270) using for almost a year now has never let me down. I have seen on some sites that you need to use specific battery chargers with these new 30amp batteries.

Questions are..

Will my current/older charger still work and efficiently charge the 30amp Sonys?

If i need to upgrade, Which charger(s) are recommended for the Sonys? I will also be charging 18650/18490 AW IMRs also.

Thanks

My old charger that has never let me down!

I used to use the Tenergy that I got with my Provari for MNKE's and Sony 30a batteries, but I'm getting much better and accurate results with the xtar VP1. It has a LCD display which lets you know things like current volts, battery charge status and lets you charge at 3 different rates from .5-1.0a.

I for one would get a good regulated charge like the Xtar or Nitecore. For $30-40 it's worth it.
