Sorry for the cheesy title, lol, but I had to say it - I LOVE CARTO tanks! :p

I started my vaping journey almost 3 months ago with a cig-a-like (phew!), then upgraded to Egos, C4s, Protanks, Provari, pro tanks mini etc. etc.

I have so far invested around $2k in gear and juices (not a problem as I finally have a hobby that I truly ENJOY!).

Out of that, Provari has been my best investment so far, along with a dual charger, batteries and case.

Here's my experience with various set-ups:

* Ego clearomizers had no taste, poor vapour production and wicking issues even with 70/30 juices.

* Pro Tanks/pro mini - oh God! Wicking issues, gurgling, leaking, burnt taste - the list goes on an on! (anyone fancy geting almost new 4 x pro tanks 2 and 4 x protanks mini 2?)

Then, after spending DAYS on the ECF, I decided ok - let's try the most basic set-up there's is - Cartomizers! I bought Boges, Smoketechs and Totally Wicked ones - normal, large, XXXL - standard, low res, dual coil etc. All types and sizes to test everything out.

Some were better, some worse BUT the absolute winner for me is BOGE LR! I started with XXLs and they're great. For going out etc. But I knew that I have to try a carto tank set-up.

So I ordered one standard length, 22mm tank from IBTanked and I believe I have FINALLY found my perfect set-up which is:

Provari + Boge LR + IB Tanked carto tank.

I Like everything about this set-up! It's easy to use, flavour is great, vapour is great + my Provari finally looks stylish! :) Which is a nice added bonus.

I have now ordered 2 extra Provaris and 2 extra tanks from IB Tanked as I like rotating 2-3 juices all the time.

Speaking about juices - this would require a thread on it's own but I'll try to quickly share my discoveries:

I started with store bought juices, 12mg and in the beginning I had all kinds of health related problems - heart papilations, chest pain, chest tightness and super high blood pressure.

I quickly realized that 12mg is too much for me (previously I smoked 10-15 Marlboro Lights a day). Yes, I know that sounds weird as most would probably use 18-24mg but for me, even 12mg was too much.

So I started doing my own juices so I can have 100% control on what I vape! I found that MY personal, ideal juice is 6mg, 70/30 PG/AG.

And that's not all.

I also realized that all the juices I bought online are way too strong in flavour for me! I just can't "drink" cappuccino all day long or eat cakes by vaping these super strong juices! I wanted something lighter, something that doesn't make me feel like I'm eating all the time.

So here's my formula:

I dilute my own, un-flavoured juice with juices (not flavourings) I bought online 4/1. So I take 8ml of my juice and add 2 ml of store bought juice. This creates a nice flavouring touch to juice but doesn't make you sick vaping it all day! It's like un-flavoured juice with a little flavour.

I do believe that most people are un-aware of the fact that our taste buds actually adjust to what we intake. I mean - most people use way too over-flavoured juices when they could use less flavouring and STILL get the taste! But of course it's up to each individual.

I now have ingredients to make such juice for at least 5 years, lol

So today I'm really happy as I really feel I have finally found my ideal set-up. For now.

I wanted to share this story as maybe some newbies in a similar situation can learn a thing or two. And I can't say big enough THANKS to all posters on the ECF - you have literary changed my life and I have no desire going back to analogues now EVER!

Thanks again,
Andy

Yeah... carto tanks are in the mail... sigh... but I can gift the protank IIs, they have got to at least be better than the crappy ego starter clearomizers...

Yes, they're better but I just couldn't get the wicking right, even with a 70/30 PG/AG juice.

Compared to cartos in a tank, Pro Tanks is a huge mess!

I also hated the washing and drying part as there are so many small pieces. Now, with carto tank set-up, I just bin the carto, give a quick rinse for the tank (without un-screwing parts) and I'm ready to go!

I would not discount the protanks competely without trying them. I am having great success with them.

Carto tanks are the best, period. Love my Smoktech pyrex tanks with Boge cartos.

the carto part is a capsule containing the coil surrounded by some absorbent material and the eliquid has to get in to the carto via holes and soak the absorbent material? is that what is meant by a carto here?

Actually, you only really have to fill the carto once when its is newly put into tank. This is known as priming. Once the liquid starts to input thru the hole punched or the slot on the side of the carto, juice usually doesn't usually refill the entire carto. And that is fine as long as the heating part(atomizer) is kept in liquid. Depending on the volume the tank holds these can last for days. Only need to replace the carto if the juice starts tasting bad or burnt. Once you get the hang of it, there is little maintenance to it. I usually have several carto tanks going because I prefer variety. Just starting using the clearo's again since they have improved since they first came out. So far not having any problems with the protanks, or the ego-s tanks.

I've tried them all, and I enjoy carto tanks more than any of them. It may seem like more of a hassle when first priming the carto, but once you get the hang of it is is fast and simple. Always get bigger and cleaner hits from them as well. I like bottom feeding wicks like the Kanger T3 for a while, but I just grew tired of the cooler hit and it seemed to lessen the flavor.

I love carto tanks. I have Phiniacs, Avid's Fluid Flask, Kir Fannis tanks, Ion Legend, and soon I want to get the salt and pepper tank.

They are the best compromise between flavor and ease of set up and use I think.

Which out of your tanks do you like the best overall? Never leaks, the most durable and the coolest looking? I have a Phiniac tank and love it, never had a problem with it. The only problem with it for me, and it's a minor problem, I wish the tank was bigger to hold more juice.
