should the wick be able to touch the atty coils? should the wick stick out of the top of the spike?

Spy,

Looking from a horizontal position, the top of the wick should sit halfway between the lower and upper edges of the slanted spike. If you need to adjust it, be vary careful and push/pull gently as they come out fairly easily.

If that does not work, you could remove the atomiser spike plate. Turn that plate upside down, pinch the lower edge of the wick between your finger and thumb, so as to give it a "straight" edge (now would be a good time to drip your chosen juice onto the wick) then refit, checking that the straight lower edge of the wick you just made is in perfect alignment with the coil & coil wick.

I hope you get it working for you just the way you like :)

In answer to your question above, the wicks SHOULD touch the coils. Wicks are made of a silica based material that is fireproof. You can actually remove the wick, hold it in tweezers, and burn off the dried on juice with a cigarette lighter and not hurt the wick. It will turn white after you do that and can be washed in water again and dried before reinstalling.

Be careful not to let it unravel. It's hard to get the fibers back together once you do.

Here's a video about cleaning an eGo tank atty. It's based on the type A and B tanks, but applicable.
