I'm dedicated to vaping, it's so superior to analogs. I've had a couple of real disappointments though. My first was a mod that was recommended to me that only worked part of the time; I was able to send that back within the 'return' period (at least I hope, I sent it back, I have yet to receive the refund). That, of course cost me additional in postage, time and inconvenience to both me and the supplier.

The second disappointment was in using the classifieds. That seems to be a little tricky, under the best conditions - very much buyer beware. I did read on the forum someplace (the forum is so huge, it's time consuming to find what I need, I've spent hours reading and still not getting the answer I'm looking for), anyway, I read that the moderator (or someone) recommended a prospective buyer ascertain the validity of a seller before sending money to them. I just don't know how that and other pertinent information could be obtained. Anyone have advice about buying from the Classifieds? I would really appreciate any input, Positive and negative experiences. Thanks!

Welcome to ECF.
Yeah getting into the whole thing can have a lot of hit and miss unless you're very lucky.

As for the classifieds...when I recently sold some juice I sent it priority with tracking...then pm'd the person i sold it to with the tracking number. I was clear that he didn't need to send the money til he confirmed it was on the way. He chose to send it anyway but if in doubt wait til tracking says it's en route to the right town.

I am the "negative experience" Klynn is referring to. I did not do anything wrong to this person it was a simple case of miss communication. I had a few different people interested in some juices I was selling and I got confused as to who I was speaking with and when I realized I was PM'ing the wrong person I immediately PM'd Klynn and let them know. She then said "Ohhhhhhh NOoooooo But I just sent the money!"

I said "Oh, well I will issue you a refund, and sorry about the confusion!" She then started talking about how it didnt make sense and that I should send to her and not the other person! I think it is ultimately my choice as to WHO I sell to! I believe it is MY choice as the seller. It was also just a matter of miss communication as I pm'd the wrong person a couple of times.

I corrected the problem as SOON as it was discovered and wished her luck! I dont understand how this is a negative experience so bad that a post should be created talking about "buyer beware"! She was not ripped off, and her money was refunded via paypal! And when a refund occurs the payer gets ALL the cash back.
And again Klynn, sorry about the confusion and good luck and happy vaping!

You can always check out:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...65623-feedback-2-classified-transactions.html
This will give you a heads up.

Sounds like your original problem was resolved though.

Yeah, and you can search my name in there with plenty of transactions with no problems. There are also quite a few people who havent posted ratings for me that I can get to do so if needed.

But yeah, as for her "problem" in the classifieds, it was resolved as soon as it was found out. Without hesitation I refunded her money when I seen it in my account.

Clownfish159 - very straight up of you to post. You didn't need to, didn't need to draw attention but you're a stand up person. I can see by your past exchanges you wouldn't do anything wrong on purpose, everyone gives you great ratings.

Thank you! And I like to keep it that way, and I could see where this was going so I wanted to explain my side before it even came to that.
Bottom line is I promised the juice to someone else and was responding to Klynn around the same time. I got a little confused and once I realized what happened I PM'd her and told her the juice was sold. And I refunded her money as soon as I seen it in there.

And if you want to get technical, the original buyer paid first too. :)
But the point is, I apologized to Klynn refunded money (that she sent as a gift so really if I was "shady" or "negative" or in any way an untruthful person I just could have kept the money and said c-ya!) That is not me and not my character. As has been proven.

My post wasn't 'going anywhere'; I didn't get specific. Being new, I want(ed) to get any tips I can about using the classifieds (the number of posts is a good one) so that further transactions can go as smoothly as possible and we can all be happy. So, still would appreciate anything anyone has to share. Thanks.

I think of the classified as bring similar to Craig's List, only a tad safer. As someone pointed out above, if a seller is a regular on the forum they're not likely to risk their rep over a few bucks.
But "buyer beware" is the motto, regardless of dealing on the classifieds or dealing with a new vendor.
I just started vaping and have already had generous offers of help with needed supplies. I think that perhaps the vaping community is pretty reliable...with exceptions I'm sure.

The only thing I can recommend is to look at post counts.
People with high post counts aren't likely to risk their membership here to screw someone.

Not for a few bucks anyway.
:)

Perhaps a combination of post count, join date, and prior transactions would help eliminate most fears.

I see people who have only been here for a month with over double the post count I have, after having been here a year.

I am mostly a reader, always searching for information and less of a yapper. But I do have my fair share of BS posts out there. :D
