I am just getting around to building my iatty's finally.

nice little devices.

a couple of questions.

1) is this leak proof? I mean it seems like when I turn it over because of the drip tip hole, it is going to leak (as opposed to the penelope and oddy)

I am using one of kir's adapters with my own tip. This could be the issue.

2) am I correct to assume that the older wicks (2mm) are better than the newer larger wicks? I tried to get the 3.5 in there and it seems like a tight fit.

on a sidenote, anyone know how to get in touch with Kir? I bought a couple of the clear tanks and ran them through my ultrasonic and they immediately cracked. My fault totally, but I need new ones and have sent 4 messages with no response.

thanks in advance for all the help :)

Hi there Ob, the iatty should not leak out of the mouthpiece.
I use kir adapter as well to use my own drip tip.
I use the 3 mm wick in there but careful as it will fray (I now mod my ceramics to make wider slots for the wick and it works fantastic) I double wick it just at the coil and let about 1-1.5 mm over from the ceramic. I don't cut if flush to the ceramic)
Don't fill them all the way up. fill about 1/4 inch from the top of the tank and make sure you don't go above that because then it is really overfilled.
When you wrap the wires around the delrins, make sure that you make a complete 360 degrees around without overlapping. If you are short, you will most likely have a tipped cone and this will make it difficult to put the top cap and oring on. It will also cause leaking out the bottom if it is tipped.

I hope this helps...VIVA LA IATTY...LOL

So you don't run the wick down the sides?

Thanks for the help btw :)

sorry Ob, I should have been more specific...one of the double wicks runs down the sides and down to the bottom...I am pretty generous with the wick that I leave down below too...the 2nd of the double wicks is the one that is trimmed past the ceramic...
lets see if I can add a photo...

these are loose wicks but they do fit in the delrin channels. Sometimes I have to twist just a little so they are a little tighter but they fit nice. I would trim these wicks a little but do have them longer...I just like them a bit longer.

Got it. I should have read this before I just cut them off.

Back to building. :)

For what it's worth, I've had no leaks at all, and I'm not particularly careful about where I put the GGTB I've got mine sitting on top of. I've found it to be just as leakproof as my Penny.

Got a Kir tank on the way for it myself, but I did it the old-fashioned way... just went to the site and ordered it, and waited for it to ship (along with some Penelope stuff). There was never any direct contact with anyone about it.

They do not have any replacement tanks on the site. I have the metal still :)

The iAtty is 20mm or thereabouts, correct? I bet that bad boy looks absolutely stunning on a GGTB, eh Trick?

It does. It's just slightly bigger, but yeah... I had it sitting on a GGTS for about a week before it occurred to me to put it on the TB, and it hasn't been off since.

[And how is it that my phone cam can barely pick up the engravings on a GG, but it can make my hands look 100 years old?]

I just realized why I think mine are leaking so much.

Mine did not have o rings on the bottom where the 510 pin goes through to make contact with the 510 device.

Also there was no oring on the top where the top cap screws on.

Did everyone else have those with the new ones they ordered?

It came with only two orings total. One on the ceramic cup base and one on the bottom of the tank where it screws on.

you miss the 2 more nessesary o-rings ob. Without them Iatty cant work

So I am trying to make sure I have this right.

There is a small o ring in the top part near the drip tip hole.

There is or is not one on the top of the tank where the top cap screws on?

There is supposed to be two below the ceramic.

There is one on the bottom of the tank where it screws onto the base.

And there is one that goes on the 510 connection too.

Is this correct?

So I am trying to make sure I have this right.

There is a small o ring in the top part near the drip tip hole. Yes, that's correct.

There is or is not one on the top of the tank where the top cap screws on? No, not one on the upper threads of tank.

There is supposed to be two below the ceramic.Yes, that's correct.

There is one on the bottom of the tank where it screws onto the base. Yes, that's correct, it's on the base threads actually..

And there is one that goes on the 510 connection too.No, that's not correct, just four total.

Is this correct?

Just four total, you might be able to get away with just one on the ceramic, but for the sake of stability I wouldnt try it except as last resort.
