Ok, so I have mentioned here several times that thus far the best rda/rba I have when it comes to flavor is the cheap-o Phoenix.

My theory was that a vertical wick / coil at the center of the chamber, around which all airflow revolves it much much better than any other system (note that the original Genesis specs had the wick & coil in this location

Seeing as I also have a IGO-L that has seen very little use due to it not being up par with my beloved phoenixes & I also had a phoenix clone that was all torn down with loose posts etc I decided to make a little experiment,

I'll let the pics talk for themselves, but basically if comes down to having a good time with a dremel, taking parts from the Phoenix, and making a Franken-IGO

Note that the the final pics wht vapor you see is with cheap dekang 100% PG

the final build comes at .8 and I just wish I had down 4 wraps (as I prefer hotter vapes), but as it is I'm having a pleasant, amazing vape (and I'm getting a nic-out for the first time ever, may have to go to 12 mg from on this puppy)

So Cal
that looks cool. I hope you enjoy it. i'm also glad the phx works for you.

as far as my opinion goes I hated the phx. I have it, I thought the build quality was so so, but hey what was I expecting for 8 bucks. Bought another one hoping it would be better and I just had a dud. Came in and what a pain. Difficult to line up the air holes. post kept on getting pushed up by the pos pin on any mod I put it on.

as far as the igo-l , its been great for me. On par with my higher priced drippers when setup right.

I dont run vertical mesh so that could be why. Enjoy it man that looks cool

I tried to do that on my Cyclone the other night. I was trying to put a sleeve of Nextel over the positive post to wrap it with a vertical coil. Sadly the Nextel, being so short, would come completely apart as I tried to put it over the post. I might give it another go in the future. My atty is a bottom feeder and the juice is delivered through a hole in the positive post. I thought it would be interesting to see what happens introducing the juice inside of the wick.

hey guys, thanks for the comments!

some observations since yesterday:

- It was very easy to pulse oxidize the wick, I thought I'd have massive shorts seeing that the positive post is fully wrapped by the unoxidized mesh, but I had no problems here even easier than on a genny). There is a smal plastic gasket around the positive post of the IGo-L, so so long as the wick is narrower than this gasket it all seems to be fine.

- I thought that the leg b/w the negative post and the positive one would give me a hot-spot problem but again, no problems here, i made sure to leave a little sag, not too much but enough to let it expand and contract

- the cotton is doing a very efficient job at wetting the mesh wick. I don't get any scratchy hit until every single drop is gone and the whole base of the IGO is dried-out

- before (with the original IGO), while using a ss mesh, silica or mesh-silica on a horizontal wick I'd have to add anything between 8 to 14(!) drops, now 5 drops last me just as long

- the wick at the center & vertical is perfect at catching the juice drop when dripping directly from the drip tip. before, with the wick being offset from the center, I'd have to take the drip tip and drop exactly where I wanted or drip on the drip tip and wait a couple of seconds waiting for the wick to wet the coil. that's gone.

- as the coil breaks in I'm actually enjoy the five wraps @ .8 ohms (I normally use .6 at 4 wraps). the vape is still not as hot as I'm accustomed to but it's gotten a lot more pleasant since yesterday. Battery should last 25% more too (although it's still a sub-1 ohm!)

- I can't over emphasize this: it doesn't matter how I placed my top cap's air hole (except off course other than EXACTLY behind the negative post, but that's a tiny spot) or how I grab my device, it works & performs THE SAME, loving' that

unloaded, I have an A7 on the way which I bought just to test that, will report on it next week (I'm not in the USA but it's on its way)

also, I wrapped the coil around a drill bit (1/16"? can't recall but a tiny one) and then transfered to the center post
