After my Stingray (which I had for 1 week) broke on me, I decided to order some other mods to use instead. So my GP Paps clone and 4Nine clone came in the mail today. Either I'm very, VERY stupid, or something about these mods isn't right. Can you guys help me?

4Nine: it fires but if I happen to accidentally hold the mod sideways or upside-down, the magnet just sticks to the battery and it keeps firing? Is this really how this mech is supposed to work? It just doesn't seem right, and accidental button fires are just waiting to happen. Also, the airflow seems diminished.

GP Paps: button works fine, but my Kayfun Lite (authentic) won't screw in to the 510 connection. It just stops like the Kayfun's 510 is too wide to screw into the threads. Am I just stupid?

Also Mods, feel free to move this thread wherever it fits best.

Maybe you need to try one of these, http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...25-introducing-precise-workhorse-super-t.html

Well made and won't break the bank. I haven't ordered one yet, I think they are out of stock now, but I do know the excellent reputation of the company, and I will be ordering an 18500 when they re-stock.

I saw that and had my eye on it. I'm just nervous to spend that much money on a mech without being able to test it out and make sure everything fits/works and that I like it. The mechs that I've purchased have all had tons of great reviews (even the clones) but none of them have really worked for me.

Try a different atomizer.
Either the go clone or the Kayfun clone has a thread issue.
It will work, just try another atty.

Sometimes either the atty or the mod 510 threads will be a wee bit off.
I've had mods that just won't accept certain attys.
This is an issue with certain $20 clones. Not all are bad, but it happens when thousands are made at a time.

It happens.

The alternative is $450 worth of legit gear.
It can still happen, but they will fix it for ya ;)

I don't want to come across as mean or rude, but the 4Nine is definitely not a good beginner's mod. I would stop using that mod until you become more familiar with mech mods and battery safety. The reason is that direct battery connect. You were lucky to discover that the magnets were flipped before it had a continuos fire and battery vent. Also, with that mod, if you use the wrong atomizer on it, and the 510 isn't long enough, you may cause yourself a hard short, also chances of hurting yourself and ruining your equipment.

Ok, well I'm only half stupid.

The magnet in the 4Nine was facing the wrong direction :facepalm::facepalm:. Works perfectly now! Still no luck with the Paps though.

Was going to reply with that when I read OP but then saw you figured it out on your own. :)

My 4nine was my second mod I owned, and I agree with this. Unless one knows all the safety knowledge of this simple device, it can be a bad can of worms waiting to open up. Admittedly I should not have bought it so soon. Though I learned it fast.

Due to the issues listed in posts in this thread I actually got sick of mine pretty fast, and threw it out the window while driving down the road enjoying my next mod. (ok, i didn't really throw it out the window). (and I really just found something a little friendlier that would accept all my attys equally; and not be so finicky)

I have a 1:1 4nine clone. I'm using a KFL+ and Sony vtc5s. With this setup, you can ONLY use flat top batts, like the vtc5 or 4. Otherwise, you need a spacer between the Atty and the mod. It is my first mech, and as long as you look at it and get to understand it... Ahem.... Like how the switch works, lol, you'll be OK. Just know that certain atties won't work correctly depending on their 510 connection length and + pin length. The KFL+ has a + pin that protrudes ever so slightly from the 510 threading (read: negative/ground connection) and therefore precludes a short at this point. Shorts in other places, however, can happen as with any mech. Also, the lack of top vents with the Atty in place (it covers the holes in the top cap) is suspect on this design. I had to file slots in the switch plate to allow for bottom venting on my clone, but I understand they already exist on the original. I agree partially with Blackboar, in that, you actually need to understand the mod before you use it. You should also study battery safety - find Baditude, he's a wealth of info - BEFORE you start using your mech. That being said, the 4nine is a great mod, and once I can afford an authentic, I'll be picking one up. It CAN be a beginners mod, as long as they put in the time to learn the basics first.
