joyetech said I shouldn't do it... Tens, if not dozens of reviewers advised against such unholy machinations... And yet I ignored them and pushed on through anyway, for SCIENCE!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I have indeed put a non-approved tank on the joyetech Batpack:

More specifically, my Coilart Salt RTA!

Part of me did it for science, part of me out of a desire to spite the masses, and another part of me just thought they would look cute together (I ship inanimate objects together, not anime characters!)

I slapped a .33ohm SS build in my tank to compensate for the lower voltage output and am getting good MTL vapor production. And my AA batteries didn't explode or mutate into demonic abominations either! Although that build really isn't doing me much good for flavor, unfortunately... So there's room for improvement

But as a proof of concept, it indeed works! Let it be known that I, Mr. Classica, dared to go where no human hath gone before. I will be remembered as a prophetic pioneer. A trailblazer of the new vaping era.

Thanks for reading

Darn. I thought you really wanted someone to put you in a straight jacket. :( I ran over here just to get my hopes dashed. Hope you're happy.
BTW congrats on the tank on a Joyetech Backpack thing you were talking about.

Well, maybe I do want someone to put me in a straight jacket... But there are better and more "specialized" forums to make such requests online lol

And thank you! I've been itching to try it out, but I couldn't find anybody online that had tried the pair together yet lol

Just curious: How long do the batteries last?

Sometimes you just need to excercise a little restraint ;)

I picked up a battpack while going spend crazy on vapocalypse gear a few weeks ago, hoping that it would fire my wife's Nautilus tanks, but had no luck. Not quite sure what the problem was, they did nothing. Sadly, my concept of what should and should not work on this device is very limited. @Mr_Classica you've given me some hope. :)

It should fire a cigalike carto just fine. Nautilus wouldn’t be my first choice for finding something that worked. There’s probably going to have to be a microcoil involved somehow

This doesn’t strike me as unlikely. You just treat it as a 2.2v unregulated device, which is what it basically is. Wrapping a coil for 2.2v is not particularly difficult. It IS going to be pretty small and use fairly fine wire.

Joyetech says the batpack is capable of supporting 1.85V constant voltage output.

I attribute to you the courage of the first astronauts, the first circumnavigation sailors, the first guy to eat an egg or an oyster. Humanity owes you.

Just curious: How long do the batteries last?

With store bought batteries? Not very long, it would seem. I bought a pack of Duracells and got maybe 2-3 hours from them with moderate to semi-chain vaping... But in a pinch(which is the only reason I'd recommend using regular AA batteries) I'd say that's still pretty good

I intend to buy a pack of high mAh rechargeable AA batteries today and test the batpack with that, which theoretically should last much longer. And I'll update the thread with reports on usage and things like that as I continue to experiment with it.

At .33 ohms, not very long no matter what he tells you

The coils for the Eco d16 tank that comes with the batpack are only .5 ohms. They need to be low, as that 1.85 voltage won't do anything for higher ohm builds. And I don't think the batpack is variable in any way, it just... Outputs voltage. And that's it

The voltage output on the batpack is simply too low to create enough heat/vapor on high resistance coils. You MIGHT be able to get something decent if you're using the .7 ohm Nautilus coils, but even then that would only come out to around 4.8 watts of power... Not really the best

That's why I used an RTA with a low resistance build. It's the only way to get a satisfying MTL vape off of this thing. Otherwise you'd just want to use the tank and coils that came with the kit

One issue you may see is the nominal voltage of an alkaline battery is 1.5v whereas most rechargeable are 1.2v iirc
