I've been trying to convert my hacking, wheezing, 60-years-smoking great aunt for years. But when my folks recently gifted me a Reo Grand, I told Aunt Rose it was hers if she'd use it; and, I can't believe my eyes, but she's vaping! This is the first person I've converted and the last person I ever thought I could! Thank you all on this forum and Rob for his ingenious creation! Now that I've got to get a new one for myself, is it the absolute consensus that, if one can afford it, the vv Grand it the only one to buy??

I'm so happy for you and especially your great aunt. Everyone has/had a reason to quit and I bet in your case its the love for each other that done it. I have no experience w/ a kicked RG so I'll let does who have one chime in, they will know the ins and outs of one. Tell your great aunt I said to nut quit vaping and aloha.

I prefer the non vv REO's because there are no electronics that could possibly fail. The mechanical ones produce all the vape most will ever need?

In my case, I prefer the utmost reliability over being able to change voltage, especially since you can change carto / atty resistance to produce similar resultys to varying voltage.

I think that one great thing about the vv is that the battery voltage stays consistent rather than decline as you vape? But then again, the 18490 lasts all day then some on a Mini 2.0 for me.

Decisions decisions.... Good luck and great job converting your great (now even greater) aunt!

Congratulations! What a great way to loose a Reo! More time with your great ant for the price of a Reo, I think you definitely traded up.

Since I spend my time in a harsher environment, I wouldn't want to risk damaging the electronics found in a VV. Otherwise, I would jump all over a VV Grand. Also you might consider getting a rebuidable atomizer with it.

beckyblue, I used the REO Grand for a long, long time and was convinced that I didn't need variable voltage to be happy. BUT....now that I have a VV Grand, I use it most of all. I love it. If you got a regular Grand and kicked it, it'd probably end up costing as much as the VV Grand. It really is a decision you have to make.....but personally, I don't think I could do without my VV Grand now that I have it. If (when???!!!) I get another REO, I think it'll be another VV. If you want a vape to die for, get a rebuildable atty to go with your REO. Talk about a perfect vape. I'll never go back to regular attys/cartos ever again after using these rebuildables.

I most certainly second that , Jan!I started with mini's and grands, tried to talk Rob into selling me a vv grand without the vv part:facepalm:. I am a slow learner, but now I'm totally happy with my vv's...yes i now own three of them!
And then I graduated to the rebuildables and the combo of a vv grand and rebuildables is perfection.Just my own opinion..

And it's great that your aunt is now vaping due to your influence...I'm sure it makes you feel really good. I smoked for app. 50 years and the very first time I vaped i never looked back.
Does she have a pc? If she does send her here if she ever has any questions...the people here are very generous with help and advise.

This really is an especially terrific section of an, overall, fantastic forum! I love that the little old lady you're all imagining, hearing about Aunt Rose, is about a mile away from the 4 feet 10 inches chock-full of piss and vinegar little 85-year-old broad that is my great aunt! But she's still just as sharp as a tack. She's teased me mercilessly (through her laughing and hacking) since I started vaping and has really worked hard to drew me back to the dark side!! Even with constant bouts of bronchitis she had no interest in any other pv. That's why it's such a testimony to the Reo Grand. She just plain liked it BETTER than her nasty Merits. Now she's tasked me with finding her a Werther's original vape, as well as one that tastes like Merits. My mom, however, is as sweet as my aunt is spicy; and she's just overwhelmed with joy that her aunt and daughter have made the switch. I doubt I'll be able to get her on this forum, as she still enjoys believing that the internet and internet forums are really for weirdos and social miscreants. But now I see that anything is possible. Sorry for such a digression! Back to decisions, decisions. You've voiced both sides of the debate in my head. I'd go for the vv, but I'm not as sure about its fool-proof sturdiness as I'd be with the Grand. Hyplainsdrifter, if you only knew my experience with electronics that could possibly fail. For me, they fail. I searched out a used car with roll-down windows...But you all would know if people ever regret getting the VV over the Grand, if it's markedly more finicky, or anything. I do like the vv experience with my Vamo, but this clutz could use a bit more input. Thank you all, so much!

Hi Beckyblue,

I use a kicked Grand and love it but if I had a choice I would go for the VVGrand. It was designed and built from the ground up for the electronics it uses. It's very easy to change the voltage as compared to a kicked Grand. The price,of kicking a Grand and buying a VVGrand are very close so as not to be an issue. I also feel that the electronics of the VVG are more reliable than the Kicks electronics. Between the Buzzpro and the VVGrand both have shown and proven to be very reliable, stable units. They use the same basic electronics.

If you decide on a Grand, you'll be getting a great, reliable mechanical mod.

Big hugs for getting your aunt vaping. Tell your aunt i am an Internet weirdo and I want her ss number.

I have two minis and a VV Grand. I got the minis first one at a time. Love them to death. I also love my VV. For me, I have found I still use my minis as my out and about choice. I have small hands and they fit so well. They are lighter than the VV and both minis fit nicely in a pocket of my purse. Around the house all three are available with different juices. So I use them all all day long. I'd be hard-pressed to have to choose between the minis or the VV.

Guess I'm no help. :D

Oh, wow, CATastrophe, you really are big-time no help:p! And that cat in your avatar looks so sublimely wise and all-knowing. Could it talk, that there cat would surely set me on the right path. Getting slap-happy with decision-making, here...I'm going VV and then seriously considering a second job for the others. Thank you again, weirdos!

My two cents ..... If you can only have 1 REO make it a Grand ......

But if you can have 5 make it 1 Grand and 4 VV REOs :D

What I'm saying is vaping is important enough to me that I make sure I have at least one indestructible bullet proof, idiot proof REO at all times.

Yes the VV is better thats why I would get 4 of them after I have a grand but there is just no way they are going to last forever like the trusty non VV REOs will.

Then there is the stacked batteries concern ..... real or not. I would prefer not to do it and anxiously await the day Rob comes out with a VV v2 with a single 18650.

As far as a kicked Grand ?? Throw that out the window ..... it would cost exactly as much as a VV grand once you buy the REO and the kick.
And I'm pretty sure for as much as I've used my VV REO I would be on my second or third kick .... some don't hold up to well.

Congratulations and kudos to you and your Aunt! What a big accomplishment! (I tried converting Mom, Sister and Aunt and failed with all three)
My vote goes to the VV Grand. I garden with mine...just keep a cover on it to avoid getting dirt in the electronics. They have also taken a few tumbles without any issues. They are tougher than you might think. Not indestructible like a Grand, but pretty close.

That kitty is Molly. She's since gone to the great cat tree in the sky, but she was a pretty cool old gal. She came to live with us when she was seven. Had spent the previous 6 years in a shelter. We called her "The stick-tail Kitty" because she had such a thin coat and skinny tail. Her goal when she lived with us was to wait until our original queen of the house passed on so she could be top cat. She got that wish for her last two-ish years. She was happy about that. :)

I struggled with decisions, too. I got a mini - knew I wanted one after trying an Old Goat Bottom Feeder to test out the basic style. I was warned I wouldn't stop at just one. Although I resisted, all these folks here were right. I'm just not a tube mod kinda person. Then it took me about 5 months to get another. Wouldn't be without those minis. Perfectly hassle-free. Then it took me another 5 months or so of hem-hawing about a VV. Husband tried a gripper, and got me one too. That sealed it for wanting a VV Grand. He has my gripper now. I used it about 2 weeks then ordered a VV Grand. So my everyday arsenal is just the two minis and VV. I think I'm pretty well set.

You'll love whatever you choose. :)

Well, Molly was one gorgeous cat. Before the four rescue pups I have now, I had three cross-eyed, scraggly (but fantastic) Siamese; but that picture there makes one better understand the ancient Egyptians! But back to other, more recent, passions -- I took the plunge! A brand new green and black VV Grand will be on its way to a very furry new home after the holiday weekend:vapor:!! And I figure for more rough activities, maybe I'll convince Aunt Rose to swap with me, though that Grand has not left her hand since she fell in love with it. I'm so thrilled to join your happy ranks. Thank you all so very much, again!

Thank you! But I see you've already snatched up an excellent potential moniker for her, if I were ever to convince Rose that she'd be in good, salty company here;)! My head's spinning a bit pouring over the Reo forum to stock up for the optimum supplies for our wonderful new analog-killing-machines. I'm pretty sure I won't have to ask many embarrassing newbie questions because, if I'm not lazy with the old search bar, it's all been answered many times over. Boy Scouts and Reonauts believe in being prepared!

I think her and I would get along famously, Becky!

And by the way, there are no embarrassing newbie questions here...well maybe embarrassing for you, but not us, and quite often, searching for the answers to any questions could be a long hunt here!
So just ask away!

p.s. maybe just check the thread headers and if you don't see one that might answer your questions, just go the the Lounge or even start your own thread as you did already!

Happy vaping!
