Well, After this, I'm heading out myself. But, the arguments for the vape ban in Long beach were that it's being used to lure children towards smoking tobacco. Bloomberg.com has interviewed as to why, and it's seen here

Ignorance is bliss... That is why I am trying to educate people, including yourself, on what's going on and why. It's hard to believe that these laws are put into place from incorrect data being introduced to city officials. The research they did was highly suspicious, and not really conclusive, but they drew a result from it and said that E-cigs could be a gateway drug. A report on THAT study is Here. People are making laws over what could be and maybes, but the data has shown quite the opposite, as in decline of cigarette sales while the Ecigarette sales rise.. A report on that is here.

Now, with that being said, I am a vaper, and you are too. However, I do not hate unless you're not listening, which you aren't. You've changed your thoughts several times. If your friends blow clouds in a library, then you need to look for other friends. I have also tried to educate you on what a hobbyist is... we like to rebuild coils. Very few of us go on camera and blow vape at the camera. I have never done it, and I don't know if anyone here has. A hobbyist is simply someone who likes to build coils or change their vape gear/coils/wick to suit their liking. No hating, no elitism here, just we like our hobby. If you have any problems with your vape gear, chances are, a hobbyist can help you out since we know and probably experienced what you're having problems with.

The only thing I don't get, is pegasus blood or willy vanilly... I have no idea what those are..

And if politicians finally find a way to ban ecigs entirely, I'll be glad to tell you how to wrap your own coils or make your own E-juice, or save money in building your own mod.

Neal, you sound like your pretty authoritative and I'm your student. That's funny! I've vaped for 2 years and you make a lot of assumptions. I started this thread by saying I know about the different gear, all I care to at this point, and I did NOT " change my thoughts several times". Your condescending attitude is rubbing me the wrong way dude. We are all in this together. My theme was for the peeps that think blowing a bon-fire in public is cool and I say "It's not helping our cause". Period.

"Librarian" is a metaphor for all the judgmental people just looking for a reason to take our vape away. I mentioned several times I have no problem with 'cloud chasers' or Hobbyists that build clouds, as long as they don't get carried away and use some discipline in public.

Long Beach passed the law because they were stereotypically ignorant and nons have no sympathy for anything nicotine/tobacco related that we do. My POINT of this whole thread is not to give these glue heads any more ammo.

So Neal, the next time someone posts, don't assume you know more than they do and try and "educate" us. "Sharing/Exchanging" info is a much better way of removing yourself from the pedestal Professor Neal deal. Peace.

To be honest, sounds like a personal attack on some folks in our community. I think what OP is trying to say he disapproves with cloud chasing in libraries. I have to say I agree. But all in all there is a time and place for everything. There are many aspects of vaping from hobby to smoking cessation. No need to stereotype everyone that does not use OEM as a cloud chaser. I think this will get personal soon so I am finishing up my and heading to bed. Vape on ECF'rs and good night.

Neither Hookahs, pipe, cigar, or any other sort of smoking accessory gave smoking a bad name. It's not the volume of smoke that made them illegal, it was the fact they cause cancer, smell bad, etc that did.

Vaping is the same way, most regular vapers out there use an Ego... and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But, there are people who want a bit more enjoyment out of it. It may not be that they can actually blow cumulus clouds that warrant an instant weather forcast every time they exhale, it's the hobby aspect of it. Those of us are hobbyests. We like to fiddle with little things, wrap our own coil, try something new to get a different taste, warmth, etc. We're the most knowlegable about how they work, since we make and remake our own constantly. We don't always say "go buy this to make a mega cloud".

On this forum, I have never seen anyone say "switch from a cigalike to a mechanical mod" We know there is a happy level for everyone, and it may not involve anything more than an EGO battery and a Mini Evod. If that makes them happy, then don't switch or change. IF you come to the forums seeking something a bit more, people can guide and give suggestions. if your Evod leaks, we can give suggestions on that, or whatever questions anyone has.

If you're concerned about the clouds of vapors from a select few, then you have a lot to be worried about. We are hobbyests, and we like to tinker. There are wine officianatos that spend hundreds of dollars for a bottle of wine, who swear it tastes better and will drink nothing less. They are the kind of people who know what flavor generally comes from a geographical region and make suggestions on a type and region of wine to suit someone's taste. They can tell you how to aerate the wine properly, and what temperature to chill it at. Those are hobbyests too.

I am not a cloud chaser myself, but if someone wants to cloud chase, then that is their prerogative. Not all of us are going for more clouds, I go for RBAs because I like to saturate the air with some un-vaped liquid along side the regular vapor. I like thick coils and a flavor you simply cannot get from an evod. I'm sorry that my hobby is making things worse for you in your mind. I thought this was a place to help others, relax, and enjoy the ocmpany of someone else with a similar hobby as me.

There's nothing wrong with mega clouds and there's nothing wrong with having sex.
The issue which in 5 paragraphs you have sidestepped, is the WHEREABOUTS of it.

I was rolling my own with ultra-thin paper (silver packets here), because I wanted to taste the tobacco, not burning paper.

Sure, an EVOD is fine to give up smoking, just as the cheapest packet of coffin nails will get you your nicotine fix. But a Protank tastes better, and a rebuilldable tastes better again. But I wouldn't tell a newbie to go straight to a rebuildable, because this is a hobby that has to be learned. Each new bit takes time to master, and before you master it it's just a huge hassle and it doesn't work right.

I'm not saying that's why you don't like the "more advanced" stuff, many people find an EVOD is all they need. But the easy part about rebuildables is winding the coil, and that is all that the youtube videos show. Choosing the size of wire, the coil and the wick so that the wicking matches the capacity of the coil is an art that can only be learned through experience. If you get it right, it vapes wonderfully. If you get it wrong, it's just bleah and you wonder what all the fuss is about.

You're totally right about it being an art form. I'm still in class and winding the wire around something without the end slipping from my hand while trying to form a coil is a frustrating thing.

Last time.. I think some of you selectively read. One poster clarified it..Just use discretion. I talk to hundreds of people per day. Their fear is voluminous clouds that look like smoke is harming them. Not good for continuous vaping pleasure cause.
