I was at my local mall, when I noticed there was a new smoking everywhere kiosk. So I went up to him, and he said the kiosk was brand new, and that his brand of e-cig was by far the best. (He noticed my chuck). He challenged me to a vapor contest... I laughed in my head, because I was vaping at 6 volts. After I destroyed him, he made an excuse that his battery was almost dead.

I then explained to him that I easily won because of the 6v battery mod. He then explained it wasn't the battery that mattered, but the atomizer. He then proceeded to say that

"This product is 200$ for a reason"

I then said I purchased a 510 kit for 35$, and it far surpassed my friend's smoking everywhere.

This conversation went on for another few minutes until I got sick of his ignorance and bid him good day.

It IS $200 for a reason - to make a profit - see he wasn't lying ;)

It's $200 to cover the rent on the space, the cart/kiosk, hiring people to sell their ecigs, workers comp, etc.... If their volume of sales increased, their prices would be more competitive with internet retailers. The only place I figure you could really make a killing today would be an airport kiosk. Particularly a major airport with a lot of international flights.

Yes, that is one of the major reasons, but not in the way be was implying. I would also bet that they are making huge profits, and COULD cut down the price if they wanted, but until there is in-person competition for e-cig sales, they will charge the highest price they want.

Heres my smoking everywhere experience

I went up to the guy to see if they sold juice he told me they only had cartridges... for 20 dollars for ten. I told him that was a ripoff. He assured me that it was okay because each cartridge was equivalent to a pack of cigarettes.

I told him " come one now we both know thats not true" He said " Oh well it is in nicotine content."

I told him that this little gem was not true either. a 12 mg liquid does not = one pack.

I then was curious to the models they were even selling They were these piece of crap models that were probably worse than a 901. I showed him my 510 and he said that it was made in china by small children.

I laughed and told him that his model was too and the liquid in the cartridges.

I told him that we obviusly wouldnt agree and I gave him the website for this forum and walked off.

I hate these guys

I'm really lucky. The SE Kiosk at the mall closeby me in Springfield, MO has a super nice guy running it. In fact I think he may have even switched companies I'm not sure. But he started carrying juice (just china stoofs but still) for reasonable prices, people come around with Prodigys and such and he doesn't care. Great guy to shoot the breeze with and the best part is he is right next to Starbucks. lol

If I run out of juice I always go see him, pick up a 20ml bottle for 15 bucks to tie me over until my shipment from Drew gets here, grab a cup of coffee, sit down and have a chat for a while.

I think if more salesmen / kiosk owners were like him - there would be a lot less animosity towards them.

I have mixed feelings on this issue. The kiosk where I first encountered e-cigs wasn't SE, but it was very similar.

Was it overpriced? Most definitely. It was almost $200.00 for a kit with 2 automatic batteries, one atomizer, and a charger. But the guy threw in a free pack of prefilled carts. SCORE!

But I went back later to find that additional attys were $35.00 each. ouch!

Was the salesperson completely honest? No. He claimed -- as most of them do, I believe -- that one cart equals about 1.5 to 2 packs of cigs. So a pack of 5 carts should last me a full work week. I found out quickly that was not the case.

He also told me that he didn't sell liquid refills because it's not as cost effective as buying their prefilled carts. He even went so far as to say the liquid vendors were rip-off artists.

Do I regret my purchase from him? Absolutely not. If I hadn't stumbled upon his kiosk at the mall that day, I most likely never would have tried it. And that led me to research these devices further online, which led me here. Otherwise, all I would have known about e-cigs would be what the FDA and its media shills have been saying.

Yeh, I see what you're saying, and otter people have similar stories, but it's like hearing "If I hadn't wiped my .... with poison ivy leaves, I never would have learned about toilet paper." It may be true, but you don't want to see anyone go through that.
