Just a thought here but if there were a 26650 REO, there would be no issue :D

I'm running a converted Tobh clone on one right now and the door will slide up, not by much but it will. The scale is a little out of whack though, the Grand just wasn't designed with larger atties in mind. A 26650 model though, now that would be a perfect companion for a 22mm atty. Just my :2c: :)

A 26650 Grand...now thats a mod I'd stay up and hit F5 all night for...lay it out like the 2.1...a step under a 6ml bottle

If the groove channel was no higher than the current top of the door location, it shouldn't hit the atty at all. The door would actually be a little shorter than the current one, and the channel would slot in below the lowest point of the current dripwell/510 area. Sucks that I can't draw worth a crap, I'd sketch it out. A visual representation would be easier for everyone to understand I think.
I am following you no sketch needed

Holding my grand in hand thinking that the current way it's made was with a ton of though and logic. I wouldn't change it no matter what size attys I run. Here's why:

It would eliminate the rounded corners.

The door would be prone to sliding just by the grip of your hand.

:). :). :).

I thought it was determined the 26650 battery technology wasn't where it would need to be for low ohm high power vaping? The VTC5's 30a@2600mah is hard to beat for energy density.

Party pooper :p

I'd agree from a function perspective, but come on! how cool would a 26650 Grand be?...Grand Grand?, Grand XL, Uber Grand?...Mack Daddy Grand!

I'll take one of each :D

I was in no way meaning to imply that the Grand was flawed or poorly thought out in any way, I wouldn't have all my eggs in Robs basket if I thought that were the case. I was unaware that 26650 technology was that far behind that of the 18650, but love the thought of a REO that would last me all day without changing batteries or refilling which I do at least once and sometimes twice a day. I still also think the scale would look really nice with a 22 mm atty not to mention that it would be a great excuse to buy another :)

I think the only guy in that thread who said he couldn't use the 22mm atties was me, anyone else should be able to slide there door down, mine is the only one I know of who can't slide down at all, only up :)

I did that one in the bottom, my first woodvil I did in the side, and then the latest one I did was a combination of both with the module below but the screen wrapping up the side. like that I was able to install it from the inside of the mod so that's probably the most efficient space wise.

basically put it where ever you see works best for you and where you think you can finish it best I guess. doing it from the inside saves a whole lot of fabrication and finish work and is the most compact way but a nice extension can really add to the look of the mod too I guess...
