I started out using smoktek pre punched cartos from IBTanked when I made the switch to carto tanks. I've been very happy with them. Still, I wanted to try Boge, since many say they're the best. Well, every Boge I had in a five pack has given me a burned taste within two days. Is this normal? The smoktek ones seemed to last weeks, but I went through that pack of Boge cartos so fast. Was it the Smok's that were the oddity, or was it the Boges? I'm concerned because, before the first Boge I was using started tasting burnt, I went and pulled the trigger on a deal of several packs in one order. Per carto, it worked out to be cheaper then I've ever seen. Now I'm thinking they worked out that way for a reason...

Unfortunately, cartos can be hit or miss no matter what brand you use. Even Ikenvape allegedly had a bad run of 510-Fusion cartos recently. It's no different than the inconsistancy of replacement coil heads in clearomizers.

I've always preferred Ikenvape 510-Fusions & Platinums. My second choice has always been Smoktech single coils. I've never personally cared for Boges because their filler is more compact, which because of the way I prime my cartos is a PITA to use.

That's my :2c: for what its worth.

Carto quality may be due to have some quality & availability issues in the next couple of months. It's the Chinese New Year. Typically this means the Chinese workforce takes 3 - 4 weeks off from work. Many of the factory workers sign up to work for a year around this time of year. Many choose to not return to the factories and go back to becoming farm workers. This means the factories must train new workers while trying to catch up for the month of non-productivity, which often means a drop in quality and availability of products like cartomizers, clearomizers, and other stuff. Expect your usual e-cig vendors to be low on these supplies in the coming months.

Are you using the laser punched Boges?

If so, I have seen someone else have an issue with those. Nothing I know for sure, but I'm starting to think that maybe the Boge pre-puched cartos have much smaller holes compared to smok, and don't allow juice in as well. If your using the laser punched cartos, try taking a sturdy pin, and boring out the holes a bit.

I used Boges in a carto tank for a really long time, but I bought plain old SS ones and punched them myself. Never had any issues outside of the odd DOA carto.

"Bogegate" was more of an issue with a strange taste with the filler. A burnt taste in a carto screams nothing but "dry" to me, as in it's not getting liquid from the tank quick or efficiently enough to stay saturated. One dry hit from a carto and it's toast, there is no getting rid of that flavor.

Bad, thats an interesting insight that I had not thought about the possibility of. Pretty certain though that from my own discussions with my rep that there is a strong availability of said workforce this year since we are in a dip in cartomizer production. There has been quite a lot of buildup in production over the last year and now there is a strong trend of new users picking up the CE blister pack, these are likely folks who never read a forum but at least they have found something that works for them so its a plus in any accounting system.

As I see it the numbers boil down to migration of those who go the coil your own route and the split with CEs that most can agree doesnt keep many going for long so those end up either not staying with it or finding one of the alternatives. Just a guess on my part but I would lay my two cents on a resurgence of cartomizers as folks realize it just works. There are so many folks coming along that simply want a good experience to replace the old habit and dont want to have to do too much legwork to get there. I set up two folks tonight, neighbor had a BBQ and invited us and a couple of his guests are now vapors and quite impressed with it... took about a half hour to run it down and left them a flyer, pretty good I think considering english is not their first language and they were both quite happy and enthusiastic to have something that was satisfying yet not so complicated as to seem like fail from the start.

Also during our meetings with our Smok rep I emphasized many times that consistency is where they need to be for the win, hopefully they were listening. I would also like to say my rep is now my friend, it is very nice to deal with someone on a step above faceless emails. I have a strong faith that our words were heard and will be taken to heart.

I'm half Chinese, and I figured something like this before I ordered that bulk order, which is partly why I did it. I'm just worried now the bulk order won't make it through if I burn through them all so fast. Figured IBTanked is an American company, and so may still be good for replacement glass and such for cartos during Chinese shortages, but the cartos would be a different story so I thought I'd bulk up on those. Hmm... Hope they aren't all like the ones I just used... Maybe it's the way I'm priming them? I've been priming them like you do, and maybe I'm not putting in enough due to the tighter packing? Maybe I should try the filling the condom with liquid thing? Seems like such a waste of juice, but if they prime better that way, better the juice then the cartos at the moment.

I have had pretty good luck with Boge, but I also just order unpunched cartos and punch them. A burnt taste could very well be the carto isn't getting enough juice. If you use a high VG it is thicker and the carto may not be able to keep up. I guess you could try topping off the carto and see if that helps, if so it would point to the carto holes not allowing enough juice into the carto.

I use laser punched, and 50/50 juice. I think the issue may be that the ones I got in the single 5 pack only had one hole punched. I misread it when I ordered that pack, but since the hole was so much larger then the two hole punched cartos from Smok, I thought I wouldn't be a big deal. I does seem to be drawing in liquid from the tank as I hit, but I guess the one large hole simply isn't cutting it. The bulk order I'm waiting on os definitely two holes, so hopefully I'll be okay. If not, then I guess I'll be investing in a carto punch, as I'm not about to let a bulk order go to waste.

Yeah, I think you got it covered. That is a rather thick juice for one hole, best of luck. I normally don't mix my juice more than 30% VG, and I always punch two holes. You can get some good deals on Boges when you buy in bulk.

All I use For Tank cartos is Boge 2 hole Laser punched(1mm per hole)
I DIY only 50/50 blends and all my previous purchased e-liquids used in the Carto tanks was 50/50
My Cartos normally last for weeks with light to medium e-liquids.
Single punched would be better for 70/30 mixes.

Also, 50/50 can get a bit thick when cold. A few primer draws is good insurance when picking up a tank that has been idle. after a vape or two things start to warm up and flow better.

Like many here, I buy my Cartos in bulk for the savings. generally 30-50 boxes at once. Have not had a defect yet.

As fast as the vaping community is growing I highly doubt Blister pack Ego/Clearos are hurting the Cartomizer business. Most new Vapers start off on cig-a-likes or Ego kits anyway and soon start searching for the next step.

Thanks for the advice. I've been moving from cold to warm with my tanks. I'm in NY. I'll definitely start taking primer puffs from them. I'm relieved to head that the bulk order of boges with two holes punched should be good. The one hole ones have huge holes, so I thought that would make up for the lack of a second, but I guess that doesn't matter as much, huh?

Also, I just cleaned the coil from one of hubbies Mini Protanks and one was pretty burnt out after only one tank full of this one particular juice I also have in one of my burnt tasting cartos. He vapes at 6.5 watts, so I know he hasn't been putting too much power to to. So, some of this may also be a juice issue. It tastes great when not burnt, but apparently this juice burns a bit too easily for us.
