Can't wait till the Eclipse's start shipping so they can really be thrown into the argument too, lol.

Personally, I think I'll pass on the Provari. Battery life probably won't cut it for me, and the idea of it not cooperating with certain atty's/carto's is unappealing in a $200+ mod IMHO. Between the two I'm still sold on the Darwin, but if I buy one I just know I'm gonna want an Eclipse too. lol

... maybe the $350 price tag will settle your dilemma.

:sneaky:Wow Haad-you seem to have opened a can of worms with your simple ? of how to get a Darwin up to Canada!!!
One way that MAY work is to find someone (before you place your order w/nhaler) who is willing to be your "shipping address" here in the states and will forward the unit to you (unopened of course) when they receive it. I'm sure that if you were to send them what it will (approximately) cost via Paypal to post to you everything will work out fine. I'm willing to do this for you and you man PM me if this interests you.

My 1st experience w/pv's was with club 51 (mall kit)-i stopped soon after starting because mall cartos are crazy priced (5/$20)! Eventually i found ecf and got an ego, then a mini reo and now a Darwin.

What i longed for that led me to a Darwin (after MONTHS of intense you tubing and research) were:

*not having to carry spare batteries with me
*consistant vape (w/removable batts i started out strong and ended up w/a whisper)
*Usb/passthru convenience (ability to vape and/or charge in the car/ while plugged into wall outlet)
*discrete looking mod (nothing too big/shiny/phallic) looking
*easy to understand display
*ease of use (i pay no attention/care if the atty i'm grabbing is LR, dual coil/whatever-same w/cartos)
*hot vapor (nothing like great TH regardless of the juice)
The Darwin figures it all out for me-whew!!! I usually use 2 different settings (lower for fruit flavors and higher for tobaccos) to bring out the best flavor.

The only thing that I'd like to see the Darwin with is a juice feeding system. Oh and how could I forget about that darn hard-to-push button....

what? !!!*%:? .... haha; just kidding.
OP, I think the reason you got (and anyone who posts about these 2 PV's) so much response is that these are the only premiere "smart" pv's on the market today. They have taken the next (techno)logical step towards better vaping, and obviously there will be many more in this bracket.

I am not even anxious about the next level myself, if there is one... I think the next big step is in atomizer improvement. (they have me by the b_lls at $4 to $9 each, and for the 901's, short life).

fwiw, amp limited function, could possibly be a plus in the long run... i don't know, and don't really care. ( i will say that not being able to vape LR or DC on the Vari is hardly a setback on boosted variable power).

My main reason for jumping in here is 1. in my enthusiasm with great vaping, to join the discussion of course. 2. to learn 3. mis-information (not that i'm a rep for anything other than the best interest of us vapers)

That said, imo, the price range of both these and any upcoming "smart pv's" is simply the cost of innovation. Any company that ventures in with new improved gear had better know their stuff, and provide good warranty (they do).

If you think about what people spend disposable income on these days imo $200 is not entirely crazy (not to diminish anyone's income bracket or the state of the economy).

The main point i want to make is that these companies, as far as i know, are not making their products in 3rd world countries for $ a buck an hour, and they are risking capital to provide us with new gear. The price is what the market will bear because that's what it costs to make a good product on this level; at least until big biz takes over.

hope you love your Darwin... i think it's a great PV.

......I guess it's up to you to point out where someone (stownz) is factually wrong... feel free.

I believe I did. But to be more specific, I dropped mine in a tub of water and it kept working like a champ. I've dropped mine several times on concrete and it never failed to perform or crack the glass or break in any manner. The only problem I have had with it was that the button started to stick sometimes. I sent an email to Evolve about it and they OVERNIGHTED me a new one the next day! At our last vape meet, I talked with several other Darwin owners and one also had a problem with a sticking button and they overnighted him a new one also.

To me and all Darwin owners that I have talked to, it is a very sturdy device with outstanding customer support. I have no problem with someone liking the features of one PV over the other. That just personal preference. But the experience of so many other Darwin owners with the device and Evolve as a company, is so opposite from stownz's badmouthing, that it tells me the guy has an agenda other than pointing out the differences between two PV's.

agreed about the CS... the best i've seen; and i like the transferrable warranty...
a good pv can be resold easily.

I had one of the first run, and it had a problem not due to user error; Brandon sent me one immediately; even before i sent mine in.
Unfortunately the second one had the same problem, and they have since fixed that i guess; but they offered me a refund which i took because of my issues which they didn't have to do (refund)... like "for any reason" type of warranty i guess.

It does things the Vari can't do, but i just like the Vari better; for me it's easier to use.

I can respect your take on the Darwin and having a preference for the Provari. I cannot respect blatant, onesided badmouthing like stownz does on multiple posts. When so many people have either found the Darwin to work as advertized or to have the company go above and beyond to fix an issue, his comments reek of a lack of integrity.

I also want to say, I don't think the Darwin is perfect. There are areas they can improve on and as someone mentioned, they have made improvements since the first batch was manufactured. I have told them that if possible, they should find a thumb wheel that is less sensitive. I wouldn't mind one that was notched at each interval difference even if they had to widen the intervals a little.

Nope, lol. I used to spend over $650 a month on Analogs. $350 for a top of the line high-tech PV seems fairly reasonable to me. $550 for both an Eclipse EQ and a Darwin also sounds reasonable-ish. One for home and one for on the go... makes perfect sense to me. :D

I just got a provari and love it , looked at the Darwin but it doesn't really do anything more than the provari and it is just a awful design imho no replaceable battery ?? the provari with the 18650 gives me a full 24hrs no problems and I can pack a spare or 3 if I really need to vape that much away from a charger . Really Haadkoe do yourself a favor and get a provari the darwin really looks to be a flash in the pan
