Did anyone ever tell you that you can be a real wet blanket sometimes?
Nope, and I didn't mean to get you wet when I rained on your parade.

We can "see" steam because of the water droplets condensing
That's true, but it doesn't change what steam actually is.

It certainly was steam that was created at the coil
eliquid is not water, so no it's not.

So it isn't vapor either, is it?
I didn't say it was, and I didn't name what we do.

Maybe throw some grammatical or spelling errors into your next post to help keep me occupied. :)

Any vaporized liquid is steam. Not just water.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Steam makes me think of sweaty old naked men in towels pouring water on hot rocks.

Well we all think differently.

The word "steam" conjures up the same imagery in my mind, except it involves beautiful women, not old men.

Different strokes, I guess. :D

I'm a steamer.

Just a heads-up: You might want to check your urban dictionary before you adopt that moniker.
And it only gets worse if you're from Cleveland.

Well, it's been a while since anyone around here has suggested one of our vape terms are inaccurate. I'm home today with a cold, so thank you @Electrodave for helping me break up the boredom a bit

Which is exactly what you get when you heat any alcohol to its flash point. H2O and CO2. And obviously, the water created must be in its gaseous state. At least at first, before it starts to cool down to below 100C. Which happens very quickly. Or else we'd all be dead.

IMO, it's fair to say that a few of our common terms may not be the most scientifically accurate. Vapor is a substance in its gas phase. There is vapor pressure and critical temperature involved, but these are not factors in vaping. Steam is water vapor so it is a subset of vapor. But these are strictly technical definitions, words are also commonly used with other meanings so this stuff is debatable depending on the writer's background and what audience they are communicating with.

Having said that, there is very little steam involved in the vaping process, even at the coil. Flash point refers to the temperature at which a substance ignites, so that's not relevant in this discussion. I think vaporizing, vapor and vaper are more accurate terms for us than steaming, steam and steamer.

Ultimately, I doubt it would make any difference what we call what we do as long as we don't say smoke.

Steam on :thumb:
