I wouldn't either Fran. I want my wood, if I still used it, to be stacked so I can get at what size I want. Kindling, small pieces to start or long burning logs.
Yup that's the way I do it. Regular wood in the shed and kindling on the deck in large wood cradles.

I used wood to heat my old place in Tx, but I had to buy it by the cord. It was cheaper to get un-split, so I used to wield a pretty mean ax. That was a good 20 years ago tho, no way I could do it with my back issues now.

From what I know & observed of her weekend activities (paint cans, etc.), I'd venture to guess one of the following:
- Recovery
- Rehab
- Incarnation
