I ordered a few of each to give a try. I don't want to start using them until I can get a little bit of advice first:

1. The premium cartomizer: I have only used E2's before this and a Joye cartomizer. The Joye I just didn't like the taste and the cool vape. The E2's are great if you can fix 'em up, they are inconsistent out of the box and you definitely have to rinse and clean, dry-burn them first. So my question...for those of you who have used these - how are you filling them and do they need any prep before use? Opening one up I noticed the 'coil' doesn't seem to be a coil but a straight wire that is exposed a little above the fill and then 'sinks' into the fill a little below the top of the fill.

2. the 2.0 ohm 510 lr atty: I notice on the 306's on Ike's site he says to prime them with 7 drops , hit them twice then drop in two more drops. I am a fairly new vaporer (sic) and my LR 510's can seem to flood easy on 3 drops or they just seem to be inconsistent, vaping great one second then getting slightly burned and hot even though I know the coil is wet. I am finding I think I don't like vaping on a 1.5 ohm atty, it seems to be a little harsh on the juice. Was hoping a branded, slighter higher ohm rated, crafted-with-pride item from Ike would give me a more consistent experience but before I touch one of these I'd like some feedback.

TIA

edit: I am using these for now on a eGo/Riva setup

Hey gotlogos,

1. You can fill these cartomizers by removing the top cap and dripping slowly directly on the filling at a 45 degree angle. You can also use a condom fill method by filling a condom with 25-30 drops and slowly pushing the cartomizer in with the threads side down until all the juice is in the carto.

2. To prime your LR510 atty, simply drip 4-5 drops and take a couple of short primer puffs. Every time you notice the flavor drop off, just drip 2 drops. If you hear a gurgle sound, you may have added too much juice or added it too prematurely. Some people like to add three drops instead of two, but in my experience, adding more than two drops to a 510 atty can easily flood it.

Vapor's right on with the 510 prep, you don't want to add too much just enough to keep the juice in circulation till the atty find's it dedicated run spot (break-in) Some take longer than others, but shouldn't take no more of a few hour run time.

The Premium Platinums may provide a burning taste in the looong run, but depending if your using an Riva's or eGo the overall all time will vary. From an honest standpoint, I don't care for them as much. The consensus disagrees , they like the warmer type vapor feeling.I prefer the Gold label's cause they are smoother to me and I had control of the build environment.

I have followed some of your posts and I can see where your question is coming from. No you do not need to do anything to the cartos you receive from IkenVape. Vaporologist explained it in a nutshell. Fill and puff away. That is the way IMHO that all cartos should re used. ready to go out of the box :)

Some folks have had varying degrees of success with vaping above 4.2V with these cartos, me not so much. I do prefer them at 4.2 - 3.7V. I am starting to believe that it may be my vaping style that does not permit HV use. But they do fine on the eGo especially with cone.

All IkenVape attys come with primer (VG or PG) that is what is supposed to be used. Some folks do not like to vape through this, and that is OK. Sometimes I forget to blow mine out before priming with my liquid, no biggie. But generally I blow them out and prime 5-6 drops, and take a couple of small toots to see where the atty is at, and go from there. Replenishing at 2 drops when VP starts to diminish.

Can't disagree there :)

Switched and Ike- thanks much...

The 2.0 ohm 510 atty has been a night and day from the ones I have been using honestly...I blew through it and primed with 5 drop, took a couple of primer puffs and haven't missed a beat working through the night, haven't had a leak and had one little run for a bit where I added a bit too much but it didn't leak, was able to vape through it. I'm finding I'd like the vape to be a tad warmer so I think these might just bit perfect with a true 3.7 volt (vaping on an eGo and a Riva)...btw I love the stainless steel...

I filled the premium carto with some avejuice blueberry crumble (I have the platinum, I didn't know there was a difference other than color of the threads between the platinum and the gold). It actually was ok but with a slight hint of the poly. I'm really used to a completely unaffected favor when the E2's are workign good, but it wasn't bad like it was with the joye cartos. After a good dozen or so vapes it started to get a bit dry on me but it could work better with something no so intensely VG (ave is almost 100% VG I think)...

ave juices are indeed 100% VG and thus doesn't wicj quite as good in cartos. I mix my own liquids at cut my juice 4/1 with distilled water. Maybe Porphy can cut his all VG juice as well.

The riva should be putting out 3.7V I believe, but I dunno I don't own one. My woodbox ego running an 18650 gives me lots of bliss.

I'm on day two with the 2.0 ohm 510 IKV atty and I'm really liking it. I rant into a weak spot before I went to bed last night I think from a little flooding. I took off the atty from the PV and let is sit then picked right back up and its going good again.

Someone mentioned to me in a PM about the 801 minis, that they are just loving them (ty Matt :). After success with these I was thinking of trying them out...

gold labels ? what are those and do you still sell them ? I'm currently using genuine joye 510LR (1.5Ohm) and they burn the juice too easily and once they start to stink its impossible to get rid of the smell. Oh and they get waaaaay too hot so quickly.

Hi Dee,
Yep, Gold label are special 510 cartomizers. However I totally know what you mean about 1.5 being too harsh and once burnt, is no fun to deal with. That's why we build 2.0 atomizers. They're not Overkill but fine tuned just right to be as smooth as smooth can be simulating an actual analog while delivering good flavor and ample vapor production.

Yup! Can no longer vape it.

That's really sompthin? I guess that might have been "what was up with switched" a couple of weeks back. Hope your doing well now.

I've been making a slow return to vaping these last couple of days after having been exclusively snus'ing for a couple of months. My weapon of choice has been dripping with an LR901, P16, AWIMR setup. I've purchased exactly 1 LR901 from IkenVape and that was sometime last spring. This particular atty seems to be immortal! A very nice vape w/o as big a kick as the 801, exactly what I was looking for right now.

What I discovered about snus is that it's a great nic delivery system and also delivers the "other stuff" in whole tobacco products. But that "other stuff" is a double edged sword. I like it and crave it, but it's really hyper addictifying (to me). I've insanely re-habituated my self to tobacco products, so I'm backing off the snus these days. Doing a combo of an occasional snus and an occasional dripping style vape.

If this continues, mini 801s are definitely in my future!

There was a couple of things that were bothering me at the time, and becoming sensitive to PG was not what the Dr ordered. I am fine with all VG cut 4/1 with distilled H2O. It has an added benefit - plumes of vapour. I only needed to tweak my recipes 1-2% for a matching flavour.

Wrt snus or any other tobacco product. They contain a slew of addicting chemicals that are not found in vaping. As I said before, nicotine in itself is only mildly addictive compared to the other neuro altering chemicals contained in tobacco products. That is why I was so POed, as albeit I have decreased my nic consumption, I knew I would not be able to totally abstain at this point in time, and we don't want to go there. Luckily VG was there for me. I am now on an accelerated path towards being zero nic, because regardless of the claims wrt second hand vape being totally safe (no smoke) it bothered my wife, well PG liquids did. Personally I don't like some of the comparisons being made wrt PG. In "general" it is benign. The reason it is not labelled as safe or what a safe level is, is because some folks cannot tolerate and have adverse effects of even small quantities. She and I are now fine. I wish you all the best "goldielocks" and take care my man.
