MelissAnnH,

You will quit because you have the burning desire to do so (pun intended maybe).

In time you will find what works best for you. Most of us have done so through vaping - this may be the best route for you at the present time.

Stay focused and continue your research - you will achieve your goal.

Vape On!

Very cheap! If my credit card wasn't locked up with the combination thrown away (LOL), I'd be buying me a blue one and a pink one. I already have black and stainless.

When they are on sale I buy backups for my backups! Some will fail, hopefully not, so you'll want a few extras on hand.

That is Damn Cheap for an OEM JoyeTech Twist. Only $19.99 for a 1000mAh battery? That is dirt cheap for not being a Knock-Off.

Yes, other vendors show them for around $20.00 but are "out of stock" I just ordered a few extras from Virgin and more juice.

So true.
Melissa, just a word of caution (possibly?) is that Virgin Vapors juices usually need a couple weeks to steep! Not to dampen your enthusiasm to start vaping right away, but I fear that you may not like many jucies from very many vendors right out of the mailbox!
I've only heard of a very few reviews of a few juices that are good right out of the mailbox. Most seem to taste best after they've set around for a week, two, up to a month or more! I've ordered from virginvapors several times and don't like the juices until a month or so later  But for your sake, I hope you like them right away and can start vaping immediately if not sooner LOL
Also, I can't stress enough, to have several chargers! Several ego twists and clearomizers and cartomizers or tanks...but have about a dozen all totalled for starters! A car charger for a passthrough device to use while driving. Extra wall chargers, and even an extra USB passthrough PV so you can vape while at the computer and not drain the batteries you just charged! I have found that it doesn't matter if someone calls stuff "knockoff" or the "original" or whatever. Any of them can suddenly die :( and you will be momentarily bummed.
But maybe not if you have backups of everything LOL
Good luck! :) This is a wonderful ecig community to learn just about everything you'll need to know about vaping!

Hey,

I totally feel your pain on this.

First things first; ignore what other people think. They are probably too close-minded to see what an amazing technological advancement eCigs are. If they say the best way to quit is going cold turkey, they've obviously never smoked before and do not understand how difficult it is.

My opinion is that you should start out with a cheap, analog-looking eCigarette, to see if you would actually enjoy vaping.
Don't stop smoking analogs though, just get familiar with vaping.

If you feel like you enjoy vaping, then do some online research and find which eCigarette is right for you.

You can then proceed to start vaping and slowly fading out analog cigarettes. Whenever you feel like smoking, take out your eCig and vape away

Good luck!

im sorry but baaad advice!!! keep smoking seriously? one has to make a mental commitment to this or it's all for naught, i for one quit exactly a half hour before my vapemail showed up and i haven't touched one since, and i have ZERO willpower but i made a mental commitment to not killing myself, if your not willing to put some effort into it then save your money for a carton of smokes, this isn't a game or free ride, the cravings don't stop you gotta wanna quit, hell if i didn't believe that i'd be smoking 2 packs a day again, vaping made it so easy to not even think about smoking, but the demon is still there coaxing you in the back of your mind, and it always will be......

IMHO, it's a marathon and not a sprint. While agree that someone has to want stop smoking to stop smoking. I don't agree that it's an all or nothing game. Vaping isn't a smoking cessation mechanism it's a healthier alternative that follows similar ritual, delivers nic and eliminates the other ~3999 harmful chemicals we were inhaling. I wish every could simply "quit" smoking but also think that any cig avoided is a small victory. Many people here have been very successful with a transition period of smoking less supplemented with vaping (hopefully leading to all vaping one day).

No one should feel bad or be chastised for trying, any smokes avoided is a step towards a healthier future.

I have read alot on these forums since I have joined and one thing I see is people pick up an E-cig and find that it would be possible that it would work for them possibly just to reduce the amount of analogs they currently smoke. I have read some were able to quit as soon as they received there starter supplies and I have also read where some weren't able to make the transition to complete vaping on the very first day. Everyone is different and I think every analog they avoid by doing this is a step in the right direction. I do agree that you have to want to quit the stinkies to be able to succeed. But to set it in mind like I can never smoke another one to some will just make it that much harder. Just like me being a diabetic telling me I can eat nothing with sugar in it even tho I was never a big sweets eater makes me want it even more. I have read various posts here of people that continued to smoke the occasional analog for awhile along with vaping and then one day just realized they went the whole day with out one sometimes that may be the best way for a person.

And Jeff I just want to say to you Congrats I am glad you were able to do it that way. You must have some will power somewhere because if you didn't you would not have succeeded. Just that what works for one person may/probably will not work for everyone. And that is the great thing about these forums and people sharing their stories and what worked for them. So its a great support system.

LOL Jeff I know what you mean for some people thats the way it works for them. Me too I would rather vape there is way more flavors then you could possibly ever imagine and never get with an analog. Its also really helped me curb my cravings for sweets which like I mentioned before I was a diabetic I never really had many cravings but its that thing of being told I can't that makes me want them even more now. But the vaping some of the Bakery/Sweets flavors really help that as well. I have a bottle of Halo Belgian Cocoa which tastes just like eating a fine chocolate bar I can't vape it all the time but thats the first thing I go for when that chocolate craving hits and then I no longer feel the need for scarfing down a real candy bar. LOL

I've heard a lot of great things about the Volt. It's an e-cig look a like.

After a week and a half of using my main set up (eGo C Twist with every type of clearo/carto imaginable), I got the craving for a cig-style but I needed strong TH. I ordered the $20 Volt start up kit, and I love this thing (I've never used an auto, and I am loving it). Now I use both. When I want more of a massive vape TH experience, I use my eGo Twist. Before trying the volt I thought I needed this since I was a PAD+ harsh menthol smoker (Kools and the like). What I've found is that it's nice to have both

@MelissAnnH - you can check out my skepticism, and my mini-journey over here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/smokeless-image/332933-very-interesting-some-questions.html.

My thoughts would be buy both. Are you in Freehold, NJ? If so, then the cost of the Volt starter kit is 3 packs of analogs. You are making a step that will change your life, so if you can, spend as money as you feel comfortable spending knowing that you will make it up not having to pay $7.50 a day (closer to $1.00 a day) in a few months.

As for your boyfriend, get him involved. Show him all of your toys, and get a 0 mg tasty e-juice. My fiancee didn't understand how this was "quitting" smoking until I got her some BackWoodsBrew 0 mg e-juice, and now she sees how it is nothing like smoking. Now, when I am vaping, she'll occasionally ask me to set her up with a clearo on a twist battery because it tastes like a jolly-rancher. And we have fun watching movies in the den like we are in a hookah bar!

Hope some of this helps.

Maybe try the "candy cigar" method? If she uses a 0 nic ejuice, and doesn't inhale into her lungs (puffs on it like a cigar), I don't see how she will have any bad reaction other than wanting you to order her more liquid!

Also, I'm in no way trying to convert non-smokers into vapers. What I've found though is that the support of your significant other is the most important thing you can't buy from a vendor. Having the SO experience to some level the difference between vaping and smoking can help with this (helped with my fiancee). She went from having no interest in vaping (as it was still "smoking" to her), to understanding what it was by actually using a device, to getting to the point where we have fun discussions about all of my new toys and my new hobby. Hope that makes sense!

i get ya man, my philosphy is if you haven't started smoking by 18 why bother? man if i could go back to grade 9 and take that day back i followed all my "friends" and lit a smoke i'd give anything to get it back

Agreed - I wouldn't ever give a nicotine product to someone who is not a smoker! I can't imagine how much more enjoyable my life could have been (not that it's been bad!) if I had never lit up 20 years ago.

Glad to see you've placed your order. Just wanted to say "Good Luck". Also "Don't give up!"

There's a lot of "fiddly" stuff with e-cigs. Learning curve and trial-and-error to find what works for you. The cost savings of even partial success will allow you to continue to experiment until you find the "combination that works for you" (this month)... lol.

In the "old days"...it took 5 volt vaping and dripping for me to stay off cigs. Now-a-days the VV will help you. Dripping is NOT very practical if you drive 4 hours a day though. So the cartos/tanks will help with that. Tanks are a bit more ....um....fiddly. Start with the cartos, IMO and keep the coil wet by tipping!

Bottom line is that it's all new and requires patience and experience. You'll get there! Don't quit quitting!
Good luck again.
