I remember back a few years ago when CASAA was born on this very forum.
The folks that represent CASAA also represent us, because they ARE us.

CASAA was formed by those here on this forum.
The people that would represent the consumer side of vaping were voted on here in this very forum.

Please, add you voice to the cause...

I joined today. Only been off analogs and vaping for two weeks. Still learning and would like to understand WHY the very people telling me to quit smoking want to take away the means that did just that!

Well done, Redmax and chawk!

For some understanding of why Tobacco Control don't like ecigs, hop over to the Media and General News and the Legislation forums. You'll find links to lots of articles and blog posts, pro and con, and some excellent discussions on the subject.

(Cliff Notes: There are two main reasons, money and blind ideology.)

I don't really know why more people don't join CASAA, but I think there may be at least five factors:

1) They think it costs money.

2) They worry about the confidentiality of their info. (and/or think they might be spammed, etc.)

3) They don't realize that it's a charity with no paid staff and/or think that it might be affiliated with BT or other profit-making entities.

4) They don't understand that it's in their own self-interest ... i.e. that the ANTZ are pursuing anti-vaping ordinances, legislation, taxation and regulation everywhere. The only place where it's safe to be a vaper is on an extraterresterial body :(

5) They don't realize how easy it is to just click on the banner (i.e. they don't know it's a link).

After I started doing daily media round-ups, I got a good idea of just how bad things really are. Then I decided to become both a supporting member and join+donate to CASAA.

I could've used the banner in my sig, but opted for a different approach (once I finaly figured out how to do a sig!).

I don't know where, but somewhere on ECF, right before I joined CASAA, I remember advocating for CASAA to do surveys on ECF and perhaps elsewhere trying to determine why vapers aren't joining. This thread would be a poor example of what my idea of the survey ought to be. You survey without using propaganda to get people to see your way of what the results ought to be leading to. There can be time for recruitment of that type later. But it would be helpful for CASAA to put aside, for just a few moments, the incessant call of "join CASAA" and really, truly listen to potential members of why they are not wanting to sign up. And not be on the defensive and just waiting for the moment of silence to refute all their reasons and scream, yet again, "join CASAA!"

I agree.

Except that it's not CASAA calling for people to join.
It is CASAA members themselves.

But whenever we ask why people aren't joining, there are almost never any answers.
I only say "almost never' because one person did explain one time.
