I was a smoker for 16+years. For at least 10 of those years I smoked at least 2 packs a day. My husband and I did the RYO bit for quite a while and when the price of RYO tobacco went up, we started buying pipe tobacco. Now, I've only been vaping for a week, but I know for a fact that I could not go back to the RYO. I still smoke a few "REAL" cigs (Winston 100's) a day, but even they taste gross and upset my stomach.

I had a bad day a couple weeks ago, and out of spite or something stupid like that, ragefully stomped into the garage & picked up a new pack of cigs I had stashed in there. Went out on the deck, lit it with the anger of a thousand white hot suns, took two drags and about puked LOL! It did make me laugh and I got in a better mood. Not because of having the cig, but because I could pick up my PV and enjoy vaping that nasty cig taste out of my mouth! I threw those backup cigs away and Jimmy Crack Corn, I don't care! :D

Lol Rocket. So the cigarettes were the ultimate backup?

For me it's three 5v boxmods and a VV boxmod, 80+ ml of 24mg liquid, at least 3attys, about 5 cartomizers, 3 chargers, 16 batteries, a 5v passthrough and two 2 amp car adapters. Chargers can also be plugged into car outlets as an extra backup.

Backup for the backup, just in case the backup fails :)

EDIT: Truth be told, my ultimate backup is my blood pressure device. I start it and breathe a huge sigh of relief when I see 110/68
It used to be 140+/102 or so.

Oh wow, I finally found a backup plan! I didn't have one since I'm just 2 weeks into vaping. Completely used up any analogs so none would be around to tempt me, but I still smell them around the house, ugh. I feel lucky to have 2 batteries and 10 carts which I got from the local big-store chain. Got a small assortment of juices online. Have been searching through the forum and visiting sites trying to decide what to go for next as a step up. I LOVE your ultimate backup though. I just check for a heartbeat. If it's on, I'm good to go. So far, so good \:)

I am pretty new to this vaping stuff but I have made it 8 weeks without an analog! Nobody is as shocked as I am but about 3 nights ago my husband was out on the deck smoking a cig...he has cut down quite a bit with the ecig...and I decided to take a drag just to see what it would taste like after two months. I was actually surprised that I didn't cough, didn't bother my throat, nothing...it did taste bad though. I expected more LOL

I too still have and issue with that. I've been vaping for 3 months. I don't even crave real cigs at all. Until my best friend comes over. Just watching her smoke during her last visit made me bum one, then another, then another. But when she left, the cigarettes went with her. And I DIDN'T go to the store for a pack of my own. Luckily, she only comes by once a month. Next visit I don't plan on bumming any.

Dear All,

I get a creepy feeling reading all these stories about how horrid real cigarettes are. I agree that they are bad for most people, but so is alkohol, stress, fast-food etc. etc. Life is a terminal disease, let's enjoy it as best we can.

I've been vaping for 3 months now, when I started I smoked 1-2 real ones in the morning. Now they are gone, and sometimes I miss them, but no enough to go buy any. I don't mind smokers around me. I may smoke a real one in the future, but I'm now a dedicated vaper without an axe to gring against the real thing.

I have the same sentiment as you. I'm on no rampage against real tobacco or users thereof and still consider myself a "smoker." Let's not kid ourselves about what's really going on. We are all addicts simply using a different "nicotine delivery device", to use the industry term for it.

I don't find "real" cigs as awful as most of the other posters here do. I can smoke them occasionally with pleasure. I don't take one drag and go "yuck!" or anything like that; it's just that once you find some good hardware and some good juice that you enjoy the taste/hit, etc. of it makes vaping become way more pleasurable than smoking the "real" stuff ever was or could be.

But YMMV, to each his own, etc...

Norman

p.s. I understand some folks may be using e-cigs as a way to gradually "kick the habit" altogether, and if so, that's great and I truly wish you the best of luck, but in the meantime it's not comparable to an alcoholic "falling off the wagon" to smoke a "real" cigarette because when vaping you are still getting your fix of nicotine.
