After reading through a lot of information of the forum, I think I have made a decision as to what two e-cigs to purchase for myself and for my girlfriend. A Dura and an Ego.

Unless you guys can talk me out of it I think a Dura would be about perfect for my girlfriend and the Ego would be a good match for myself. She is more concerned with the appearance of the unit, and I am more conccerned with the performance, thus the Dura for her and the Ego for me.

If you guys agree that these would be a good duo of e-cigs, could you then please assist me in picking out the right models of each unit? There seems to be an almost infinite array of battery sizes and various generations and such of both the Dura and the Ego, jsut want to get the right/best unit from the go.

Also very interested in the passthrough technology that allows smoking right from the computer. I think these are available for the Dura's, but are they available for the Ego's?

Anyway, please shed some light on suggested specific models for these two units, and maybe reliable vendors with competetive pricing.

Thank you:)

Hi ChrisD. I am by no means as expert (they will show up soon). So, you might want to ask your gf what is more important, looks or results. Many people that start out with the smaller battery units find out quickly that it was not satisfying. (then tend to jump back to analogues) So if it is all about looking like a cigarette, then a 510 (like Janty's) is a good start. If she is a light smoker this may be good enough. The batteries don't last long so need to be charged much more frequently. (Made the mistake of stocking up on 510's before I realized I wanted a battery that held its charge longer than 2 hours) The Ego's are good. Bigger battery = longer vape time so less down time. Depends on what you are comfortable holding. ( I am a tiny woman and my battery is about as big as I am and I LOVE it. ) Yes, passthoughs are available for the Egos. Don't forget to get a number of different flavor juices also. If you have smoke for any length of time and stop, your tastes will change so grab a few you don't think you will like also, you may be surprised. :) Always remember to have back-up batteries, atomizers and juice so you don't risk running out. There are a number of great suppliers on this site so look at the Supplier area of this site also.

The least expensive eGo ($40) and eGo passthrough ($20) can be had here when you click the 20% off banner at the top of the screen:
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

You can get the 510 kit at Cignot (no box kit) for $35: Joye 510 NO BOX

Or here, but I don't know much about their version of the 510, but they do have the 510 passthrough for $15:
Passthroughs

Suggestions:

• pick up a box or two of 510 cartomizers to try.
• also get a couple of drip tips, you might like them too.
• try to get used to shopping from a couple of vendors per spree, it seems like you can never find just one vendor who has everything you need, you get used to it.

(ps: dura = 510)

Dura is 510 right? I actually recommend the longer batteries - Mega xl 280mah ones - for 3-5 hours battery life instead of 2-3. The longer batteries make the 510 about 138mm with atty and cart, about 128mm with carto (the way I use it). And BTW Vaporkings.com has a PCC with an adapter so it can charge a mega xl 510 battery or the shorter standard battery. If your gf is real picky about it being the length of a cig, use the standard batteries with cartos. I like the standard Boge soft-cap cartos.

And I recommend manual batteries, not auto. Manual 510 batteries are totally sealed on the threaded end so safe from death-by-juice-leak and safe to do dripping method, safe from carto leaks etc. Manuals won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration. And I think they are less work - you just press in the button shortly before you start your drag and let it up shortly before you end your drag. You get used to it in less than an hour.

And I recommend precut 510 blue foam cart stuffing from strictlyejuice.com - when the white cartridge stuffing gets old and cranky, replace with blue foam and those precut pieces are the easiest and cheapest by far.

BTW Janty is probably not the cheapest place to get a 510. I recommend real Joye 510 - check Cignot.com (of course unless her heart is set on the Janty - get her what she wants as long as it's a 510)

With the Ego, you will want the Ego charger (faster and not safe for 510 batteries). ANd Ego can use harder-hitting low resistance (LR) parts but don't use those on 510 (can fry the battery electronics). Keep your LR stuff separate.

510s have very short battery life. You should look at 808s for your girl. They come in alot of pretty colors they have longer lasting batteries and they use cartomizers.Have her look at Vapor4life,they have kits that include the passthru and charging cases. They also have alot of sampler packs of cartos so you can try many different flavors for less.

510's do have a very short battery life, be prepared to sacrifice one of your eGo batteries to her. It might work out, at least you can swap out parts with each other. Speaking of which AND THIS IS CRUCIAL: You MUST NOT attempt to charge the little battery on the charger that goes with the big battery. Battery go pop. No mix up chargers!!
