Preface: I have 2 years of ee course under my belt, I fully understand ohm's law. I am in my early 30's and have a hot chick, I have zero interest in being stupid and running a .21 quad coil setup on a 5A trustifre battery and ending up with a mangled hand or scared face. Trust me, I know about battery safety.

I am looking to get my first mech. A local shop has a very slick looking matte Nemesis in stock. I think I am going to buy it. I like to be an educated consumer and make sure I am getting the most bang for my buck and that I am not buying garbage. I have checked out the Nemisis it seems like a good piece of kit. However, before I pull the trigger, is there anything else out there that I should be looking at in the $200 under range. I have tried to do my own research , but the number of mods out there is staggering. I am open to just about anything, my only real preference is that it not be telescopic.

Thanks for the help.

That's the best part about being in your early 30's, all the phat stacks, that's what you kids call money right? Down side, I have hair growing out of my ears now.

For the record I fully intend to run .21 quad coils on occasion, I'll just be using those Sony batteries.

The Nemmy is a great choice and is one of the best performing mech mods out there. Very low voltage drop throughout but you can actually improve it too. I replaced the spring with magnet upgrade and also got the one piece anodized 18650 tube. Good choice on battery too.

Like many others, I too hold an HCigar Nemesis (Clone), not because I'm cheap, but because I can't see spending $200 on something that is put in dangers way daily (I work with firearms pretty much every day - lots of potential for damage there).

Clones aside, I have held and vaped on a real nemesis and they work as expected. It's a nice, sleek mod with a good feel. If you have the chance to get a matte version, that's even better because you won't have to deal with the fingerprints and slippery feel of polished SS as much, if at all. IMO, it's $200 well spent if you can swing it.

As for the downsides to the mod, there's not many really. As above, the locking ring is thin metal, but unless you apply a good amount of pressure with it on or take it off and crush it, you really don't have much to worry about. Mine didn't even come off to lube the mod up and I don't really see any reason why you'd remove it at all.

The button needs a little work on some, while others are perfect (applies to clones and the real deal). Some are a little crunchier than others, but a little lube or sanding (your choice) and it works perfect. You can also swap to magnets over springs which makes the throw smoother.

Those two things aside, the only PITA about the nemesis is the little, tiny metal bar that's inside the button below the adjustable bottom pin. Good luck finding it if you drop it because it's small and there is potential for it to "spring" out if you just take the button pin off and don't hold the rest of it in place.

Overall, it's a solid piece and it just works like a mech should. VapeRev has replacement parts (magnets, the pins, the small pin, tubes etc).

Make sure Nemy switch isn't scratchy/binding when edge press.
Be aware that locking ring is thin.

U.K.
personal experience, had a cheap KTS and ego type for couple of months, hated both of them with passion, constant issues that I had to fix, gf saw me eyeing high end mods and asked if I want one as xmas present, and I did =P. Anyhow, after extensive research on ECF and reviews I went for a Nemesis, even though I initially wanted to get SS Just GG. I can honestly say I love it, it hasn't given me any grief and has functioned as it should ever since I got it, pure joy! I coupled it with KFL+ (which I constantly advise to everyone) and cape it at 1,6-2,0 Ohms (until I try 1 ohm micros with cotton) and it's simply awesome.

One problem I did encounter with my setup, KFL's contact is split (for the flat screwdriver) and the one time I was being a ...., instead of screwing on the kfl and then adjusting the post I screwed on the kfl on an un-agjusted post and scraped off the silver plating. So yeah, it's not so much a problem with Nemmy and KFL but rather my fault, not a big deal though, I've been wanting to get the extended post to fit the kick ring anyway.

my setup right now:

After a lot of umming and arring I went for a Nemi clone too. Plenty of other great mods, but the features that won it for me as my first mech:
- Adjustable for all battery types, centre pin adjust, can take a kick, size in 18350 mode, locking switch, good looks with a lot of atomisers, flexibility thanks to the air hole adjust and that you can get a nice gapless fit to you ati too.

Looking at Sdsarmad picture above, that is exactly what I expect mine to look like too when it arrives ;)

GP one was another close second but I couldn't find anything in stock in the UK
