I Wish People Wouldn't Be So Quick to Blame Vaping for Everything

Good post Funtobefemale;

I think my first response to anyone who tries to tell me that they haven't quit smoking even after they have switched to vaping, would be to correct their statement.
Smoking is a primitive delivery method of burning something, after which you inhale the by-products contained within smoke. A true statement is that you are still using nicotine even after you switched to vaping.
Nicotine is a stimulant, which has its uses. By switching, you have eliminated your obligation to finish the rest of a cigarette. You have already begun to take your control back from a habit or an object.
Yes, be proud that you have switched and be encouraged. You have evolved from primitive delivery methods such as burning to a more advanced method of heating a liquid, much like coffee which is just another stimulant.

Switch, add flavor, and help others to regain their own control.

And vape On!!!

I didn't have much in the way of side effects.....except for the growing boobs.

I hate it when guys hit on me, and women stop me on the street to ask for advice.

We tend to think "well I didn't quit smoking, I just switched to vaping."

NO YOU DIDN'T. You took out 4000 chemicals from your body. Particularly those of you who have been smoking a long time, these things don't go away overnight. Ever seen the breakdown of the days, weeks, months, years, that your body goes through once you quit smoking? Removing smoking from your life starts the process of healing. Weird things can happen. Have you ever quit before? For ANY length of time? Have you noticed the changes your body goes through?

I just think people get so hyped on vaping causing all these problems and FAIL to remember that smoking was a process DESTROYING your lungs, suppressing your immune system. When you take this out of the equation, your body has to go through an equal and LENGTHY process of healing. NO ONE heals from trauma (physical and emotional :D) in a day, a week, a month, or even a year.

GIVE IT SOME TIME.

Please note that I am obviously not referring to what is CLEARLY life-threatening. Aggravations, coughs, headaches, sleep disturbance, these are ALL NORMAL for a period of time - and that period of time is different for EVERY PERSON.

Lot of people are just looking for excuses to go back to smoking. I have thousands of dollars in attys/cartos/mods/DIY gear. In 10 minutes I can put together the baddest ... vape combo ever seen, completely eradicate any nic cravings you ever thought you had, and custom tailor the Flavor/Throat Hit/Vapor production you always wanted... This still doesn't stop my wife from smoking...

because she doesn't want to gain weight.

Isn't weight gain (specifically, a lack of the same) a function of nicotine? There shouldn't really be any (well, much, anyway) weight gain when switching from smoking and vaping.

Being able to taste things better does contribute in eating patterns but yes I think nicotine is the primary reason of weight maintenance.

That said, I LOST weight and my boobs got bigger! And I was already very thin. :D

Vaping > Smoking
By a LONG shot. No more "lazy, queezy" feelings after you vape. I've met a few people that know what I'm talking about. I don't really lose my appetite like I did when smoking. I haven't gained much weight though... I dunno. Vaping is a very "pure" and "clean"-feeling way to "smoke" and get your nic.

People will make ANY AND ALL excuses to keep smoking. I've heard them all. It's almost akward- I'm actually embarrassed for them because I KNOW they're making that crap up and I almost wanna laugh when I hear it. Until I think about how I USED TO BE THE EXACT SAME WAY. I know that I didn't quit until I was ready. For whatever reason.

My mother in law was like "it hurts my gums" or "it doesn't satisfy me" or "it gives me a headache." Blah blah blah. Funny how that all went away when she finally decided to give it a go and now she's been cig-free for the past 4 months now!

You have to WANT IT. Ecigs made it simple, painless, and EASY for me to quit. I'm going on 2 years now God bless.

I've actually run into people who say that, their reason for not trying vaping as an alternative to analogs is because some of the components and niquids are manufactured in China, and they are afraid the the Chinese are trying to poison us, or some such nonsense. Of course, pointing out that virtually everything they buy comes out of China anymore doesn't make much of a dent in them.

Of course, people make lots of excuses about virtually anything and everything: saving money, losing weight, drinking, even quitting smoking. If somebody happens to be one of those kinds of people, and is making excuses about not taking up vaping as an alternative to analogs, I can't see that hanging around here is going to feed his or her needs; seeing as there are so many success stories to be had, and so much encouragement for those who are in the process of quitting, and using vaping as the bridge to their goal.

Look! We are here for support and to give support - not to poke... Xiotaki has made it clear he wants to make this work, but is experiencing problems / side effects that he did not expect and are interfering in ways that are hard on him.

But, again he has repeatedly said he wants to make this work.

We are all on this forum because we wanted to make a major change in our lives - quit smoking analogs. We know they are bad for us and many of us have tried several things in the past to quit smoking them (patches, gum, hypnosis, etc.) and they did not work.

Well we went to vaping to give it a real try. We had either heard or possibly even seen the success people have been having with vaping. We want it to work for us also. And the best way to get it to work is through the knowledge that is accumulated through this forum and the good folks behind it...

This is the first post that I have seen go sideways in any way shape or form and I hope it is an anomaly and not a norm. This is not the forum for this type of forum. There are other forums designed for that. This one was not designed for that...

So, Please and I mean Please - let us go back to supporting the individuals that are starting their journey. Never forget the support that you received when you first got here, but do remember to pass the support on to the next individual asking for help - no matter what kind of help they are asking for...

I'm not participating in ANY sort of forum, I am just reminding us of the side effects of quitting tobacco use. That is all. It was meant to inform and encourage not to dismiss or discourage. Keep at it, keep vaping, give time time. Your body is healing!:rickroll::wub:

don't shoot the messenger ! (but I might shoot my bird if he doesn't stop chewing on my keyboard )

I am one of those people where if there's a side effect, my body will find it - I'm always in that 1-4% of people who gets a side effect lol.

I'd be interested in the results of a test where you had the placebo. Expectation of a result has been shown to make it far more likely. :)

Love the Post!! Very true. I had a heated debate with a friend about them. "It's not quitting, You're substituting one addiction for another, There's still nicotine!" Blah blah blah. Maybe I am substituting , but i'm subtracting 4,000 other chemicals , nicotine is about as bad as caffeine, and my body sure does feel like I HAVE quit smoking. I'm okay with the road of body changes, the ups and downs. I get my body is healing so I'm ignoring whatever setback's I've been feeling for the fact the bonuses are amazing. Feels good to be free! Free from lighters, free from counting smokes ,the anxiety of only having 4 left, & free from being stinky!
I think my friend is just on a high/jealous horse anyways because he recently quit smoking cold turkey :p
