I have been vaping for almost 3 years now and have enjoyed my life without cigarettes, but I realize now that maybe I was trading one thing for another.

i really noticed it since I switched to sub ohm, but all these bakery flavours and creams that we like are most likely filled with more things that are bad for us then we know.

Diacetal and its replacements are in more then people know, and even though they all say it's food grade some of its meant to be consumed not inhaled

it started with sucide bunny last year, and no matter how pure people promise their flavours they are unlikely to know everything they have in their flavourings.

Im down to 3mg nic, but feel likecertain flavours burn my throat and body other ways. It's a change and different, but now I'm not really sure how much safer it is. It might actually be worse.

In in then end I'll enjoy the flavours for as much or as little as I can before I go, but what it thought was 90 percent better has gone down to 60 now.

I doubt you have popcorn lung (bronchiolitis obliterans). Symptoms of it are dry cough, wheezing, shortness of breath. It's caused by fibrous tissue narrowing the passages in the lungs.

Your burning sensation is probably caused by something else. vaping to hot or irritation of some sort.

Perhaps it is time to adjust to finding flavors and temperatures that don't cause you discomfort. I'm pretty sure after three years of vaping you can figure that out.

Lately, I've been using my unflavored DIY juice most of the time. It just feels healthier to me. I started to feel yucky when I'd been chain vaping too much sweet stuff all day. It's gotten to the point where I'll dilute those juices by 75% with unflavored juice when I do go back to them for a treat. Just a hint of sweetness is all I like.

I think lung hitting also has a different effect when compared to mouth to lung,
Probably also depends on the persons lungs, sensitivity, amounts inhaled, juice type etc.

But just last week, I was lung hitting mostly, with my Orchid, something I only ever do once in a blue moon,
I noticed I was waking up with that smokers cough again, all be it a lighter version, but still...so I stopped and the cough did also.

Just throwing that out there... could also be a total coincidence, weather, allergies, etc.

Why wouldn't you just quit then, if you truly believe that it might be harmful?

As for me, I couldn't possibly feel healthier. I've already noticed the positive effects after a month of vaping and being off of tobacco. I don't need any doctors or scientists or research papers to tell me that vaping is far better than smoking.

If I started to notice any side effects from vaping that I didn't like, then I would just quit. You're down to 3 mg you said, so it shouldn't be that hard to go to zero from there.

I don't DIY, but have been using unflavored for something like a year, though not for health reasons, primarily. If we think back to the days of smoking one brand exclusively, most of us could no more describe the flavor of the cigarettes than I can describe the flavor of the unflavored.

Oh, the only flavor I really enjoyed was Aroma's Black Clove in the WTA. It was fairly expensive for me.

Diacetal is delicious. I dont worry about harm from vaping as I do know its so much more safer than smoking cigs. I did not start vaping because of health reasons, I did it cause cigs stink, and cost too much money. I spend about the cost of 1 carton of smokes for DIY juice supplies for a month. Its cheaper, its a hobby, is fun and lastly its heathier. I dont get caught up in the stupid .... that goes on about this juice or that 150w mod running too hot blah blah blah. I enjoy vaping and thats all I really care about.

I loved the Mother's Milk, Queenside, Gambit and the like myself..I went all VG and started making my own mixing together Vista Vapors flavors and we're all good..for me it was the PG that's in the "premium" juices out there..so I just did rif's on them.

No froggy throat and certainly no popcorn lung and it's all diacetal free.I use their sweet cream flavor in about three or four of my mixes (after the Mother's Milk, I did the same with Raspberry and Blackberry with the Sweet Cream and they're banging). I've checked with them they were more than glad to send me an ingredients list and I assure you they KNOW exactly what's in everything they make, I've gotten the list from them, mom's an algebra/chemistry teacher, sis a chemical engineer, I'm a nurse we had chemistry for breakfast conversation when I was a kid *lol* so I'm pretty sure I know about what I'm reading) Nice try at the paranoia though.

yes we don't know the long term effects, but I assure it's way better than what three years of smoking cigarettes would've done to your lungs.

That pretty much sums it up for me.

The 27th of this month will be two years for me totally quitting smoking, and I haven't felt better in many many years. I vape mostly unflavored these days because I'm a cheapskate and don't want to spend a bunch of money trying flavors I might not like... NOT because I'm scared of what might be in it.

I consider myself a Grain of Salt type of person. Many things in life are labeled Dangerous or deadly that just do not seem to effect me.

I do not recommend any particular type of E-liquid to anyone and leave that to them. I prefer to DIY all of my e-liquids. I very much enjoy custards, Cappuccino and dessert flavors. I understand the Possible Risk and choose my flavorings accordingly. I try to avoid direct Diacetyl but accept there may be some conversion.

Reading/Studying:
Diacetyl Damage in Factory workers lungs - High Exposure to the Main chemical(diacetyl) for many Hours per day/week for many years.
Diacetyl in consumers - High Exposure to MICROWAVED High Diacetyl Flavoring over an Extended period of years.

*kind of reminds me of testing Cosmetics on Rats - Soak them it it and see what happens.

Diacetyl, dyketones, acetoin... these things bugged me too, but I LOVE creamy dessert flavors, so I have done tons of research on them and have decided that the risk is somewhere between slim and none.

Cigarette smoke actually contains more diacetyl than e-liquid vapor, yet smokers aren't dying of popcorn lung.

There's something else going on -- I suspect it takes a combination of several factors for someone to get popcorn lung, which is why it is an incredibly rare disease despite all the attention it's now getting.

But please don't take my word for it. I'm not a doctor or a scientist -- read up on it and make the decision you feel most comfortable with.

meh....I just buy juice from companies that have their juices tested by independent, 3rd party labs, kinda like the company in this link does..

They're one of the early adopters following the ECTA standards. They've issued recalls for juices that failed lab tests, stated their intended fix, offered 2:1 replacements to offset the inconvenience. Even the B&M I deal with does the same with its house line of juices.

Honestly, if a company hasn't stepped up to the plate by now, they're probably just not going to and aren't worth my time.
