Idea, but what next.

I have just been reading though another thread on ECF, titled
I invented something!

Well, I have also been working on ideas and Mods and have now found a way to get rid of all cartridges, No fillers, No foams, No constant dripping, No juice wastage, and no leaks. Also you can vape for quite a long period of time on one initial fill-up.

This little idea is a handy DIY, or Mod, whatever way you might want to look at it. There are two parts to it, both quite easy to do. It was not expensive and all the necessary parts were already available. This idea has been added to my Tornado and has been tested for two weeks before convincing myself, it is pretty much fool proof.
One nice thing about it, it does not take away the original cosmetic appearance of the standard Tornado-EGO- or the Riva PV.

Now! the thing is, I know if a proper Bona-fide manufacture, fabricated my idea, i have no doubt that the company would earn a lot of money from the production of a pukka device, especially if they produced it so it could be used on any PV currently on the market. Manual battery models are OK, but I'm not too sure about PV's with automatic batteries, However i think it could be done. There are lots of clever people out there.

I am not prepared to give away my idea for nothing, as i have always been one for coming up with ideas in the past, which i now see people buying from stores because someone has said something to companies that have the finances to produce the items, but using my ideas.

This time i am keeping it to myself, just for now, until i have spoken to the right people. These maybe people that want to produce the item, or people that want to save the sales of cartridges, or people that may want to produce a brand new generation of the E-Cig based on my idea.

So again, here is what i have got.
1. An E-Cig that does not want a cartridge.
2. No more fillers/Foams/Springs or the constant search for a
better, long trouble free vaping duration.
3. No more burnt taste.
4. No more dripping to get that perfect taste from juices.
5. A simple quick and easy top up daily, or when needed.
6. No liquid wastage.
7. Hours of constant vaping from an initial fill up, all day, all week
or more, depending on how you use your PV.
8. Almost forgot, no more liquid in the mouth.

The idea has cost me nothing other then a brain storm.
The idea put into practice cost me just a £ or two and an hour to make.
The idea works perfectly and has been tested with no failures.

I will patent this idea ASAP but!

Where do i go from here?? Stick with the UK...Go to USA, or maybe China.

Feedback please, what would you do? what would be your next move?

It would be really sad to see the e-cig industry get mired in patents the way that the computer industry has. Fortunately the Chinese don't give a hoot, so this industry will take off whether the US goes along for the ride or not.

If I could give you my advice, as an entrepreneur who has made millions inventing and selling electronic hardware: to hell with patents. Spend your time and money developing a quality product and getting it distributed. eCig technology is advancing so fast, and there are enough ways to make one that nobody is going to license yours no matter how good it is. However if it's a good idea it WILL get knocked off and sold in every other country - for which you won't see a dime anyway.

Your best defense against cloning is to produce the best implementation yourself and build a trusted brand to sell it. This is doubly true in the case of eCigs because the Chinese do NOT appreciate the importance of branding to the US/Europe market.

As another entrepreneur, I agree about patents. Mostly useless. There have been books written about not wasting money on patents. (Check on Amazon ?)

Also, have you got several thousand dollars to pay for a patent? Heck, if you want UK and US it may be five thousand or more. I don't know. Then what about China. How much are you willing to pay attorneys to defend your patent ? The police don't arrest patent offenders, especially in China ! You've got to pay attorneys. Then hope your wallet outlasts the other guys.

The problem is that most people do not have the inclination or ability to carry a product
through total design, manufacturing and marketing. So you may be out of luck.

The best approach may just be to sell a mod.

Just don't blow too much money before you think and read about it. And get some more advice. I may be all wet.
