Today is my 4-week vaperversary. No ciggies for a month!

I had a few drinks, and came up with the idea of trying an analog cig, just to see how it compares to what I've become accustomed to. So I found my old ciggie stash (7 packs left!) and went outside(!) to try it. Verdict: It was OK. Decent throat hit, but not as much smoke/vapor as I've become accustomed to. And there was no good flavor. In fact, it tasted pretty bad. Now I have a bad taste in my mouth, and I probably stink.

Is it common to do these types of tests? In my case, I was curious to see how my 40-year old habit compared to my 4-week old habit. The old habit lost.

My wife's son is coming to visit next month. I'll offer to give him those cigs. But first I'll turn him on to an eGo. It will be interesting to see if he actually takes those $50 worth of Marlboros after learning that they aren't necessary.

I have been cig free for over a year and still have my leftover stash of cigs (too expensive to throw and we saved them for our earthquake kit LOL) A few times I have seen them and thought I wonder if I would still like them? But then I decide, yuck, why bother and so they stay in their hidden little spot in case of a major catastrophe ! Their probably really nasty by now LOL!
I cant imagine going back and only wish I had figured this out sooner...

I just looked for the pack I had with a lighter. My wife told me "Your son smoked them a couple weeks ago". Wow! didn't need one, but now I have no backup-backup-backup-backup! I think that if anyone needs to have one, then do. As you found it wasn't as pleasant as you might have remembered. Although I have longed for a Kool NF for some years.

Lol Rocket. So the cigarettes were the ultimate backup?

For me it's three 5v boxmods and a VV boxmod, 80+ ml of 24mg liquid, at least 3attys, about 5 cartomizers, 3 chargers, 16 batteries, a 5v passthrough and two 2 amp car adapters. Chargers can also be plugged into car outlets as an extra backup.

Backup for the backup, just in case the backup fails :)

EDIT: Truth be told, my ultimate backup is my blood pressure device. I start it and breathe a huge sigh of relief when I see 110/68
It used to be 140+/102 or so.

For a couple years before I quit, I used to stuff my own tubes with really super premium bulk tobacco. Prior to that, I smoked Winstons for 33 years and couldn't choke one down once I upgraded to RYO.

So, there I was with 2lbs of good tobacco in the freezer for several months, along with a machine and 2 cartons of tubes in the closet. One night, after more beers than were prudent, I rolled one up! YUCK!! I paid $50 a pound for this??? Gave away the whole mess a couple weeks later. I've got enough nic in the freezer that, worse comes to worse, I'd rather rub it into my belly than light up an analog again.

I also have a good sized solar panel so, being in Florida, unless it's a nuclear apocalypse that blots out the sun, I can make do.

I've had 2 since I *quit. But both were at the bar so it doesnt count LOL. First was a week after and I wasnt impressed then I just had one this past weekend. I've wanted one every day since I had stopped but it wasnt an urgent need so I could ignore it. Since I had the one last weekend I havent even wanted one. They dont have yummy flavor.

*I didnt consciously decide to quit when I did. I just finished the pack I had and just never bought anymore since then. I was only having 2 per day at that point anyway. One on the way to work and one on the way home.

I'm going to qualify this by saying that I was a cigar smoker before I was a cigarette smoker. That being said, I still love the taste of real tobacco (read a good cigar . . . preferably Arturo Fuente). There is something about it that cannot be replicated. However, at about $10-$20 dollars a pop my cigar habit, unlike my analog habit, was always reserved for special occasions. So, I made the switch from analogs to PVs about two months ago and have only had one analog since. It was on St. Patrick's day while I was at the local Irish pub; it tasted like crap, but not because of the tobacco flavor. There are something like 4000 chemicals in a cigarette and I believe that I could taste every one of them because it took about 3 Guinesses to wash the taste out of my mouth. I shouldn't be surprised because the same thing would happen when I would smoke an analog right after a good cigar. So, for me, it is not the taste of tobacco that I no longer enjoy, but the taste of the chemical additives it analogs that I can no longer stand after my last (and final) foray into the world of analogs.

Me too. I was a RYO dude and still have my trusty Topomatic, about 5 bags of premium tobacco and a bunch of boxes of tubes. I've only been vaping since December 2011 and have never considered myself an "ex-smoker." I'm not even trying to quit analogs.

But the thing is they are simply not as enjoyable and you REALLY have to work at it to smoke them. I hardly ever have an analog anymore and it's not because I have anything against smoking them. Probably the most I've ever had in one day after I started vaping was approx. 5 and that was pushing it. It's practically impossible to go back to analogs once you start vaping and have found the correct hardware that's convenient for you and a few flavors you like.

Interesting. I found the RYO much more enjoyable than the stinky Winstons I used to smoke. I didn't find it much work to RYO either. I had an EXP2000 machine. I liked it better than the Topomatic or the Premium machines I had worn out and with that little machine, I could knock out a pack in 7 minutes flat. But I was smoking 2-3 PAD. I didn't really plan on quitting either. I wanted something to replace the Snus that was getting expensive due to the new laws and that I was using to cut down. The day I got my first e-cig, I never smoked another analog. I just started vaping, had a couple snus the first few days and never got around to finishing the last pack I rolled. I never finished the snus I had either. I ended up throwing them out when their expiration date came and went. I just basically vaped my brains out for the first week and never gave myself time to think about lighting up.

Hey John, Glad to see that the old habit didn't work out for you! I've been vaping for four months now and haven't looked back. Smoked all my analogs first week of vaping. Only time I think of them is when someone else is smoking them, and I think, EEEEEEEUUUUUUU, that's nasty!! That said, I'm with ThroatKick, I have back ups for my back ups and even then have a few plans after that. LOL

Vaping definitely killed any intrest in cigs for me, the smell is just too foul anymore. But while on vacation this last Feb I bought a very expensive Cuban, because that's what I do on vacation and what do you know......It was terrible! I can no longer enjoy cigars. I was slightly bummed at first since it was a vacation ritual thing for us, but Hubby seemed to loose his taste for them also. He prefers the 0nic coffee juice I mix. So I loaded us up with vaping delights and exploring we went instead of hanging out in that stinky cigar bar :)
